Pedestrians are struck in Northampton’s downtown area on occasion, but it’s not often one of those pedestrians has the same name as the son of the Christian God, according to the Northampton Police Department.
“I’ve been here 24 years, and that is a first,” said Northampton Police Captain Scott Savino.
Police responded at around 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday to investigate an incident where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while he was in the Main street crosswalk, Savino said. The man was hurt, but conscious, and handed police his identifieciation, Savino said.
“He was identified from a Massachusetts ID card, so that is his legal name,” Savino added.
The 50-year-old Belchertown resident was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton with non-life threatening injuries to his face, mouth and legs, Savino said.
