I don't even know how this is possible legally. For me this just adds to the growing list of items on the list of things this administration has done to simply ignore the law or in the case of EPA invent new laws, to continue to push a far left progressive on the American people. Will these immigrants be able to obtain work permits while remaining in the country? Yes, officials said, though that is not new. Undocumented persons have always had the opportunity to apply for temporary work permits, which are reviewed on a case-by-case basis upon request.

From Black Panthers intimidating voters to launching investigations into who you deem to be political enemies there has never in my half century of life been a president who has so openly ignored and flaunted the laws of this country and never with an eye towards doing good for the country but rather to push a far left ideology and promote his reelection bid.

You know who this edict is really directed at? At those states who are passing legislation to arrest and deport the ever burgeoning illegal immigrant population in their state. The message is real simple. Sure you can apprehend them. Sure you can report them. We ain't doing nothing. It sends a very clear signal to the illegals to quit worrying about state laws since states don't have the power to deport, that is a federal function. Without any federal legislative authority what so ever he has effectively neutered the states and spit in the face of all honest immigrants and the tax payers of America. Hey maybe this part of grand, super delicious, yet be disclosed or written budget plan. You know with this decree we can close the Border Patrol, pare down the size of ICE and decrease the total number of employees at DHS. Who am I kidding, you can't fire federal unionized workers.

I once thought that even though this guy was a complete disaster as a choice for president that America could survive 4 years of him or any president for that matter. My God I survived Carter, but in the last 6 months or so I no longer believe that. It no longer is a joke to say that Carter was the best case scenario for this administration. They are making Carter, hell they make King George, look like the good 'ol days.

Heartbreak: Illegal Aliens Denied In-State College Tuition

Even more crushing, the fact they're illegal may prevent them from enrolling in college at all.

What the hell is going on here? Someone's enforcing the law?

Some states are making it harder for illegal immigrants to attend college by denying in-state tuition benefits or banning undocumented students.

In the past two years, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia and Oklahoma have refused in-state tuition benefits to students who entered the USA illegally with their parents but grew up and went to school in the state. That represents a reversal from earlier this decade, when 10 states passed laws allowing in-state rates for such students.

This summer, South Carolina became the first state to bar undocumented students from all public colleges and universities.

North Carolina's community colleges in May ordered its 58 campuses to stop enrolling undocumented students after the state attorney general said admitting them may violate federal law.

"The new trend is to kick illegal aliens out of college altogether," says William Gheen of Americans for Legal Immigration Political Action Committee, which opposes taxpayer subsidies for undocumented immigrants.

Josh Bernstein of the National Immigration Law Center, an illegal-immigrants advocate, says sweeping anti-immigration bills are "a very serious threat" to the overall illegal population.

Maybe it'll be such a threat they'll pack up and leave.

I can't see how there's any debate here. The first word of the headline is illegal. That says it all. If they want to be legal, get in line with everyone else who's done it the right way.

AP Unwittingly Makes Case Against Illegals

Someone named Ace Stryker at the Associated Press has a heart-tugging item today lamenting the plight of an unidentified illegal alien who was killed in an auto accident last year.

The foreigner is buried in a small-town cemetery, against a barbed-wire fence in an unmarked plot set aside for poor people.

He might be Mexican. He might be Guatemalan. But he's simply called No. 8, a man with no name because his identity is still unknown, a year after he was killed in a car wreck with seven other illegal immigrants in southeastern Utah.

"This is the Garden of Eden of Utah down here," said Philip Palmer, coordinator at Blanding City Cemetery, referring to the mountain peaks in four states visible from the graveyard. "It's a good place to put him."

Well, this is far from an anomaly.

More than 2,000 illegal immigrants have died in the Southwest since 2002, and many are nameless in death — buried as anonymous victims of heat stroke, car crashes or other calamities.

They typically carry no ID, just the clothes on their back and the dream of a life better than the one they left behind.

"They're filling our morgues," said Todd Matthews of Livingston, Tenn., who works for the Doe Network, a volunteer organization that helps law enforcement with unidentified remains.

More than half of the border-crossing deaths in the Southwest since 2002 have occurred in Arizona's Pima County, which includes Tucson, on the Arizona-Mexico border.

Bruce Anderson, a forensic anthropologist in Tucson, said a quarter of the victims there lack names. Many remains are little more than bleached bone after a few days in the sun, making them almost impossible to identify.

"They die in the middle of nowhere," Anderson said. "Most Americans die in their car, in their house, or with somebody they know."

Yes, and because they're legal residents, they likely have ID. What a concept.

What Ace fails to note is a simple, glaring fact: If these people didn't enter the United States illegally, they'd likely still be alive.

Why Mrs. Clinton Wants Illegals to Have Driver's Licenses

Two simple words: Moter Voter.

Or as it became known in some precincts: Auto Fraudo.

The Motor Voter legislation was a windfall for Democrats in their never-ending quest for fraudulent votes and The Pantsuit knows she need every possible illegal vote in order to win. Bamboozling the idiot vote just isn't enough to scam her way into the White House.

The background here is the National Voter Registration Act, commonly known as "Motor Voter," that President Bill Clinton signed into law in 1993. It required all states to offer voter registration to anyone getting a driver's license. One simply fills out a form and checks a box stating he is a citizen; he is then registered and in most states does not have to show any ID to vote.

But no one checks if the person registering to vote is indeed a citizen. That greatly concerns New York election officials, who processed 245,000 voter registrations at DMV offices last year. "It would be [tough to catch] if someone wanted to . . . get a number of people registered who aren't citizens and went ahead and got them drivers' licenses," says Lee Daghlian, spokesman for New York's Board of Elections. Assemblywoman Ginny Fields, a Long Island Democrat, warns that the state's "Board of Elections has no voter police" and that the state probably has upwards of 500,000 illegal immigrants old enough to drive.

Thanks to former President Clinton, eight of the 19 9/11 hijackers were registered to vote.

Who knows, they'll probably be casting their vote for Hillary, the choice of terrorists everywhere.

The potential for fraud is not trivial, as federal privacy laws prevent cross-checking voter registration rolls with immigration records. Nevertheless, a 1997 Congressional investigation found that "4,023 illegal voters possibly cast ballots in a disputed House election" in California. After 9/11, the Justice Department found that eight of the 19 hijackers were registered to vote.

Under pressure from liberal groups, some states have even abandoned the requirement that people check a citizenship box to be put on the voter rolls. Iowa has told local registrars they should register people even if they leave the citizenship box blank. Maryland officials wave illegal immigrants through the registration process, prompting a Justice Department letter warning they may be helping people violate federal law.

Gov. Spitzer is treading perilously close to that. Despite a tactical retreat this week--he says he will only give illegal immigrants a license that isn't valid for airplane travel and entering federal buildings--Mr. Spitzer has taken active steps to obliterate any distinctions between licenses given to citizens and non-citizens.

In a memo last Sept. 24, he ordered county clerks to remove the visa expiration date and "temporary visitor" stamp on licenses issued to non-citizens who are legally in the country. A Spitzer spokeswoman explained the change was made because the "temporary" label was "pejorative," given that some visitors might eventually stay in the U.S. Under fire, Mr. Spitzer backed down this week, delaying the cancellation of the "temporary visitor" stamps through the end of next year.

The left will stop at nothing to steal elections, and Spitzer and his boss Hillary don't even care if you know about it.

Spitzer to Let Illegals Get Driver's Licenses

Spitzer Policy Will Let Illegal Immigrants Get Driver's Licenses

Illegal immigrants in New York will be allowed to obtain New York State driver's licenses under a new policy that the Spitzer administration is expected to announce shortly, a source said.

Starting in 2008, the Department of Motor Vehicles will accept foreign passports and birth certificates from immigrants as proofs of identification for new license applications. Immigrants will no longer need to provide legal status paperwork or a Social Security card, the source said.

The changes could not be immediately confirmed by the Spitzer administration.

County clerks around the state came to Albany yesterday to meet with officials from the Department of Motor Vehicles to discuss the new policy, according to the source, who said the commissioner, David Swarts, briefed the Bloomberg administration.

"The facts show that restricting immigrants's access to driver's licenses does nothing to improve security," a spokeswoman for Mr. Spitzer, Christine Anderson, told the Associated Press in October. "All it does is drive immigrants into the shadows, creating a class of people with no public records."

But they're here illegally!

None of this will make these illegals comply with our laws anyway, as they've flouted requirements and are still being rewarded.

In 2004, to comply with an executive order issued by Mr. Pataki, the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles began sending out warning letters to New Yorkers with licenses whose Social Security numbers did not match federal data.

About 58% of the 600,000 individuals who received the letter verified their Social Security numbers. Those individuals who did not verify their numbers will be able to get a legal license by December, the source said.

This is madness.

Rough Road for Shamnesty

One would think in the face of overwhelming displeasure with this bill, the proponents would just pack it in.

I guess not.

The White House says it has the votes to resurrect the immigration bill on the Senate floor today, though enough senators said they may change their minds in other votes later this week to leave the bill's ultimate fate in doubt.

To pass the Senate, the bill must earn 60 votes today, survive a series of amendments, earn 60 votes in a follow-up vote likely to come Thursday, and then pass with majority support — all difficult tests on an issue that deeply divides both parties, and American voters.

"Our intelligence suggests that there will be the votes there to move on to the bill and to begin considering amendments," White House Deputy Chief of Staff Joel Kaplan told reporters yesterday as President Bush and his administration make a final push for the bill's passage.

Time to euthanize this mess.

The current effort to enact an immigration reform bill amnesty for illegal aliens is all but kaput. Harriet Reid knows it, the Fat Drunk knows it; and the Gitmo inmate's sympathizer from South Carolina knows it. In spite of the anger coming from Americans - Democrat and Republican alike - George W. Bush is clueless.

President Bush pressed divided Republicans on Tuesday to support him on immigration overhaul, saying "status quo is unacceptable."

In a rare visit to the Capitol for lunch with the Senate's GOP membership, Bush said he recognized that immigration was an emotional issue and that many do not agree with him. Still, he said, "Now is the time to get it done."

That's right, get it done, prove how in touch with the base you are.

The measure supported by the White House, which legalizes up to 12 million unlawful immigrants and tightens border security, stalled last week in the face of broad Republican opposition.

Bush's personal effort to salvage the derailed bill came as key lawmakers reached for a deal that could quickly revive the measure. He needs to change enough minds among GOP senators to push through a top domestic priority.

"The White House will stay engaged," Bush told reporters after the lunch.

"Some members in there believe that we need to move a comprehensive bill, some don't," the president said. "I understand that. It's a highly emotional issue."

But it was unclear whether Bush changed any minds. His approach has sparked a backlash among some of the party's core supporters, who see the legislation as amnesty for people who sneaked into the country.
