FLASHBACK, 2007: Fringe Anti-War POTUS Candidate Upbraids His Future Self

Remember how George W. Bush kept us all in the dark about his intentions in Iraq?

Me neither.

Of course, Bush could have allowed C-SPAN into the Situation Room and Obama still would have gotten his panties in a bunch about transparency. Oh well. Now keep in mind this is the same guy who one week ago launched a war kinetic military action against Libya and didn't bother giving Congress a clue until three days later.

The American people? We're penciled in for a debriefing this coming Monday.

Obama Administration Throws Anti-War Crowd A Bone

Of course in appeasing the far left peaceniks and the growing totalitarian regime in Russia he is also throwing the countries of the New Europe under the bus.

President Barack Obama has decided to scrap plans for a U.S. missile defense shield in the Czech Republic and Poland that had deeply angered Russia, the Czech prime minister confirmed Thursday.

I guess this his way of trying to make peace with the far left in his party over kicking the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy down the road. I am trying to figure how you get much further left in foreign policy then you do with this crowd in DC. Their track record so far includes rebuking and imposing sanctions on Honduras for enforcing their constitution, embracing nuclear rogue nations such as North Korea and Iran, applauding Venezuela and Cuba and now conceding to Russia, and managing to piss off Canada and China with their trade policies. Issuing apologies is one thing, disarming what should be our allies is a travesty. Poland has a little bit of experience with not having a strong defense when you border nations bent on domination.

Recently a new slogan has been making the rounds in the former Soviet satellite countries that is basically a twist on the Marine theme of no greater friend, no worse enemy which goes something like being an enemy of the USA may be dangerous, but being their friend is downright deadly.

I would suggest that if Barry O can't find his spine that he go back to being a legal representative for community organizers, since it seems to be the only thing he was good at besides giving good speeches, in which everything said is nothing but words in a teleprompter and the word hypocrisy doesn't exist in his world.

Lightweight Gets Heavy

It's pander time for Barack Obama, who thinks trips to Darfur, Kenya and Ukraine have enabled him to master foreign policy.
Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama said yesterday that the United States has let the world down under the leadership of President Bush, who he said has been a "disappointment" to other countries, as he proposed doubling the foreign-aid budget as a way of recapturing global leadership.

"This president may occupy the White House, but for the last six years, the position of leader of the Free World has remained open," Mr. Obama, Illinois Democrat, said in an address to the Chicago Council on Global Affairs about the U.S. international role.
OK, so by just willy-nilly doubling our foreign aid budget and making nice to our enemies, they'll like us more? Obama naively thinks peace through weakness and cash will win people over.
Getting out ahead of the crowd, Mr. Obama called for boosting the size of the U.S. Army and Marines, training more troops in language skills and expanding efforts to contain the spread of weapons of mass destruction. And he called for doubling U.S. foreign assistance spending by 2012 -- a move that he said would mean $50 billion a year -- noting that doing so would help meet the goal set by British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Not for nothing, but the size of the Army and Marines have increased since 2001 and part of our agenda in the Mideast indeed has been to contain WMD. But this may be a tough sell to the tinfoil-hat crowd in his party, since they believe no WMD exist.
