John Dingell Gives It Away: ObamaCare Intended to 'Control the People'

Yeah, just us crazy rightwingers being paranoid, I guess. Thanks for helping the GOP make a nice ad.

Dingell: Protesters Remind Me of Robert Byrd

Nothing like elevating the dialogue there, Sparky. So let's see, people protesting ObamaCare are angry mobs, radicals, Hitler, un-American and now are being compared to Klansmen.

There's comes a point when you can no longer reach bottom and the digging has to stop. I suspect we've yet to reach it. We're dealing with Democrats after all, and their ability to sink further into the gutter really does fascinate. Maybe we ought to start awarding them style points for creativity.

I guess this was a sly reference to Mike Sola, who confronted Dingell the other day. I'm sure he'll appreciate being called a Klansman.

African American Congressman Faces Angry Southern KKK Crowd at Healthcare Townhall

That is the headline the liberal media would love to run with this morning, and were probably anticipating as Georgia congressman Hank Johnson (GA-13) held his healthcare townhall last night in a suburb of Atlanta. Instead over 2,000 people attended and engaged the congressmaen and other members of the panel that were assembled in polite and probing questions regarding the various healthcare bills floating around the halls of the capitol building.
Civil, well-mannered, asking smart questions – that may not sound like one of these town hall meetings on health care reform.
But the nearly 2,000 people who gathered Monday night at George Perimeter College in Clarkston offered a lesson to the rest of the nation on how civil discourse doesn’t have to spiral into civil disobedience.

Our local rag the Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC), even had to concede that the meeting went well, but they weren't ready to report that most people in attendance expressed displeasure at the proposed government takeover of healthcare in this country. In fact in reading the article you get a sense that most in attendance were in favor. This is a far different perpective then what was shown on the local news channels last night in which at least one reporter on the scene estimated that those who oppose the plan outnumbered those in favor by a margin of 5 or 6 to 1.
So while Yankee boy John Dingell from MI likes to compare those who oppose the government takeover to members of the KKK, we southerners will continue to display our usual southern hospitality and manners. Something those on the left could take some lessons from.

Welcome to Obamaland: 'Your Thugs Already Know Where We Live'

I guess this father of a handicapped child who had the audacity to question a Democrat and (horror!) raise his voice is now considered un-American by the disgraceful Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer.

Goons showing up at his home in the middle of the night issuing threats.

Change!

Watch the entire interview. Powerful stuff. And today the Congressional leadership called him un-American.

Classy.

Great News: EPA to Regulate Carbon Dioxide, U.S. Economy Officially On Life Support

Apparently the Obama administration plans to completely wreck the U.S. economy as fast as possible. It's bad enough we're spending trillions in bailouts and so-called "stimulus" plans, but now they're really going over the edge by proposing to regulate carbon dioxide, all in some strange quest to fight mythical global warming.
The Environmental Protection Agency is expected to act for the first time to regulate carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that scientists blame for the warming of the planet, according to top Obama administration officials.

The decision, which most likely would play out in stages over a period of months, would have a profound impact on transportation, manufacturing costs and how utilities generate power. It could accelerate the progress of energy and climate change legislation in Congress and form a basis for the United States’ negotiating position at United Nations climate talks set for December in Copenhagen.
Read that part again: a profound impact on transportation, manufacturing costs and how utilities generate power. Translated: You're going to be gouged like never before.

No doubt this will help "create" jobs, no?

Good luck selling this risky scheme to all those industrial blue states that make up the base of the Democrat Party.
Even some who favor an aggressive approach to climate change said they were wary of the agency’s asserting exclusive authority over carbon emissions. They say that the Clean Air Act, now more than 40 years old, was not designed to regulate ubiquitous substances like carbon dioxide. Using the law, they say, would capture carbon emissions from new facilities, but not existing ones, blunting its impact. They also believe that a broader approach that addresses all sectors of the economy and that is fully debated in Congress would be better than a regulatory approach that could drag through the courts for years.
Why bother with the courts/ King Obama can just sign an executive order, stick his nose in the air and be done with it.
That is not likely to assuage critics, including many Democrats from states dependent on coal-generated electricity and manufacturing jobs, where such regulation could significantly increase costs. Representative John D. Dingell, the Michigan Democrat who has long championed the interests of the auto industry, said that the regulation of carbon dioxide emissions by the E.P.A. would set off a “glorious mess” that would resonate throughout the economy.

Senator John Barrasso, Republican of Wyoming, warned Ms. Jackson during her January confirmation hearing that she should not undercut Congress’s authority by using the agency’s regulatory power to address global warming. Mr. Barrasso called the use of the Clean Air Act to regulate carbon “a disaster waiting to happen.”
There no queston this strangling of the economy while we're in a recession will just makes things far worse, but apparently that's what Obama and the Democrats want so they can continue spreading their message of fear and crisis wherever they go.

They'll pay a huge price themselves in the 2010 midterm elections.

An Idea So Stupid Only a Democrat Could Come Up With It

For all the kvetching over gas prices, can you just imagine how well this will go over?

It's not as if the government isn't raking in windfall profits on gas as it is. Now these greedy SOB's want even more.

On the upside, maybe the Democrats could incorporate this lunacy into the convention platform. Then John McCain could win all 50 states.

Michigan Congressman Wants 50-Cent Tax Hike on Every Gallon of Gas
A Michigan congressman wants to put a 50-cent tax on every gallon of gasoline to try to cut back on Americans' consumption.

Polls show that a majority of Americans support policies that would reduce greenhouse gases. But when it comes to paying for it, it's a different story.

Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., wants to help cut consumption with a gas tax but some don't agree with the idea, according to a new poll by the National Center for Public Policy Research.

The poll, scheduled to be released on Thursday, shows 48 percent don't support paying even a penny more, 28 percent would pay up to 50 cents more, 10 percent would pay more than 50 cents and 8 percent would pay more than a dollar.

"I don't want to pay more, I don't think anyone wants to," said Karen Deacon, a motorist.

"I think that wouldn't make any sense," said Frankie Hoe, a motorist. "Ugh ... who's making the money from all this and where is that money going? Is it going to go green? I don't see any green things anywhere."

The automobile is the nation's biggest polluter; Americans use more gas than the next 20 countries combined.

Some environmentalists and economists say pain at the pump may be bad for Americans, but good medicine for a sick planet.

But others say it wouldn't change much. Even if Americans abandoned their cars, global emissions would fall by less than one percent.

"A tax on gas is a way to reduce dependence on import oil, reduce traffic congrestion [sic] and reduce carbon emissions," said Lester Brown, president of the Earth Policy Institute.
Hey Lester, when you give up driving and polluting the air with your nonsense, they maybe we can talk.

Here's an idea. If 46% claim they want to pay more, how about just sending the government a check directly? Wouldn't that help solve your guilt?

As it stands, the government is raking in billions already off gas taxes. Giving them even more money to waste is an absurd notion.
