Dems Look to Remove Reagan's Name From Airport?

As we rush headlong toward the Socialist Utopia, it appears Democrats will not only be rewriting history but trying to remove any reference to it.

At Wednesday’s Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Board meeting, chairman H.R. Crawford – a former District Council member and Marion Barry confidante – told fellow Board members that he has heard talk on Capitol Hill about yanking former President Ronald Reagan’s name off the local airport and returning it to its previous generic moniker: National Airport.

“It was just a discussion. We’re not aware of anything specific,” MWAA spokeswoman Tara Hamilton later told The Examiner.

It’s clear that the current crop of congressional leaders want no part of Reagan’s grand conservative vision for America, but erasing all trace of his memory from an airport that’s already been named in his honor is about as petty as you can get.

Oh, give them another day. They'll find something even more petty.

Hey, maybe they can just bypass the formalities now and name it after King Obama.

'We May Have a Civil War'

Looks like former DC Mayor Marion Barry isn't down with gay marriage, much like the black voters in California that helped Prop 8 pass overwhelmingly.

D.C. Council member Marion Barry (D-Ward 8), the only council member to vote against the bill today to legalize same-sex marriages performed elsewhere, predicted today there could be a "civil war" in the District if the Council decides to take up a broader gay marriage bill later this year.

"All hell is going to break lose," Barry said while speaking to reporters. "We may have a civil war. The black community is just adamant against this."

Therein lies the dirty little secret the left and gay marriage proponents don't want to accept. But since they take the black vote for granted they really have nothing to worry about. Besides, the media won't be much interested in pursuing this angle inasmuch as they'd prefer to focus on destroying a beauty pageant contestant.

"What you've got to understand is 98 percent of my constituents are black and we don't have but a handful of openly gay residents," Barry said. "Secondly, at least 70 percent of those who express themselves to me about this are opposed to anything dealing with this issue. The ministers think it is a sin, and I have to be sensitive to that."

Since both Barry and the other Barry, President Obama, are both opposed to gay marriage, why do not I hear condemnation of their stance on the issue by the same stormtroopers busy trashing Carrie Prejean?

WashPost Critic Apologizes for E-Mail

WASHINGTON (AP) - A Pulitzer Prize-winning music critic for The Washington Post has apologized for sending an angry e-mail in which he called District of Columbia Council member Marion Barry a "crack addict."

Tim Page wrote to Barry's aide last week after receiving a press release about the former mayor's views on the financially troubled Greater Southeast Community Hospital.

"Must we hear about it every time this crack addict attempts to rehabilitate himself with some new—and typically half-witted—political grandstanding?" the e-mail said. "I'd be grateful if you would take me off your mailing list. I cannot think of anything the useless Marion Barry could do that would interest me in the slightest, up to and including overdose."

Barry was videotaped in 1990, during his third term as mayor, smoking crack cocaine in a hotel room during an FBI sting. He served a six- month prison sentence.

In a story published Tuesday in The Washington Post, Executive Editor Leonard Downie Jr. called Page's e-mail "a terrible mistake" and said he had taken "appropriate internal action." Neither Downie nor Page would disclose what the action was. Page plans to take a previously scheduled four-month leave starting Jan. 1.
