I'd say bad policies also hurt Democrats. Seriously, we're a week from election day and these people are already whining about what the weather will be like next Tuesday? For a couple of weeks now we've been hearing nonstop about some supposed Democrat surge and how they're getting people out to vote early. Now we have a case of
pre-emptive whining.
In more bad news for Democrats, rain is in the forecast for much of the country on Election Day.
Weather tracking websites, including weather.com and The Old Farmer's Almanac, are calling for rain in the Midwest, Southeast, and Northeast regions, with chances for precipitation in other parts of the country as well.
According to Laurel Harbridge, a Northwestern University political science professor, said GOP voters are not typically discouraged by rain. “Republicans are helped by bad weather...it does harm Democratic prospects.”
Wendy Schiller, a political science professor at Brown University, echoed Harbridge. “Bad weather almost always hurts Democrats,” she said. “The traditional Democratic base tends to include lower income people and the elderly. Both of those demographic groups have a hard time getting to the polls.”
These are political science professors? Maybe they ought to put their degrees to work and try to figure out why Democrats are so unpopular. It could be 80 degrees and sunny coast to coast and that wouldn't help Democrats. Then again we'd be told a shortage of sunscreen in Democrat precincts affected turnout.
Political experts say the rain will especially help Republicans this year because the conservative base is motivated to win back control of Congress.
Experts? These are
experts? it doesn't take an expert to figure out why the Democrats are going to take a beating, and it has nothing to do with the weather. Maybe Democrats have no reason to turn out or they're simply lazy. I thought all the unions were taking the day off to get the vote out? Don't they have umbrellas and raincoats?
