Reporting on Tainted Goods a Sickness, Chinese Official Says

Forget the fact that most of the junk coming out of the Communist country seems to be tainted. We must avoid mentioning it, as it may be a sign of illness, and well, they're just a wee bit sensitive to all the bad publicity.

What an idiot.

Hyping safety problem is a sickness, China says
BEIJING, Sept 5 (Reuters) - Hyping China's food and product safety problem is a sickness in itself, the country's new health minister said on Wednesday, a day after Mattel announced a third global recall of Chinese-made toys.

A series of scandals involving sub-standard Chinese exports ranging from pet food, fish and toothpaste to toys has heaped pressure on Beijing to clean up its manufacturing sector.

In the latest incident, the world's leading toymaker, Mattel Inc, said it would take back more than 800,000 units of Fisher-Price models and Barbie brand playsets because of "impermissible" levels of lead.

China's government insists the problem is a limited one, that the huge majority of its exports are up to standard and that the Western media in particular have been irresponsible in their reporting on the issue, intentionally fanning the flames.

"I must remind some friends that we are certainly extremely sensitive towards this problem, but over-sensitivity caused by only seeing part of the picture, in medical terms, is called an allergy," Health Minister Chen Zhu said.

"I want to tell everyone that they can have confidence in the quality of Chinese products and food safety," he said in his first major news conference since taking the post in late June.

China was ready to work with the international community to tackle the issue, added Chen, a Paris-trained scientist who unusually is not a member of the ruling Communist Party.

"I also want to explicitly say that we support media supervision over health work."
This moron ought to realize media is the least of their problems.

China Barbie Won't Lay Down for Mattel

Who said pornstars are easy?

Not China Barbie. This girl's got spunk and promises to fight The Man.

SEX DOLL: QUIT TOYIN' WITH ME
Porn queen "China Barbie" thinks Mattel should stop focusing on her assets and deal with its own legal problems.

"The site's been up for like five years, so it's like why are they coming after me right now"? she questioned yesterday of the trademark-infringement lawsuit leveled at her Web site ChinaBarbie.com by the California-based toymaker.

"It's because they're in trouble right now with the lead poisoning thing, and everyone's been Googling it and that's how they found out about the site," she told The Post.
Apparently, they like what they see.
Barbie said her site usually gets about 100 views a day, but yesterday it received more than 100,000 after The Post reported the lawsuit.
She's loving the attention.

Mattel in Legal Catfight With Pornstar Barbie

This could get ugly. It's bad enough Mattel has to worry about all the recall of its Chinese-made products, but they're not taking this one laying down.

Barbie Hussy-Fit Over China Doll
Barbie is getting all bent out of shape over a porn star toying with her good name online.

Doll-maker Mattel, which has come under legal and financial siege over the recall of 19 million Chinese-made toys, this week filed its own lawsuit - against the Web site of an adult film star named China Barbie.

Mattel charges that the squeaky-clean image of Barbie is being tainted by her slutty cyberspace doppelganger.

The suit, filed in Manhattan federal court, names Global China Networks and Terri Gibson of Hollywood, Fla.

"This domain name is 'confusingly similar' to and 'dilutive of' the Barbie trademarks," the suit charges. "Global has damaged the reputation, business and good will of Mattel."

China Barbie's $19.95-a-month site describes her as a "cordial young lady" who sat behind the desks of some of the world's leading investment-banking firms and advertising agencies in New York before getting into porn. Her filmography includes "Me Luv You Long Time," "Ethnic Cheerleaders 8" and "Passport to Paradise."
China Barbie was unavailable for comment.
