Hmm: The Return of Vera Baker Rumors

Probably nothing, but it's causing some buzz in Europe. We mentioned this back in 2008 but the story was squashed pretty quickly.

Via a Swiss newspaper, apparently.

Le Matin, the Swiss newspaper has revived its older claims that Obama was involved with Vera Baker. The newspaper has claimed the existence of such video surveillance tapes that show President Barack Obama in a compromising condition with young Vera Baker. The newspaper goes further in its claims by adding that software engineers have succeeded in digging up email interaction between Obama and Vera Baker, since Obama’s presidency.

There could be clear video evidence and it wouldn't matter. Republicans would get the blame or something.

Anyone know French?

Update: Uh oh, the National Enquirer is on the trail. Remember, everyone scoffed when they busted John Edwards and it wound up being true.

'Michelle, Understandably Was Not Amused'

Must be rough when you're America's Supermodel yet the ladies are all after your man.

MICHELLE Obama gave her husband the silent treatment at one point in his campaign for president because so many women "pushed their bodies up against his, slipped phone numbers into his pockets" and whispered lewd suggestions in his ear, a new book out today claims.

In "Barack and Michelle: Portrait of an American Marriage" (William Morrow), Christopher Andersen reports, "On more than one occasion, Barack tried not to look startled when some random woman in the crowd would grasp him firmly by the derriere -- and sometimes try to hold on."

After an appearance in Peoria, Ill., the future president slid into the back of his SUV, and allegedly said, "Jesus, I wish they'd stop grabbing my ass."

"Michelle, understandably was not amused," Andersen writes. He quotes her as saying, ". . . I want to tell these women, 'Back off. Get a life.' It's just embarrassing, that's all."

The book relates, "Michelle knew that all the unseemly fawning nourished Barack's admittedly already oversize ego. 'He's loving it,' she muttered at one point. 'He's a man, isn't he?' Once again, she resorted to giving him the silent treatment."

Andersen cites rumors "that it was more than just the random flirting from strangers that was getting to Michelle. Her husband, it would later be reported, had grown close to an attractive young African-American woman [working for the Obama campaign] named Vera Baker.

"When Baker suddenly and inexplicably vanished from the campaign and resurfaced on the Caribbean island of Martinique, tongues reportedly began wagging. A jealous Michelle, it was suggested, had engineered Baker's departure."

We noted Vera Baker back during the campaign, but the media had little interest in it. They wanted to pretend all was hunky dory with these two.

I wonder how Vera's doing these days? For someone who was once Obama's finance director, the media sure has scant interest in her.

As for the author, he better not plan on getting the slobbering media treatment usually accorded to certain authors. Recall all the attention paid to Kitty Kelley's book about the Bushes and her unauthorized biography on the Reagans.

Update: Since the above link is from the NY Post, owned by News Corp., the owners of Fox News Channel, there will no doubt be some whining about conspiracies out there. Yet the NY Daily News has a lengthy excerpt from this book. Slavish Obama tush-kisser Lil' Mikey Lupica will be so upset. Either way, it should be only a matter of time before the "smear!" crowd starts flipping out.

Just to let you know we haven't forgotten about Obama's girlfriend who was exiled to Martinique. Of course, none of this will matter because everyone wants change.

Obama: Adultery You Can Believe In

We decided to have a little fun Saturday night by posting this item on an alleged girlfriend of Barack Obama being exiled to the Caribbean by the gracious and charming Michelle Obama.

Well, it sure sounds as if there's a whole lot more than we thought originally.

I put that link up as mostly just a bit of baiting of Andrew Sullivan. I didn't expect much to come from it.

Having now spoken to someone tracking the story, I can say:

1) It's not just a silly little rumor.

2) It will break in some form shortly. The question is how prestigious an outlet breaks it. (PS, at best, it won't be that prestigious, at least at first, but there's a lot here so when someone finally touches, there is a good chance of an Edwards-like "Oh yeah, we were working on that too" pile-on.) Fire is being held as those who know the story try to get someone of import to break it; if they pass, it will be flooded out through secondary channels.

3) The story has a Fred Baron. Not The Fred Baron. But actually-- an even better Fred Baron. The woman is "working" in the Caribbean drawing a salary from.... uhhh... let's say from someone who is a big, shiny part of the dirty Chicago political machine. And it makes no sense that she's doing her supposed "job," for which she seems unqualified anyway, in the Caribbean, of all places. It's unclear how she could possibly do this job at all, never mind from the Caribbean. And she's been there for at least a year. (At least.) This isn't some sabbatical or few months' of "work" on an island paradise.

Hmm. How long until we hear about smears?

Who is Vera Baker?

Some people in Chicago claim she was Obama’s Finance Director for his 2004 Senate campaign. FEC Senate campaign records show she was paid a pretty penny as “Finance Director”.

However, people familiar with Obama’s 2004 Senate campaign say Claire Serdiuk was Obama’s Finance Director. Looking through everything we can see online for that 2004 campaign, Claire Serdiuk is consistently listed as the Finance Director - because that’s what she was.

There’s no mention of Vera Baker…but Vera Baker was paid as the “Finance Director” too.

And then, suddenly, Vera Baker was relocated to New York.

Right around the time Michelle Obama got incredibly angry about something. We know it was hard to tell, because Michelle’s angry about something on a good day…but this was EXTRA angry.

And then, even more suddenly, Vera Baker was relocated to the island of Martinique, where she remains.

We hear it’s lovely there. They get lots of sunshine on Sundays. Paradise. A lovely place to read between the lines and ask lots of questions. All reporters should go there and feel inspired.

Previously, she served as the National Finance Director on Senator Barack Obama’s 2004 Senate campaign. She also served as the Deputy Political Director at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
