Automaker NOT Owned by the Government Posts $2.7 Billion Profit

The Democrats just don't get it and never will. How dare a private company succeed in these tough economic times without handouts from the imperial federal government?

Well, somehow Ford managed to do just that.

Ford Motor Co. says it made $2.7 billion in 2009, its first annual profit in four years.

Ford says it benefited from cost-cutting, debt reduction and popular cars and trucks like the Ford Fusion sedan and Escape SUV. It's enjoying customer goodwill for avoiding bankruptcy and refusing federal aid.

Meanwhile, Government Motors continues to bleed money and Chrysler showed up to the recent Detroit auto show with no new models to display.

Message to Democrats: Get the hell out of the way and watch this economy recover.

I'm beginning to think they don't want us to recover.

Uh, What Happened to Those Jobs You 'Created or Saved'?

One day he pretends his porkulus scam saved or created (make up a number) jobs, but now today Barack Obama warns everyone to brace for more job losses.

Speaking at a White House meeting of his Economic Recovery Advisory Board, Obama said the current pace of job losses was "distressing" and would not improve quickly.

"We anticipate that we are going to continue to see some job losses in the weeks and months to come," Obama said.

But ... but ... but what happened to "creating and saving" jobs, Barry?

In other economic news, a certain motor company that refused government aid shows a huge profit. No doubt they'll soon be a target of Obama and his merry band of anti-capitalists.

Which vehicles are Americans buying in the Cash For Clunkers program? It depends on who you rely on for your information, the White House Office of Dis-Information or a private, and probably evil, automotive company, Edmunds.com.

The White House list had only small vehicles, thereby boosting their claims that given a chance Americans would buy their planet loving, global saving, little cars, but it turns out that was due to some creative bookkeeping.

The discrepancy is a result of the methods used. Edmunds.com uses traditional sales measurements, tallying sales by make and model. The government uses a more arcane measurement method that subdivides models according to engine and transmission types, counting them as separate models. For example, the Ford Escape is available in six different versions including two- and four-wheel drive and hybrid versions. The government counts each version as a different vehicle using guidelines from the Environmental Protection Agency.

Compare their list to what Edmunds has as the most bought vehicles.

Yup, folks still like their pickups and SUV's and I would like to think that the presence of so many Ford vehicles on the list is due to the fact that they didn't take any government, (taxpayer) money, even though they still remain under the thumb of UAW, and Americans are showing them a little love.
