Where'd they all go?
This report said there would be 50,000 marching in Los Angeles.
An estimated 50,000 people are expected to march through downtown Los Angeles for immigration reform on Sunday, marking May Day.
The march and rally aim for full legalization. Two marches are scheduled with one starting at noon and the other at 12:30 p.m.
The message participants want to relay is for the government to create a path to citizenship for the millions of undocumented people already in the U.S.
Reality check:
There were American flags, union banners and vendors hawking treats such as ice cream and hot dogs wrapped in bacon.
But what was missing from this year's May Day march on a crystal-clear Sunday morning were the crowds.
By 10 a.m. only a few hundred immigrant rights and labor activists had gathered at Broadway and Olympic Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles to rally public support for legislation that would legalize the nation's 11 million illegal immigrants.
"It's really sad," Luis Ortiz, an ice cream vendor who has been coming to the rallies for the last 15 years, said of the small turnout. "I've sold very little, almost nothing."
The rerason is it was on a weekend. No one got a free day off school or work.
ReplyDeleteThis stuff just gives me the same warm, wonderful feeling I got in 6th grade when the nerdy kid got hit in the face by a dodgeball.
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you where they were, it was their day off. If it was a M-F work day, they'd of been there in the thousands. Wait till Cinco de Mayo, they'll feel the need to not show up to work and go protest, or whatever it is they do at these rallys. These people make me ill.

ReplyDeleteJust like the Democrats.
Hey Luiz, maybe next time you should try selling ice cream at a rally full of conservatives. They usually have money to spend.
ReplyDeleteheh heh - ICE musta been in the area?
ReplyDeleteQuoting the article: "rally public support for legislation that would legalize the nation's 11 million illegal immigrants" 11 million? In a pig's eye!!! It's easily double that. They're just "underestimating" the actual number so that the public doesn't freak out when they hear how many illegals are actually in this country.
ReplyDeleteI'm just sippin' on my Slurpee and laughin' at the car down in the ditch. After the FAIL in Wisconsin the libs are so disheartened they don't bother to try. Hope the car stays there 'til 2012!
ReplyDeletePlan big rallies and nobody shows up?
ReplyDeleteYes we can!
