'This is the Most Superficial Report I've Seen in My 30 Years in Congress'

Not for nothing, but Rep. Chris Smith is being a little naive here. Does he actually expect a report from a so-called government watchdog to do anything but exonerate the Obama regime?

A government watchdog has issued a report saying it found no evidence that the Obama administration illegally funded groups seeking to legalize abortion in Kenya for the first time with changes to the constitution -- a conclusion that immediately was blasted by one of the administration's top critics on the issue.

Rep. Chris Smith of New Jersey, the top Republican on the House Africa panel, said the report by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) inspector general was "poorly researched, superficial, incomplete and a whitewash."

"This was not a well-researched investigation," he said in a written statement. "We had expected the truth and nothing else. We had hoped the IG would dig deep for the facts. This is the most superficial report I've seen in my 30 years in Congress."

The inspector general's office did not respond to an e-mail seeking comment.

Kenya has long been ripe for a new constitution, one that would balance power in the country and prevent the kind of violent rioting that followed Kenya's 2007 presidential election.

But Smith and other lawmakers have accused the Obama administration of offering incentives to Kenya to approve the controversial new constitution, promising that passage would “allow money to flow” into the nation's coffers.

Smith has cited an earlier report by USAID that estimated more than $23 million in U.S. taxpayer funds had been spent on the referendum. He and other conservatives have alleged that at least some of that money has been spent in support of the proposed constitution, possibly in violation U.S. law that prohibits "lobbying for or against abortion" in other countries.

All that money spent in Kenya and Obama's half brother is still living in a hut. USAID recently hailed Obama's vision. No wonder they won't do anything to criticize him.

'U.S. Law is Being Violated With Impunity'

A Republican lawmaker is accusing the White House of “unconscionable” and “illegal” acts for its role in Kenya's referendum on a new constitution, which would legalize abortion in the country for the first time.

Rep. Chris Smith of New Jersey cited a report by the U.S. Agency for International Development, or USAID, which estimated that more than $23 million in U.S. taxpayer funds have been spent on the referendum, and Smith and other conservatives have complained that at least some of that money has been spent in sport of the proposed constitution, possibly violating U.S. law.

“Under no circumstances should the U.S. government take sides,” Smith said at a news conference Wednesday. “Yet that is precisely what the Obama administration has done.”

He and other lawmakers accuse the Obama administration of offering incentives to Kenya to approve the controversial new constitution, promising that passage would “allow money to flow” into the nation's coffers. A federal law known as the Siljander Amendment makes it illegal for the U.S. government to lobby on abortion in other countries.

“We were unable to get any information prior to asking for those (USAID) reports,” Smith said. “There’s been no transparency in this process.”

Smith had been joined by Reps. Darrell Issa of California and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida in requesting the federal investigation into the administration's spending on the referendum.

“U.S. law is being violated with impunity,” Smith told FoxNews.com. “We shouldn’t be pushing for other the ‘yes’ or the ‘no’ camp, but instead, we’re bankrolling the ‘yes’ campaign.”

One group that has received almost $3 million from the U.S. government, Development Alternatives, openly supported “advocating for efforts to eventually legalize abortion in Kenya,” Smith said. Another group, The Committee of Experts on Constitutional Review in Kenya, changed the wording of the Kenyan constitution’s abortion clause to make abortion more widely accessible – and has received over $180,000 from the U.S.

Thanks to these findings, nine of the more than 200 organizations in Kenya that received money from the U.S. have been suspended from receiving assistance, the U.S. Embassy spokeswoman Katya Thomas in Nairobi told the AP Friday.

But the congressmen are asking for more. They want the White House to be held accountable for its role.

“If violations of the law have occurred, which on the face of it they have, the information must be brought before law enforcement,” Smith said. “Not even presidents are above the law.”

Kenyan-born US Senate hopeful, Barrack Obama, appeared set to take over the Illinois Senate seat after his main rival, Jack Ryan, dropped out of the race on Friday night amid a furor over lurid sex club allegations.

The allegations that horrified fellow Republicans and caused his once-promising candidacy to implode in four short days have given Obama a clear lead as Republicans struggled to fetch an alternative.

Ryan’s campaign began to crumble on Monday following the release of embarrassing records from his divorce. In the records, his ex-wife, Boston Public actress Jeri Ryan, said her former husband took her to kinky sex clubs in Paris, New York and New Orleans.

That's a newspaper in Kenya using Associated Press as a source.

I've never been one into this birth certificate business, but it's curious how a paper in Kenya would say he was born there. Just saying.

More Unrealistic Expectations of Obama: 'They Think He's Going To Announce That Everybody Can Come Over Here'

Perhaps all these excited Kenyans ought to go visit George Hussein Obama if they think Barack Obama is going to lift a finger to do anything for them.

In the 17 years since Samuel Nyamwange came to New Jersey from Kenya, he's gotten used to his family calling about once every six weeks to check in.

That changed after Barack Obama, whose father was Kenyan, was elected president of the United States.

"Now, they're calling almost twice a week: `Has he (Obama) done anything yet?'" Nyamwange said. "They think he's going to announce that everybody can come over here."

Nyamwange said he, like many Kenyan immigrants in America, has suddenly gained near rock-star status back home since the election.

"Everybody wants to come over here (to America) now," Nyamwange said. "They want to come here and see things for themselves, and to thank Obama for making Kenya great."

Everyone wants to come here now. As opposed to every year prior to 2009, when nobody wanted to come to America.

Grandmama Obama Wants to Bring a Spear to the White House

Seriously. One little problem, of course. Bringing a spear onto a plane is a no-no. Don't they have some delivery service that can arrange shipment?

Sarah Obama, who at 86 still lives in a modest house in the family's ancestral village of Kogelo, has been packing presents ahead of her grandson's January 20 inauguration as the 44th president of the United States.

Quoted in the Standard newspaper, she said she had hoped to bring him a traditional spear and shield from her Luo tribe when she flies to Washington on Friday with some other family members.

"But I have been told that due to security reasons I will not be allowed to board a plane with it," she explained.

Sarah Obama, the president-elect's step grandmother, has become a national celebrity since the Illinois senator - the Hawaiian-born son of a Kenyan father and white American mother - launched his bid for the White House.

"The day I was waiting for has finally come... I cannot hide my joy," she said. "I am going to be Kenya's ambassador during the occasion and I will live up to the expectations."

Kenya's Foreign Minister Moses Wetangula will head a government delegation for a pre-inauguration bash organised by African diplomatic missions in the US.

"It is a big fete that will be attended by delegations from many African nations," Wetangula said.

They're demanding apologies for showing the dreaded photo of The Messiah in the native garb.

Kenyan elders demanded an apology from Washington on Thursday ahead of a planned protest over a controversial photo of U.S. presidential hopeful Barack Obama in traditional Somali dress.

The picture, which appeared on a U.S. Web site, showed the Democratic frontrunner donning a white headdress and robes during a visit in 2006 to the remote north-eastern town of Wajir.

The photo took centre stage in an increasingly acrimonious race for the White House, with Obama aides accusing his party rival Hillary Clinton's camp of "the most shameful, offensive fear-mongering" after it was published.

Obama, whose late father was from western Kenya, has fought a whispering campaign by fringe elements who wrongly say that he is Muslim and have even compared his surname to that of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

Clinton's campaign denied it officially approved the picture's release.

The dispute has angered many in Kenya, especially ethnic Somalis from the northeast, who resent the implication that Obama did anything wrong during his visit.

Wajir residents plan to demonstrate after Friday prayers to show their support for the Illinois senator.

Mohamed Ibrahim, who attended one of two crisis meetings held in Wajir on Thursday by clan members who hosted Obama on his trip, said Washington must immediately make amends to them and especially to the elder pictured with him.

"The U.S. government must apologise to us as a clan and the old man," Ibrahim told Reuters by telephone. "We have been offended and we cannot afford to just watch and stay silent."

He said it was essential Clinton "clear her name" too.

Now they say if Mrs. Clinton wants to get off the hook, she can pay up in livestock.

Have They Tried Sensitivity Training?

For some strange reason, humans are shocked when primates act like, well, primates.

A troop of monkeys has been making "lewd signs" at women and children trying to harvest crops south of Nairobi, and the farmers feel so harassed that Kenya’s Wildlife Service is sending in animal-control teams to confront the animals.

The monkeys in the Kabete area even earned a mention in parliament last month when the local MP Paul Muite said his constituents feared the monkeys would sexually harass them.

"Can the minister deploy game rangers in Karai location in Kabete to deal with the monkey menace?" he asked the tourism and wildlife minister, Morris Dzoro, to laughs in the chamber.

"These creatures have clearly shown that they have no respect for women."

Geez, next thing you know, they'll be comparing them to construction workers.

Gichuki Kabukuru of the Kenya Wildlife Service told the Telegraph that monkeys and baboons commonly harass women, gesturing at them and touching their own private parts.

"Even in our camps," he explained, "when men are out on patrol and the monkeys see women and children, they will become very naughty and make lewd signs at them."

This is nothing. You should see them when they get a few beers in them.
