Barack's Half-Brother In China

Lo and behold, we have yet another relative of Barack Obama. This time it is a half brother who lives in China, and while his name surfaced back in 2008, he quickly disappeared and avoided any media attempt to interview him. His name is Mark Ndesandjo and the little bit that I have been able to find on him is that he supposedly runs an internet company called WorldNexus and teaches piano to poor kids in China. He is married to a Chinese women and is the product of Baracks's woman-hopping and reportedly abusive father and his third wife. He too was born in Kenya and is highly educated, receiving his education here in the United States.

He goes out of his way to distance himself from his more famous half-brother and even goes so far as to disagreeing with his older brother about embracing his African roots.

Ndesandjo, who had an elite education in the United States, collecting a degree from Brown University, a masters in physics from Stanford and an MBA from Emory, did not share Obama’s emotional view of his roots.

Obama painted a disappointed picture of his half-brother in his 1995 memoir, Dreams From My Father, in which he celebrated his own return to Kenya and rediscovery of his African inheritance.

At a rather tense lunch, Obama quoted “Mark” – his family name is never given away in the book - as saying Kenya was “just another poor African country” to which he felt little attachment.

Mark added: “There’s not much work for a physicist, is there, in a country where the average person doesn’t have a telephone.”

According to Obama’s account, Mark looked him in the eye and said: “You think that somehow I’m cut off from my roots, that sort of thing. Well, you’re right.”

In an article in New York The Magazine a columnist summed it up this way.

So, basically, he makes most people look like lazy wastes of space, just like his half-brother.

While a very clear picture is emerging about Barack's daddy as a womanizing, globe-trotting, drunken, abusive adherent of Islam, we still are no closer to learning anything about what makes Barry O tick. I found it odd that he seems to be estranged from so many of his siblings, except when like this trip to China, they can be used for photo ops and feel-good human interest stories. He has a drug-running half-brother living in poverty in Kenya, another who by most accounts is very accomplished, and a half-sister, Maya Sotero, who was the product of Barack's mother and her second husband Lolo Sotero. Add to the mix his aunt who was discovered to be an illegal alien living in government housing in Boston and we have an eclectic mix of people, who with the exception of his sister Maya, seem to want nothing to do with their more famous and powerful brother.

Oh, one last question. Did this half brother Mark Ndesandjo have anything to do with building the recovery.gov website? Might explain why the Obama administration spent $18 million on it and why it is such a colossal flop.

Change! Obama Appoints His Sister to White House Commission

Nepotism you can believe in. Also appointed to this "diverse, non-partisan" group are Tom Daschle, Wesley Clark, Paul Sarbanes and (ahem) NBC's Tom Brokaw.

Some diversity.

Today, President Obama appointed 28 members to the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships. This accomplished group of citizens representing a broad range of backgrounds, interests, and professions are responsible for recommending a group of exceptional men and women to the President for selection as White House Fellows. The commission will be chaired by John Phillips, a partner at Phillips and Cohen Law Firm. Cheryl Dorsey, President of Echoing Green, will vice-chair the commission. A full list of commissioners and their biographies can be found below.

"The men and women of this commission embody what makes the White House Fellows program so special," said President Obama. "These leaders are diverse, non-partisan, and committed to mentoring our next generation of public servants. I'm confident that they will select a class of White House Fellows that demonstrate extraordinary leadership, strong character, and a deep commitment to serving their country."

Gotta love all that diversity.

Obama's Mother Snags a Book Deal

I know you're saying isn't his mother long deceased? Well, yes, she is. But being dead apparently doesn't preclude you getting a book deal considering you're the woman who brought The One into this world.

Duke University Press will publish a book by S. Ann Dunham, the mother of President Barack Obama, in December 2009. Dunham, who died in 1995, completed the dissertation in anthropology for the University of Hawaii in 1992.

The book is based on Dunham’s research, over a period of 14 years, among the rural craftsmen of Java. At the request of Dunham’s daughter, Maya Soetoro-Ng, two anthropologists -- Alice G. Dewey, Dunham’s graduate adviser, and Nancy I. Cooper, a fellow graduate student -- have revised and edited the dissertation, which is called “Surviving Against the Odds: Village Industry in Indonesia.”

“Surviving against the Odds” centers on the metalworking industries in the Javanese village of Kajar, and how they offer a viable economic alternative in a rice-dependent area of rural Southeast Asia.

Maybe they should call it Dreams of His Mother.

Seems to me if this work was so groundbreaking someone would have published it in the past 17 years.

“It is a great privilege for Duke University Press to be publishing this remarkable work by Ann Dunham,” said Ken Wissoker, editorial director of Duke University Press. “Her global perspective and obvious respect for other people’s intelligence and self-direction is a model we all can learn from. Her children clearly have.”

Barack's Asian American Sister

Yes, that right, his sister is Asian American. Seems mommy got around and definitely epitomizes the term "Flower Child". She lived the 60's to the fullest. This is an interview she gave back in Jan to the NYT. The reason I am bringing her up is that factually challenged news service who no longer thinks words are free are running with a gushy story about her, so since they have it, it will be on every other news outlet giving them more free press. Press that McCain can't buy.
I have often wondered how long it would be before Obama threw his African American label under the bus to go along with everything else about him. Just for the record he is mixed race just like his sister.

Barack’s father was Kenyan, and yours was Indonesian. Your mom was what used to be called a freethinker, a white anthropologist from Wichita, Kan., who moved to Jakarta after her second marriage. My mother was a courageous woman. And she had such tremendous love for life. She loved the natural world. She would wake us up in the middle of the night to go look at the moon. When I was a teenager, this was a source of great frustration because I wanted to sleep.
