Norks Launch Another Missile As Obama Hits Vegas for Fundraiser

I imagine Obama was working on his putting stroke on his way west to shake down some fatcats for Dingy Harry.
The cards may not be stacked in President Obama's favor as he arrives in Las Vegas tonight for a fundraiser with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev..

More than three months after the president's comments suggesting executives avoid using taxpayer money to fund trips like junkets to Vegas, Obama could receive a lukewarm reception Tuesday at Caesar's Palace.
I guess while he's off on fundraising junkets somebody's back monitoring what he yesterday termed a grave crisis, one turining more grave by the hour.
North Korea has fired off another missile, the latest in a series since its nuclear test two days ago, South Korea's Yonhap news agency said Wednesday.

The North fired a short-range missile into the Sea of Japan (East Sea) overnight, it quoted a Seoul government source as saying.

"Intelligence authorities are now closely monitoring the situation," the source said.

The communist state fired three short-range ground-to-air missiles from locations near its east coast on Monday, the same day it conducted an underground nuclear test that shocked the world.
Shocked the world? Who exactly is shocked by what they do any more?

As for the grave crisis, all Obama says is I'm going to Vegas, baby!

Global Warming Dumps Snow on Las Vegas, Climatologist Algore Unavailable for Comment

Last week it was snow in New Orleans. Today it's Las Vegas. You figure at some point people would catch on to this global warming scam.
The ongoing snowstorm has stopped flights from landing or leaving at McCarran International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

"No planes are departing for Las Vegas from anywhere in the U.S. right now," said FAA spokesman Ian Gregor.
Apparently what stays in Vegas will be staying a bit longer.

We know if Gore was available the reaction would be something like this.

Ricin, Firearms, Anarchist Textbook, But No Terror Link?

Something very strange going on in Las Vegas.
As police tried to piece together how a rare, deadly poison ended up in a motel for transients, the 57-year-old man who could hold the key lay unconscious in a hospital.

Adding to the mystery, police said firearms and an "anarchist type textbook" were found in the same room where the ricin was discovered two days later.

Capt. Joseph Lombardo said at a news conference late Friday that the book was tabbed at a spot with information about ricin. Police found the firearms and books on Tuesday after a manager at the Extended Stay America motel called police upon discovering weapons, he said, without elaborating.

After authorities seized the book and weapons, tests for ricin were conducted but came back negative, Lombardo said.
Not to impugn the police or FBI, but at what point do you suppose there could be a terror link? And it might be helpful if we knew the identity of the man in question.
Authorities said there was no apparent link to terrorist activity, and no indication of any spread of the deadly substance beyond the vials.

The 57-year-old man was the last to stay in the room, and has been in critical condition since calling an ambulance on Feb. 14 complaining of respiratory distress.

Authorities offered little more about the man's identity: He left pets in the room and was not considered a suspect. A dog was found dead, but the animal had gone at least a week without food or water, Suey said.

"We don't know an awful lot about him," she said. "We don't even know that it was him that was in possession of the ricin." Suey said she could not say how much ricin was in the vials.

Massive Blaze at Vegas Hotel

This does not look good.
LAS VEGAS -- A three-alarm fire has broken out on the roof of the Monte Carlo hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

Flames and plumes of black smoke could be seen on what appeared to a west-facing rooftop of the resort.

Las Vegas fire spokesman Tim Szymanski says city and county firefighters were on the scene. The fire was reported just before 11 a.m.
Watch live video here and here.

It appears contained to the top five stories and started on the roof.

UPDATE 4:35: Thankfully, it now appears under control and best of all, no injuries reported.

Six Students Shot in Las Vegas

Another mass shooting, this one late today in Las Vegas as six students were shot getting off a school bus.
Six junior high or high school students were shot Tuesday after they got off a school bus, and two were critically hurt, police said.

Gunshots rang out in northeast Las Vegas just before 2 p.m., Officer Bill Cassell said.

Six young people were transported to area hospitals. Four had minor gunshot injuries and two were in critical condition, Cassell said.

At least two people are believed to have taken part in the shootings, he said.
More here.

Two are believed to be in their late teens and the others are believed to be juveniles. One of the victims was a girl. Two of the male victims were reported to have been shot in the torso and the other victims were reported to have suffered less serious wounds.
Police are investigating possible gang activity.
Gunshots rang out after the school bus left the area around North Walnut Road and East Alexander Road, Cassell said.

Six people were transported to area hospitals. Four had minor gunshot injuries and two were in critical condition.

Cassell said the police gang unit is investigating to determine if gangs were involved.

Explosion at Las Vegas Casino

Details are few at this point, but it appears a Las Vegas casino employee was killed in an explosion this morning.
A backpack exploded in a parking garage attached to a Las Vegas hotel early Monday, killing a man who had picked it up and injuring another person, authorities said.

The man had removed the backpack from atop his car when it exploded shortly after 4 a.m. on the second floor of a parking behind the Luxor hotel-casino, said Officer Bill Cassell, a police spokesman.

The second person was taken to an area hospital.

Aerial video showed no apparent damage to the parking structure, where entrances were blocked while police, firefighters and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents investigated. No further information was immediately available.
No word on whether it's terrorism at this point.
