The U.S. has a violence rate of 466 crimes per 100,000 residents, Canada 935, Australia 92 and South Africa 1,609.The reason I say take this with a grain of salt is for the reason the writer of the original article points out, that being different countries have different ways of describing and reporting violent crimes. In jolly old England it is probably considered a violent crime if you serve tea without cookies.
Just in case you think this a strictly European survey, the data was derived from reports compiled by the European Commission and the United Nations. Yeah, I know citing the UN as source of good data immediately discredits any sort of reliance on the information, but hey, at least it wasn't The Lancet.
Meanwhile, Switzerland boasts the lowest rate of crime and some people say it is for a reason most people wouldn't realize.
.....the right of the people to keep and bear Arms,......
