'God, I can't wait til I can kill you'

Colorado killer More Matthew Murray left a trail of online rants and police today said he killed himself after being wounded by heroic guard Jeanne Assam.

THE gunman responsible for shootings at two religious centres in Colorado warned of his plans for the rampage in anti-Christian rants posted on the internet, it was reported overnight.

Matthew Murray, who shot dead four people in separate attacks on a missionary training centre and mega-church on Sunday, published more than a dozen writings online before his shooting spree, KUSA TV reported in Denver.

"You Christians brought this on yourselves," Murray reportedly wrote on a website for people who have left Pentecostal and fundamentalist religious organisations, shortly before the second of his two attacks.

"I'm coming for EVERYONE soon and I WILL be armed to the @#%$ teeth and I WILL shoot to kill. ... God, I can't wait till I can kill you people. Feel no remorse, no sense of shame, I don't care if I live or die in the shoot-out.

"All I want to do is kill and injure as many of you ... as I can especially Christians who are to blame for most of the problems in the world."

KUSA reported that the wording of Murray's rant mirrored language used by one of the Columbine High School gunmen, Eric Harris, before the 1999 massacre that left 12 students and a teacher dead.

Murray, 24, was shot dead by a security guard at the New Life evangelical church, averting what church officials say could have been a massacre.

He was armed with two handguns, an assault rifle, around 1000 rounds of ammunition and several smoke grenades as he began his assault on the church, which was packed with around 7000 worshippers.

Hmm. I wonder if we'll now have a nationwide dialogue over why there exists such anti-Christian bigotry and try to find the root causes.

Instead, the media will no doubt be quick to send this one down the memory hole.

Ironic how we haven't heard the ubiquitous term hate crime bandied about, isn't it?

The online posts, under the pen name "nghtmrchld26," spanned several weeks, and in an earlier one, Murray appeared to reject offers of psychological help.

A search for nghtmrchld26 turned up little except for some analysis of his writings here, and here.

I find this "Council for National Policy" interesting.

One of the things I want to know is:

Why do these evangelical/pentecostal leaders condemn "the occult"/"freemasonry" yet they themselves are part of or at least completely ignore a group that itself has secret membership, secret meetings, and is invitation only.

Of course, this secretive christian/evangelical "CNP" group raises many questions.......

Colorado Shooter Identified

The dead gunman from the shootings at the New Life Church in Colorado Springs has been identified as Matthew Murray. The two young ladies killed were sisters Stephanie and Rachel Works. Their father was also injured.

Brady Boyd, senior pastor at New Life, said today the plainclothes security guard who killed the intruder "was a real hero (who) probably saved 100 people."

The gunman "had enough ammunition on him to cause a lot of damage," Boyd told reporters outside the church.

The pastor said the unidentified, volunteer guard normally works as his personal security at worship services and was stationed in the rotunda.

He said she heard the initial gunshots outside and "rushed toward the attacker and took him down in the hallway" before he could get 50 feet inside.

But the man, described by witnesses as dressed in a dark overcoat and brandishing a large rifle, already had shot five people.

Boyd called the shootings "a senseless, random attack" by a man with no connection to his church.

He said New Life members are praying for the killer's family.

Colorado Springs police said Stephanie Works, 18, and Rachel Works, 16, died in the hail of bullets as New Life was emptying after Sunday worship.

Their father, David Works, 51, was hospitalized in fair condition today with two gunshot wounds.

Boyd said the family have been New Life members for about a year and a half.

Two others were treated for their wounds and released: Judy Purcell, 40, and Larry Bourbannais, 59.

ABC speculates the shootings at New Life and in Arvada may be linked.

The Denver Post says Murray hated Christians.

Shooting Outside Colorado Church (UPDATE) Four Dead?

There's been another shooting in Colorado today, this one outside a Colorado Springs church.

This on the heels of the overnight killing of two at a Christian missionary.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — At least four people were shot outside of a Colorado Springs church on Sunday, but it was not immediately known whether the shootings were related to an earlier shooting about 70 miles away, authorities said.

The conditions of the people shot outside the New Life Church were not known, El Paso county Sheriff's Lt. Lari Sevene said.

Two people died and two were wounded earlier Sunday when a gunman opened fire in a dormitory at a missionary training center in the Denver suburb of Arvada.

Lance Coles, a pastor at New Life Church, told The Associated Press he received a report that a man was shooting at people in the church parking lot and that the gunman may have entered the church.

New Life was founded by the Rev. Ted Haggard, who was fired last year after a former male prostitute alleged he had a three year cash-for-sex relationship.

Haggard, then the president of the National Association of Evangelicals, admitted to undisclosed "sexual immorality."

The church is one of Colorado's largest with about 10,000 members.

Nice to see the AP inject the Haggard story. I guess that's more important to their agenda than the four wounded people.

UPDATE: The local ABC affiliate reports one person is in custody and a search is on for a possible second suspect.

NEWSCHANNEL 13 the ABC station in Colorado Springs is reporting there is one person in custody and police are looking for a possible second gunmen at New Life Church in northern Colorado Springs.

According to the El Paso County Sheriffs office, deputies have locked down the area around the mega church off I-25 and Interquest Parkway. Police scanner traffic indicates multiple victims were taken to area hospitals. The conditions of the victims are not being released at this time.

A black-clad man armed with a rifle opened fire on worshippers at a Colorado Springs, Colorado, megachurch Sunday afternoon, wounding several people, church and hospital officials reported.

Rob Brendle, an associate pastor at New Life Church, said the attack took place inside the church after a late-morning service and that the suspect was fatally shot.

But police spokesman Lt. Fletcher Howard said he could confirm no fatalities, and that all of the shooting occurred outside the church, in the parking lot.

UPDATE II: Suspect reportedly dead, though not confirmed by authorities.

A 9NEWS source has confirmed the gunman was shot and killed by a security guard. Authorities also found an improvised explosive device.

Authorities have not confirmed that the suspect is dead. They say they have one person in custody. Police are not releasing any information about what kind of weapon was used in the attack or the suspect's status. 9NEWS has learned the gunman was dressed with a tactical helmet and body armor.

UPDATE III: This report says five are dead.

FIVE people, including the suspected attacker, have been killed in a shooting near a church in Colorado Springs.

El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa said "one gunman (is) down'' and four people were dead, another possibly one wounded in the incident at the New Life Church. He said the casualty toll was preliminary.

UPDATE IV: This report indicates the gunman opened fire inside the church.

UPDATE V: Now the death toll has apparently been amended to two in the later incident today. Still developing...
