Great News: Potential Obama Primary Challenger Steps Forward

The man we've all been waiting for.

Former Alaska Sen. Mike Gravel is contemplating a primary challenge to President Obama.

Gravel, who ran for president in 2008, won't rule out a primary challenge to Obama in 2012.

"Both are possible," he told the Daily Caller.

Obama has been taking heat recently from the liberal wing of the Democratic Party, which was angered by his compromise with the GOP over extensions of the Bush-era tax rates for top income earners.

While Gravel mulls his challenge, he made it clear he doesn't think Sarah Palin has a chance of defeating the president.

Gravel called the former Alaska governor a "very talented politician," but added: "Policy wise and intellectually, I think she leaves a great deal to be desired."

"I don't think she could beat Obama," he said.

Since his bid for the White House ended in 2008, Gravel has spoken increasingly about conspiracy theories surrounding 9/11 and called for an investigation into the attacks. He defended his suspicions in the interview.

I expect an announcement from Dennis Kucinich at any moment.

Granted, he's a fringe candidate, and apparently out of his mind. But when it comes time to pander to the real nutcases, what better place than to go to the Huffington Post?

But Ahmadinejad is Iran's elected head of state and by snubbing him, we snub the Iranian government and its people. Right now, such a snub is not only wrong-headed, it's dangerous.

Sadly, most politicians find it much easier to fall back on tough talk, phony moralism and warmongering rather than try to explain the complex reality of international relations. Bush, Bloomberg, Lieberman, and most of my fellow Democratic presidential candidates want you to think the world is divided between good and evil and they are on 'the side of angels.'

This political tactic was always disingenuous, but regarding Iran, it's now downright dangerous.

Naturally, the commenters are kvelling.

Why was Bush allowed to visit ground zero? After all, he ignored all the warnings ahead of time. NO IRANIANS were involved with 9/11, so why should their president be barred from visiting the site? After his 60 Minutes interview, I was impressed. This man is intelligent, and knowledgeable. He probably knows more about the US than Thompson. I agree with you, Senator Gravel. However, since you are a presidential candidate why have you choose this forum to express your views, rather than a press conference using all of the talking points you have expressed here, and taking a leadership role by offering to escort Ahmadinejad to ground zero?

A Native American gaming tribe in California is hosting a presidential forum for Democrat Party candidates this afternoon.

How does the Democrat Party save some face when the heavy-hitters, along with most of the lightweight no-names, have no time for the little people?

Howard Dean to appear at Morongo presidential forum

Former Vermont governor and one-time presidential candidate Howard Dean will join American Indian leaders for a historic presidential forum for democratic candidates today at the Morongo Band of Mission Indians Casino Resort and Spa in Cabazon.

The event, which will feature three of the eight Democratic presidential candidates -- New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich and former Alaska Sen. Mike Gravel -- is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. at the tribal conference center.

All three substantially trail Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., the front-runner in the race for the Democratic nomination, and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., second in the polls.

Dean also will attend today’s event and host a reception for tribal leaders following the forum.

Many of the democratic frontrunners declined to attend the forum because of scheduling conflicts, according to organizer Kalyn Free, a Choctaw from Oklahoma, who said Indian country was still “excited” about the event.

Be sure and stay excited. When it's convenient for them, you-know-who will stop by just long enough to grab a few bags of "love gifts". Just make sure that they're stuffed full, then bend over and kiss your ass good-bye because that is the only concern for Native Americans -- your money into their pockets.
