Hundreds of Raging Tea Party Rioters Arrested

Having sack and pillaged their way across the fruited plain, raucous and angry so-called "Tea Partiers" have now spread their mayhem across the border into Canada. They should consider taking a cue from their peaceful, non-violent friends on the left as to how to properly demonstrate with dignity and civility.

Police said they were preparing for more disruptions Sunday after groups of protesters burned cars, hurled bricks and smashed windows as they tried to penetrate the fence surrounding the G-20 summit.

"I do not believe that the individuals bent on vandalism and violence in our city have finished with their intent, so we will remain vigilant," Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair said Saturday night.

More than 300 people were arrested Saturday, and 412 have been arrested since June 18, said Jillian Van Acker, spokeswoman for the Integrated Security Unit. There were no reports of serious injuries to either protesters or police, she said.

Blair told reporters that packs of disruptive demonstrators infiltrated peaceful protests in order to cause chaos and distract police.

"These criminals rely on the anonymity of hiding in a larger group of the curious and the naive," he said.

At least four police cars went up in flames and smoke during hours of confrontation.

Protesters left behind broken windows and graffiti. Blair said police used tear gas after warning a group of protesters "engaged in acts of destruction" Saturday.

Security estimates hover around $1 billion in Canada.

Peaceful Leftists Celebrate May Day in Berlin, 273 Police Injured

Maybe they ought to take a cue from Tea Party protesters on how to get your message out without resorting to violence.

Then again, these are leftists we're talking about. They're not interested in peace.

More than 270 police officers were injured in this year's May Day riots in the German capital, prompting criticism Saturday of Berlin security officials and calls for more officers.

Though the majority of the 273 officers suffered only minor injuries Friday, 14 were badly enough hurt that they will need to take time off work, said Berlin police chief Dieter Glietsch. He did not have more specifics.

In all, 5,800 police officers were on hand to try to keep a lid on the violence that has become a yearly ritual in Berlin. They used tear gas, pepper spray and water cannon as some of the roughly 5,000 leftist demonstrators, marching under the motto "capitalism is war and crisis," threw stones and bottles.

Dozens of demonstrators were injured but there were no exact figures; 289 were arrested. A bank and a fire station had windows broken.

This year's demonstrations turned violent earlier than in previous years, leading to more injuries and arrests. Last year, 112 police officers were hurt and 150 demonstrators arrested.

Rainer Wendt, chairman of one of Germany's national police unions, criticized Berlin interior minister Erhart Koerting's handling of the operation, saying protesters were allowed too much time to get out of hand and urging that a "no tolerance" policy be adopted in the future.

"Whoever throws a stone or wears a mask must be immediately taken out of play," he told the Neuen Osnabruecker Zeitung newspaper.

Six Czechs hospitalised after row between skinheads, anarchists
Skinheads and anarchists who chanced to meet at Prague's namesti Republiky square started a fight after which six injured people were taken to hospital, Jirina Ernestova and Ladislav Bernasek, spokespersons for the Prague emergency service and police, confirmed to CTK.

The injured, aged 18-38, have suffered bruises and brain concussion, the server tn.cz said.

A youth, aged 24, has also broken wrists on both of his arms, Ernestova said.

One day - maybe - the Nazis just might get a clue.

Two ambulance cars and one car with a doctor were called to the scene.

The case is being investigated by the police. The anarchists seem to have started the attack. They vanished from the scene before the police came. The police are searching for them. If caught, they will face breach of the peace charges.

Neo-Nazi groups plan revenge for Kristallnacht fiasco
The failure of neo-Nazis to march through Prague’s Jewish quarter (Josefov) – and the subsequent skirmishes between skinheads and anarchist demonstrators – have certainly dominated the headlines in recent days. Images of battered and bloodied skinheads being taken away by police were flashed around the world’s media, who described Saturday as a fiasco for the far right. But could next weekend turn into a second installment?

“The neo-Nazis’ Waterloo” was how Lidove Noviny newspaper described Saturday’s clashes, featuring an image of a neo-Nazi skinhead, his nose bleeding and looking very much worse for wear. The far-right – massively outnumbered by black-clad anarchist demonstrators – certainly received a bloody nose on Saturday. But observers believe the neo-Nazis are now out for revenge. A group calling themselves “Autonomous Nationalists” have released a statement on their website, calling for a gathering at 2pm (8AM EST ed.) on Saturday to “mourn the death of the freedom of speech.” Klara Kalibova monitors far-right extremism for an NGO called Tolerance and Civic Society: “The Autonomous Nationalists are a relatively young group, about 2-3 years old. They’re active mostly in Central Bohemia. They belong to the neo-Nazi wing of right-wing extremism. They’re linked to National Resistance, the militant neo-Nazi group which is active all over the Czech Republic. We’ve also found a link between them and German neo-Nazis – the Autonomous Nationalists have supported actions by the NPD, which is a neo-Nazi political party in Germany.”

The Autonomous Nationalists plan to gather on Palacky Square in Prague 2. Unlike the Young National Democrats, the far-right group that was denied permission to march through the Jewish quarter on Krystallnacht, the Autonomous Nationalists don’t actually need permission for their demonstration on Saturday. Palacky Square was recently designated a “Hyde Park Corner”, where anyone can gather to discuss the issues of the day. Saturday’s meeting is unlikely to be the polite “discussion” the organisers of the Czech “Hyde Park” had in mind – the neo-Nazi skinheads are out for revenge, and the gathering is likely to attract a large contingent of anarchist opponents.

Groups such as Tolerance and Civic Society warn that the far-right is becoming more and more active in the Czech Republic. The number of racially-motivated attacks is down compared to the 1990s, when skinhead attacks on Romanies and foreigners – including several murders - were common. Now, warn observers, such groups are making a concerted bid for political respectability.

Anarchists Already Planning 2008 Convention Disruptions

The sniveling left is already feverishly making plans to disrupt the 2008 GOP Convention. Naturally, the AP gives them a voice 10 months in advance.

With less than 10 months to go before the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis-St.Paul, activists are already plotting to crash the party.

On the drawing board: A mass march to protest Iraq; human roadblocks; schemes to disrupt public transportation; and talk of a temporary free state near the main convention site, St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center.

With tens of thousands of people expected to visit the Twin Cities during the convention Sept. 1-4, local and federal law enforcement are getting ready as well.

Civil rights groups and attorneys are talking with police and demonstrators to ensure laws are followed during what will likely be the largest crush of people the state has seen in years.

"It's better to be planning early rather than late," said Jordan Kushner, coordinator of the Legal Observer and Political Defense Committee, a committee within the National Lawyers Guild. "People have as much right to the streets as the Republicans who are coming here to engage in their activities."

St. Paul Police Commander Doug Holtz said the city is working out details on how to accommodate protesters, but declined to go into them. "The city of St. Paul is going to be well-prepared to have an excellent convention," he said.

They also plan to relive their glory days of 1968 and have some fun at the Democrat Convention in Denver.

The group "Recreate 68" — a reference to the troubled 1968 Democratic National Convention — seeks to serve the same umbrella function as the RNC Welcoming Committee in Minnesota, by supporting other protesters.

Recreate 68 is anti-war and opposed to the two-party system, member-spokesman Glenn Spagnuolo said.

Nothing like going back to a time when you helped drive the Democrat party off the cliff.

Maybe some year this cadre of human debris will get jobs and move on to adulthood.

I'm all for peaceful protest, but that's not what these people want. They want to shut down the GOP Convention and stifle free speech. They're the antithesis of what they purport to represent.

Human Debris Riot in Rome

ROME, June 9 (Reuters) - Police in riot gear charged and fired tear gas at demonstrators protesting against U.S. President George W. Bush's visit to Rome on Saturday.

Dozens of demonstrators threw bottles at police and overturned tables in the centre of the Italian capital.

The protesters, some wearing motorcycle helmets and bandanas to cover their faces, also shattered a window of a bank.

At least two policeman were injured by glass and at least one marcher was reported injured in a clash with police.

Tear gas wafted into Rome's famous Piazza Navona, which had been the scene of a demonstration that was for the most part peaceful.

Organisers of the march, some of them using loudspeakers mounted on trucks, urged the violent demonstrators to stop and later invited peaceful marchers to leave the area.

Police were seen taking away some of the protestors and local media reports said some were arrested for covering their faces in demonstrations, which is illegal in Italy.

Militant opponents of this week's Group of Eight summit claimed responsibility Tuesday for a firebomb attack on a Mercedes car dealership in Zurich.

An anonymous fax sent to The Associated Press and other media organizations also demanded the release of G-8 opponents arrested by German police. The overnight attack caused about 200,000 Swiss francs (US$160,000; 120,000 euros) in damage.

A protest in Rostock on Monday once again turned violent with black-clad left-wingers flinging bottles at police. More from the so-called Black Bloc have descended on the town just in time for a demonstration on Monday evening.

The gaggle of losers congregating in Germany for the G8 Summit claim to be a peaceful group. Facts on the ground prove otherwise.

Protesters have clashed with police, throwing stones and flagpoles at officers during a demonstration against the upcoming G8 summit in Germany.

Officers in helmets and body armour at one point briefly retreated before a hail of stones, while other officers chased down fleeing protesters at the rally in Rostock in northern Germany.

"There are massive assaults on police officers at the city's harbor right now," police spokeswoman Cordula Feichtinger said.

"The situation is currently very chaotic and we have to get it under control before I can tell you how many people have been arrested."

More than 100 officers were hurt in the violence. Some of the injuries were serious, a police spokesman said.

Sounds pretty peaceful to me.

And the summit doesn't begin until Wednesday.
