Father Buries Daughter Alive for Talking to Boys

Those charming ladies from NOW are too busy protesting Tim Tebow to offer comment. In fact, they never do seem to have a problem with honor killings. Probably don't want to offend anyone.

Befriending boys reportedly got a 16-year-old girl buried alive by relatives in a horrific honor killing.

Cops in Turkey found the teen's corpse bound in a 6-foot-deep grave in the family's chicken coop, AFP is reporting, citing Turkey’s Anatolia news service.

The results of the autopsy performed on the girl were "blood-curdling," according to an anonymous expert.

"According to our findings, the girl, who had no bruises on her body and no sign of narcotics or poison in her blood, was alive and fully conscious when she was buried," the source reportedly said.

Soil in the girl's stomach and lungs confirm that fact, forensics experts reportedly told a Turkish news service.

A tipster alerted cops to the girl's whereabouts. She had reportedly been missing for 40 days.

Local media are reporting Medine's father and grandfather have been arrested for the murder, and are in jail awaiting trial, according to the AFP.

Her father is said to have been angry the girl had male friends, and her grandfather had reportedly beaten her in the past for interacting with boys, according to The Guardian, which cited a report posted on the Web site Hurriyet, a Turkish newspaper.

The reporter here is obviously too afraid to use the word Muslim.

Islam Edging Closer To Being Classified as a Mental Disease

We all knew this was coming. It is one of the favorite tactics of defense lawyers and that is to get their clients classified as having some sort of mental disorder in order to avoid the harsher penalties that may be passed on them.

Here are two more case studies to promote this cause.

Remember the guy in Arizona who ran down his daughter because he thought she was too westernized? Yup, his lawyer is pushing for a mental evaluation.

An Iraqi immigrant accused of killing his 20-year-old daughter because he believed she had become too westernized doesn't understand court proceedings and may need a mental-health evaluation, his lawyer said Wednesday.

And, of course, lawyers for the Ft. Hood mass murderer are also trying to do the same thing.

The attorney for the Fort Hood shootings suspect says his client will be evaluated next month to determine his mental status that day and whether he's competent to stand trial.

I have thought for a long time that followers of Islam were nuts. I mean, come on, when your big ambition in life is to strap explosives to your body and blow up a bunch of innocent people in the hopes of getting 72 virgins, your thought process has to be slightly screwy.

Joys of Islam: Women Buried Alive 'for Choosing Husbands'

No doubt this will get lost in the media's 24/7 coverage of all things Sarah Palin, but it's worth noting how women are treated in certain countries for trying to be independent.

Israr Ullah Zehri, who represents Baluchistan province, told a stunned parliament that northwestern tribesman had done nothing wrong in first shooting the women and then dumping them in a ditch.

"These are centuries-old traditions, and I will continue to defend them," he said.

"Only those who indulge in immoral acts should be afraid."

The women, three of whom were teenagers and whose "crime" was that they wished to choose who to marry, were still breathing as mud and stones were shovelled over their bodies, according to Human Rights Watch.

The three girls, thought to be aged between 16 and 18, were kidnapped by a group of men from their Umrani tribe and murdered in Baba Kot, a remote village in Jafferabad district.

According to some reports, Baluchistan government vehicles were used to abduct the girls, and the killing was overseen by a tribal chief who is the brother of a provincial minister from the ruling Pakistan People's Party.

Some accounts said that two older relatives had tried to intervene, but they too were shot and buried alive with the teenagers.

More than six weeks after the deaths no one has been arrested and human rights groups have accused local authorities of trying to cover up the executions.

Mr Zehri told parliament that a fuss should not be made over the killings, however several politicians stood up in protest, describing the so-called honour killings as "barbaric".

Human Rights Watch described the murders as a "heinous criminal offence".

'God Will Protect Me'

Good luck with that, Chaudhry.

A Muslim father accused of murdering his daughter in a so-called "honor killing" told cops God would look out for him, as he confessed to the grisly strangulation, authorities said yesterday.

"God will protect me. God is watching," Pakistani immigrant Chaudhry Rashid allegedly confessed to cops. "I strangled my daughter."

At a preliminary hearing yesterday, Detective Mike Christian told a judge Rashid copped to killing his daughter on July 6 with a bungee cord because she had filed divorce papers and was having an extramarital affair.

Christian said Rashid was found sitting in his driveway smoking a cigarette when cops arrested him.

Rashid, 56, waddled into a Georgia courtroom yesterday in shackles to fight murder charges in the death of his only daughter, Sandeela Kanwal, 25, at his home in Jonesboro, an Atlanta suburb.

Kanwal, who worked at a Wal-Mart, wanted to escape her loveless six-year marriage to a Chicago man, Majid Latif, cops said.

Rashid went into a murderous rage after apparently growing tired of numerous arguments with his daughter, concerned that their clashing cultural values would reflect poorly on him and his family, said the detective.

Rashid listened intently to the court proceeding as a court-appointed interpreter translated the grim details of his daughter's murder into his native Urdu.

Defense attorney Alan Begner asked the judge to throw out the case because of a lack of evidence, but he was turned down.

He also downplayed the notion of "honor killing."

"I have no comment about an honor killing or whether it's true or relevant at all," said Begner. "It does a disservice to the man, his family and his children."

Lck of evidence? He confessed, moron.

Despite Still Being a Virgin, Jordanian Woman is Murdered in 'Honor Killing'

I'd remind everyone Islam is a form of mental illness, but I'd be repeating myself.

Here's the latest example.

A 26-YEAR-old Jordanian man was charged with murder today after his 23-year-old sister was shot dead in an apparent "honour" killing.

The unnamed suspect allegedly shot his sister six times last night in the Nqeira area south of the capital Amman, a security official said.

"He turned himself in and confessed to murdering his sister to cleanse his family's honour because she disappeared from home for four months with a man," the official said.

"He killed her the moment she returned home last night. But forensic tests showed that the girl was a virgin."

It was the eighth reported so-called honour killing this year, according to Jordanian authorities which in 2007 recorded 17 such murders - a slight rise on previous years.

Honor Killing in Germany Stirs 'Debate'

What the hell is there to debate? This is a brutal, savage act by twisted Islamists who reside in the throes of some warped 7th-Century religion.

Ahmad O. stabbed his sister more than 20 times because the 16-year-old girl didn't live her life according to his values. Women's rights advocate Seyran Ates is now calling for German society to intensify its efforts to stop honor killings. "A girl isn't a whore if she goes out," she says.

Morsal O. was 16, a young girl with joie de vivre. She laughed a lot and she was a go-getter. She was a good student, had ambition and a lot ahead of her in life. But she was murdered on Friday, May 9. Her 23-year-old brother Ahmad, with the help of a cousin, lured her to a parking lot near a subway station in the German port city of Hamburg under a false pretense and stabbed her 20 times with a knife.

If Morsal had known she would be coming face to face with her brother, she probably wouldn't have gone that evening. The two hadn't been on talking terms for quite some time, and Ahmed had threatened his sister repeatedly. Just before her murder, Morsal had sought refuge from her family, who moved to Germany from Afghanistan 13 years ago, at a number of city social facilities, most recently living for more than a year in a youth safe house. But she never succeeded in entirely breaking off contact with her family.

For more than an hour, emergency doctors fought to save Morsal's life, but she died on the way to the hospital. The girl's parents rushed to the scene, but they weren't allowed to attend to their daughter because they had forgotten their IDs in the midst of the turmoil.

Morsal died alone.

Naturally, the first inclination is to rationalize it away.

"Maybe he did it out of love," Moral's cousin Mujda said, when asked why Ahmad stabbed his sister that night. Mudja O. gave an extensive interview to SPIEGEL TV following the crime, discussing the stabbing and her cousin's possible motives for the killing. "We spoke to him and he told us, 'My sisters are my life. She should be put away before anything happens to her. The last sentence that we heard from him was that he loved his sister."

It was not the first time Ahmad, who worked in an auto parts store, had come to the attention of the police for violent acts, either. In police circles, he was known as a serial offender, constantly in trouble for beatings and even stabbings. Morsal had even tried to get charges pressed against her brother with the police after he repeatedly attacked her, but she later withdrew them.

Just a misunderstood youth.

What we're really confronted with here simply is insanity.

According a United Nations report, around 5,000 women fall victim to "honor killings" around the world each year. The true figure, however, is most likely much higher. Between January 1996 and July 2005, 55 honor killings were reported to the police in Germany alone. Yet it is difficult to record the crime because there is no official police definition.

"We have to stop talking about 'so-called honor killings,'" lawyer and women's rights activist Seyran Ates told SPIEGEL ONLINE. "There is no such thing. These are not 'so-called' honor killings, but plain and simple honor killings. This term honor is based on a woman not being allowed to express her own sexuality. It means: no premarital sex, no boyfriend. If a girl or young woman doesn't stick to this then she is seen as a scourge -- someone who must be killed to in order to restore honor."

Honor can be washed clean with the blood of the "guilty one," she explains. "The term 'honor,' that honor killings are based upon, has nothing at all to do with the Western understanding of the word," says Ates. "And it can only be overcome by publicly rejecting it. Children have to be taught in school that this term is dehumanizing. We have to take a stand within society. We have to make it very clear: 'If you think like this, then you are living in the wrong century. You are breaking the rules of the constitutional state in which you live, and you are not respecting human or women's rights.'"

That'll get a fatwa issued pretty damn quick.

Gruesome 'Honor' Killing in Iraq

Wow, this story is just sickening. What's also sickening is they call this an honor killing. There's nothing honorable about hacking your daughter to death.

A teenage Iraqi girl who fell in love with a British soldier when he was in Basra was murdered by her father in an "honour killing", it was revealed today.

Rand Abdel-Qader, 17, was suffocated and then hacked at with a knife after her family discovered she was friends with the 22-year-old soldier who she knew only as Paul.

The pair first met when Rand was working on an aid project for displaced families but it is thought the soldier is unaware of the girl's fate.

She was stamped on, suffocated and stabbed - leaving her with puncture wounds all over her body, including her face.

Her own mother, Leila Hussein, has spoken out about the crime, revealing how her husband called out that he was cleansing "his honour" as he carried out the murder.

She told the Observer he was arrested after the brutal murder but was released without charge two hours later because it was an "honour killing".

"He was released two hours later because it was an 'honour killing'. And unfortunately that is something to be proud of for any Iraqi man," she told the paper.

These people are absolute cavemen.

Sgt Ali Jabbar of Basra police said: "Not much can be done when we have an 'honour killing'. You are in a Muslim society and women should live under religious laws."

Jordanian Murders Virgin Sister in 'Honor Killing'

More tolerance and diversity on display from the religion of peace.

POLICE said they had charged a Jordanian with premeditated murder after his 23-year-old sister and her boyfriend were shot dead in an apparent "honour killing".

"The suspect shot his sister four times and her Syrian shepherd boyfriend six times when he caught them (together) red-handed early on Sunday'' in the eastern Shumari natural reserve near the desert city of Azraq, a spokesman said.

"He turned himself in shortly after the crime, and forensic tests proved that his sister was still a virgin when she was murdered.''

The spokesman said two of the suspect's cousins had been charged as accessories to the crime, the third such killing this year.

Of course, he'll probbaly walk free with a sentence slightly less than community service.

The killers often receive light sentences if convicted, as parliament has twice refused to reform the penal code despite pressure from human rights groups to end the near impunity of the perpetrators.

As in other countries across the Muslim world, some Jordanians consider sex out of wedlock a stain on a family's reputation. An average of 20 women are killed by male relatives in Jordan each year.

Honor Killing Epidemic in Kurdistan

Honor killings are one of the great shames of the Muslim world, and it appears to be an epidemic in Kurdistan.

Kurdish authorities said they have launched a public awareness campaign to address the soaring rate of honor killings in the autonomous Kurdistan region of northern Iraq.

In the past four months, 27 Kurdish women were killed for being involved in illicit relationships. This is in addition to the 97 women who tried to commit suicide, Human Rights Minister Yusuf Mohamed Aziz was quoted as saying by the London-based Al-Quds Al-Arabi on Tuesday.

Aziz said the Kurdistan government formed a committee to combat various forms of violence against women, honor killings -- also referred to as "killings to wash disgrace away" -- being the most flagrant.

Awareness campaigns have been launched, a human rights course has been included in the school syllabus, and Islamic preachers have condemned the practice as un-Islamic.

The tradition of honor killing arises from the societal conviction that honor is more important than human life. It is widely practiced among Kurds in Iraq, Iran, and Turkey, in tribal Pakistan, and some Arab societies.

What's disturbing is how little attention this gets from the media and women's rights groups, especially in the United States.

You would think an organization such as NOW would be mentioning this more frequently.

I guess they have other, more pressing, agendas.

The statistics are horrifying.

According to its 2007 report, violence against Kurdish women rose 18 percent between March and May 2006. Statistics showed that in the first quarter of 2007, 15 women were killed with blunt tools, 87 by fire, and 16 from gunshot wounds. In the second quarter, the figures were eight, 108, and 21, respectively.

A report by Kurdistan's Human Rights Ministry said the number of women who committed suicide by self-immolation (setting themselves on fire) was 36 in 2005 and rose to 133 in 2006.

Brothers to be Retried in Honor Killing

Two members of the Religion of Peace will be retried in a German court for the "honor killing" of their sister, who was shot point-blank in the face because the savages disapproved of her lifestyle.

Cultural differences, I guess.

A German court has ordered the reopening of the trial of two Turkish immigrants who were acquitted of charges related to the honor killing of their sister, who apparently led a lifestyle that was too Western for her conservative siblings.

Germany's Federal Court of Justice in Leipzig on Tuesday ordered the 26- and 28-year-old brothers of Hatun Sürücü to be retried. Sürücü's youngest brother, who was 18 at the time, was convicted of shooting and killing the 23-year-old single mother.

"The Whore Lived Like a German" screamed the headline at the time of the killing, which fueled an intense debate in Germany.

Hatin's crime, it appears, was the desire to lead a normal life in her family's adopted land. The vivacious 23-year-old beauty, who was raised in Berlin, divorced the Turkish cousin she was forced to marry at age 16. She also discarded her Islamic head scarf, enrolled in a technical school where she was training to become an electrician and began dating German men. For her family, such behavior represented the ultimate shame -- the embrace of "corrupt" Western ways. Days after the crime, police arrested her three brothers, ages 25, 24 and 18. The youngest of the three allegedly bragged to his girlfriend about the Feb. 7 killing. At her funeral, Hakin's Turkish-Kurdish parents draped their only daughter's casket in verses from the Koran and buried her according to Muslim tradition. Absent of course, were the brothers, who were in jail.

The crime might be easier to digest if it had been an archaic anomaly, but five other Muslim women have been murdered in Berlin during the past four months by their husbands or partners for besmirching the family's Muslim honor. Two of them were stabbed to death in front of their young children, one was shot, one strangled and a fifth drowned. It seems hard to fathom, but in the middle of democratic Western Europe -- in Germany, a nation where pacifism is almost a universal mantra -- murderous macho patriotism not only exists but also appears to be thriving. It may even be Germany's liberalism -- and its post World War II fear of criticizing minority cultures -- that has encouraged ultra-religious families to settle here.

The problem is that much of this insular and ultra-religious world is out of public view, often hidden in inner-city apartments where the most influential links to the outside world are satellite dishes that receive Turkish and Arabic television and the local mosque. Tens of thousands of Turkish women live behind these walls of silence, in homes run by husbands many met on their wedding day and ruled by the ever-present verses of the Koran. In these families, loyalty and honor are elevated virtues and women are treated little better than slaves, unseen by society and often unnoticed or ignored by their German neighbors. To get what they want, these women have to run. They have to change their names, their passports, even their hair color and break with the families they often love, but simply can no longer obey.
