Lame Obama Two-fer: Plays Race Card, Drags Limbaugh Into It (Update) A Complete Fraud

This is so incredibly weak it almost isn't worth mentioning, but since the Obama people plan to play the race card seemingly every day, we may as well chronicle it. And this isn't even some media moron without any brain matter to think of anything else.

The Obama campaign has released new radio and TV ads in Spanish that seek to tie Sen. John McCain to anti-immigrant comments made by radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh. The ads also suggest the Republican has "dos caras" -- "two faces" -- when it comes to his relations with Latino voters. The new messages, airing in Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico, come in response to recent Spanish-language ads by the McCain campaign that suggest Obama is responsible for the collapse of last year's bipartisan immigration reform efforts.

"They want us to forget the insults we've put up with, the intolerance," the television ad's announcer says in Spanish as a picture of Rush Limbaugh appears onscreen with quotes of him saying, "Mexicans are stupid and unqualified" and "Shut your mouth or get out."

Of course, if Obama had half a clue, he'd know the material attributed to Limbaugh is from a parody of Mexican immigration laws.

As for the quotes, Limbaugh said they were taken out of context.

The first, "stupid and unqualified," is from the NAFTA debate of the mid-90s, he recalled. He didn't specify how it was distorted, but said he and his staff were researching the context.

On "shut your mouth," Limbaugh produced an April 2006 transcript from what he described as a parody of Mexican immigration laws.

The talk show host read a list of stringent rules, adding "shut your mouth and get out," before revealing to listeners that the guidelines were those set by the Mexican government for immigrants.

I can only figure those stooges from Media Matters probably fed Obama this material.

Of course, since the left is so idiotic they still can't figure out the origin of the Barack the Magic Negro parody, they'll fall for this.

But it's another sign of desperation by the post-racial candidate that he has to play the race card with such frequency.

Oh, and wasn't it Obama who whined incessantly about negative ads? Yes, I thought so.

There are some real factual problems with this ad, which is titled “Dos Caras,” or two faces.

First of all, tying Sen. McCain – especially on the issue of immigration reform – to Limbaugh is unfair.

Limbaugh opposed McCain on that issue. Vociferously. And in a larger sense, it’s unfair to link McCain to Limbaugh on a host of issues since Limbaugh, as any even occasional listener of his knows, doesn’t particularly care for McCain.

Second, the quotes of Limbaugh’s are out of context.

Railing against NAFTA in 1993, Limbaugh said, "If you are unskilled and uneducated, your job is going south. Skilled workers, educated people are going to do fine 'cause those are the kinds of jobs NAFTA is going to create. If we are going to start rewarding no skills and stupid people, I'm serious, let the unskilled jobs that take absolutely no knowledge whatsoever to do -- let stupid and unskilled Mexicans do that work."

Not one of his most eloquent moments, to be sure, but his larger point was that NAFTA would mean that unskilled stupid Mexicans would be doing the jobs of unskilled stupid Americans.

I’m not going to defend how he said it, but to act as if this was just a moment of Limbaugh slurring Mexicans is not accurate. Though again, certainly if people were offended I could understand why.

Exit question: What’s the bigger lie here, the nutroots-worthy distortions of what Limbaugh said or the suggestion that Rush Limbaugh and John McCain, of all people, are fellow travelers on the topic of immigration? Or is it rather the idea that Maverick, who two days ago reaffirmed his desire to push comprehensive immigration reform on his first day in office, has somehow “abandoned” the amnesty lobby?
