Hotel Closes, Strippers Stay

Gotta love Atlanta.

The Clermont hotel is sort of an icon in Atlanta and has been around almost as long as the city has existed, but come the end of the year it will be shutting its doors because it failed recent health department inspections.

The Clermont, however, is much more then just a hotel and there is an associated lounge which will be allowed to remain open.
The Clermont was built in 1924 as an apartment building. It was converted to a hotel in 1940. Decades ago it earned its reputation as a hip spot for a younger crowd to watch overweight, older dancers. Last year, writers from the famous comedy outfit Second City visited the lounge for a skit about Atlanta. One of them mused that it seemed to hire dancers based on their "internal" beauty.
Overweight, older dancers is not something you're going to find just anywhere, but one of the security guards who works at the hotel offers this bit.
"My friend says it's the only hotel in America that hookers can't get into,"Jeffress said Wednesday night as a group of women watched a lone stripper.
Well, it at least had that going for them.

Cops Mistaken for Strippers

This is one of those side perks for the male officers, assuming they keep themselves fit.
Two German police officers responding to a complaint about loud party noise on Saturday night were met with cheers and applause from the guests who mistook them for male strippers.

"A young woman was giving a party and there seems to have been some confusion initially because the partygoers thought the two officers were a strip act," a spokesman for the police in the south-western town of Simmern told SPIEGEL ONLINE on Monday.

Male strippers often dress as policemen and the line "We've been called to investigate a disturbance" can serve as a cue for them to discard their uniforms and perform an erotic dance.

Not this time though. "The misunderstanding was swiftly resolved and calm was restored," the spokesman said. "And there was no theft of any parts of the uniforms."
I hope they were smart enough to return when their shift was finished.

Good News: IDF is Using Elite Female Stripper Death Squads

Nothing quite opens the eyes like seeing strippers and death squads in the same headline.

Maybe it's too good to be true, but who cares?

The Palestinian Authority newspaper Al-Hayat Al-Jadida carried a story this past week about IDF tactics that surpassed all previous accusations of supposed Israeli deviousness - poisoned candies, hormone-laced gum, poisoned wells, magnetized belts -in its bizarreness.

The Palestinian Authority newspaper Al-Hayat Al-Jadida carried a story this week about IDF tactics that surpassed all previous accusations of supposed Israeli deviousness - poisoned candies, hormone-laced gum, poisoned wells, magnetized belts -in its bizarreness.

According to an Al-Hayat Al-Jadida front page report, the IDF has turned to using armed, female strippers in its war on upstanding Palestinian boys. The newspaper reports that when the Arab rock-throwing begins, IDF soldiers run for cover. Then, the story continues, after some time of hiding, an Israeli woman stands up on top of a barricade and begins to perform an alluring strip tease. Innocent Arab teenage boys, distracted from the business of rioting, are enticed to approach, when, according to the newspaper, the woman -- an IDF soldier -- shoots them with a pistol she had hidden in her underwear.
Ben Hur gets the hat tip for this one, although I'm really annoyed at myself for not having had the radar up for this one.

Update: More from Hot Air.
