The Only Battles He Will Fight

"It's a battle — we're going to win — take no prisoners," Mrs. Obama said with a smile at a roundtable discussion with reporters in the White House State Dining Room.

She wasn't talking about Afghanistan, but rather her efforts to get Chicago named as the host city for the 2016 Olympics.

The slogans just write themselves.

"Come for the games, stay for the corruption"

I wonder if Al Capone will be the official mascot?

With Chicago being the union stronghold that it is, there is no way they can build the venues, support the events, and provide the massive infrastructure needed to support the worldwide media without driving the entire state of Illinois into a state of debt only witnessed in California.

The Obama's are traveling to Copenhagen, on your dime, to lobby the International Olympic Committee to name Chicago as the host city. They are in competition with several other cities including Rio de Janeiro and Madrid.

This of course means that Barack Obama will have the same number of meetings with the IOC as he has had with the general in charge of operations in Afghanistan, but priorities have to be set.

There is good news/bad news with the timing. At the rate Obama is going he will be a one term president, but that makes him eligible to be in charge of whole show in 2016.

In keeping with his usual modus operandi, he is also turning a deaf ear to the folks back home that aren't exactly clamoring for the Olympics.
