The Next Phony Noose Story?

I stumbled across this story of a human rights activist who found a noose attached to the front porch of her home and something about the story just didn't pass the smell test. In re-reading the story as presented by the AP and reported on the local television station I realized what it was. Look at these two passages and see if something doesn't set off bells in your head.

First:

That incident prompted her to move to Spokane, along with the fact that her 7-year-old son wanted to be in a more multicultural school.

And then this part:

In the meantime, she said she's trying to keep things normal for her son, who thought the noose was a dog toy. She didn't explain any further

Now this is either a very smart 7-year-old kid who knows what a multicultural school is but can't tell the difference between a dog toy and a hangman's noose or mommy isn't exactly being truthful.

I love the parts about how she says she has lived in Mississippi so she knows all about nooses, which is immediately passed along with no challenge. It is the bigotry of the media and stereotyping of people in the media and in liberal la-la land which allows stuff like this to be said and go unchallenged.

We can no longer let it be allowed to pass as fact whenever statements such as hers are made and by merely invoking a southern state, that lends credence and validation to anything that makes their case, further promoting their misguided and totally fictitious impressions of people living in the south.

The events she described may have indeed occurred, but what has me steamed is the fact that she had to throw out stereotypes of people in the south and the news felt it was good enough to include in the story.

The other thing that got me is that she has had more run-ins with racists in the Great Pacific Northwest then I have had in decades of living in the south. Maybe all the racists live up there and not down here.

Nooses at Home Depot spark outrage

PASSAIC -- Police said Thursday that the discovery of three nooses hung across a shelf in the hardware department at The Home Depot here would be treated as a bias incident. Meanwhile, members of the local NAACP were concerned about the discovery amid increasing reports of the symbols of hatred appearing across the nation.

"We are treating this as a bias incident until it's proved otherwise," Passaic police Capt. Tony Zampino said Thursday. "Obviously, it is fashioned in some way where it was of concern to somebody."

On Wednesday, workers at The Home Depot on Dayton Avenue found different colored ropes in the shape of nooses -- a racially charged symbol of the lynching violence of the segregation era -- hanging from a shelf, witnesses said. Zampino said The Home Depot did not report the incident to police. The Home Depot employees disposed of the ropes and did not keep them for the police to investigate, he said. The store manager did not notify police of the incident until 7 p.m. Wednesday, he said. Police said they do not believe there is a store videotape to view whoever created the nooses.

This seems even flimsier than the alleged Columbia noose incident, which sparked worldwide outrage and immediate protests, then quickly disappeared from the news.

Meanwhile, there's another reported case on Long Island.

Today's young black males kill more young black males in a year than the Ku Klux Klan killed in its entire history. Historians have documented more than 4,700 lynchings of African-Americans between 1882 and 1968. In 2005, the latest full year of FBI statistics, almost 8,000 black Americans were murdered, mostly by other black Americans.

It is an ironic sign of progress that the white knuckleheads who made history by making nooses have been driven into the shadows. They hang nooses, then run and hide. The terror inflicted by black knuckleheads stays with us.

Whatever Happened to That Columbia Noose Incident?

A week has now passed since Columbia University reluctantly handed over videotapes to police in order to investigate the noose incident that garnered worldwide coverage.

Since then, not a peep.

Curious, huh?

Well, it has, of course, spawned more alleged incidents, the most recent being reported today.

Naturally, there's outrage.

October 18, 2007 -- A pair of nooses - including one around the neck of a tar-painted doll - were found hanging from a forklift truck on Long Island yesterday afternoon at the Town of Hempstead highway yard in Roosevelt.

The find was the latest in a recent rash of noose hangings that have fanned painful memories of segregation-era lynchings of blacks in the deep South.

Hung nooses have recently roiled tensions in at a school in Jena, La., at Columbia University, at a post office near Ground Zero and at the Hempstead Town police offices.

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray said her office and Nassau County cops are investigating the incident. Murray said the highway department, which employs roughly 50 people, is ethnically diverse and has no recent history of racial tension or disputes.

Murray said that she is unsure if the nooses were hung by an employee or an outsider who accessed the open yard.

"These type of hate-filled acts have no place in government or society," Murray said, adding that any town employee found taking part in the noose placements would face serious legal consequences.

OK, I certainly don't condone any of these incidents, but why does the media hop to it when there's an incident, but does little to no follow-up?

One would think after the instant protests and rallies sprang up at Columbia last week, the New York media would be dogging Columbia and the NYPD for information.

Curiously, however, there is silence.

While we're discussing Columbia, everyone's favorite media darling weighs in.

Liberals are so invigorated by the story about a noose being found on an obscure Columbia University professor's door that now nooses are popping up all over New York City. Liberals love to make believe the Night Riders are constantly at their doors.

I'll be shocked by a noose appearing on a college campus the day an actual racist does it.

Could Columbia at least produce one student or professor who supports racism before holding another "rally against racism"? Every concrete example of the racism allegedly sweeping the nation's campuses keeps turning out to be a fraud. Far from "institutional racism," there is "institutional racial hoaxism" run amok in this country. Will anyone rally against that?

I'm sure once the kiddies over at Hillary Clinton's Media Matters are done transcribing Rush Limbaugh's latest excursion into broadcast excellence, they'll no doubt be checking in.

UPDATE: Another incident today in Indiana. This guy just sounds like an idiot.
