Bernie Marcus: Obama WH is 'Amateurs Surrounded by Amateurs'

Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus whacked the hapless Barack Obama a couple months back when he he assessed Obama's business acumen, saying "I'm not sure Obama would understand anything that I'd say" as he lamented the woeful state of the economy.

Marcus steps up to the plate again, saying the Obama White is populated with "amateurs surrounded by amateurs."

Ouch.
The Georgian who every Republican presidential candidate wants in his camp still hasn’t decided who he’s going to back. But although Bernie Marcus believes in abortion and gun control, he knows who he won’t support: Barack Obama.

In an interview at the Georgia Public Policy Foundation meeting here, the billionaire philanthropist and Home Depot co-founder lambasted the “amateurs in the White House” as “amateurs surrounded by amateurs.”

But he would not pick sides in the fight for the Republican nomination.
Marcus is far from a doctrinaire conservative, but is wise enough to put social issues aside.
Yet he’s willing to embrace candidates with diametrically opposite social views if they agree with him on economics. He said the next president needs to cut Social Security and Medicare benefits while holding the line on defense spending.

“I’m not an arch [conservative] kind of guy, but people like myself want to see someone in Washington who understands that if the country is not strong economically, we can’t be strong period,” he said.

Obama Now Under Water in Connecticut

If he stares at himself long enough he might figure out what the problem is.
Connecticut isn't a place that would go on anybody's list of swing states but Barack Obama is in a statistical tie with Mitt Romney there, leading only 47-45.

Obama's poor showing in Connecticut is mostly a function of his own unpopularity. Despite having won it by 23 points in 2008 his approval numbers are now under water at 48/49. That represents a 17 point net shift in the wrong direction since PPP last polled the state in March- at that time Obama's approval was a positive 55/39 spread. The decline has come because he's unpopular with independents (41/53) and also because an unusually high 20% of Democrats disapprove of the job he's doing.

Romney's favorability is 41/42, not great numbers but better than he is doing in most states. In the head to head with Obama he takes independents by 12 points at 48-36 and gets crossover support from 14% of Democrats while losing just 9% of the Republican vote.

The competitiveness in Connecticut is limited to Romney. Against the rest of the Republican field Obama leads by double digits- it's 12 points against Rick Perry at 53-41, 13 against Ron Paul at 51-38, 16 against Newt Gingrich at 54-38, and 19 against Michele Bachmann at 55-36.

The numbers in Connecticut shape up as part of a broader pattern- Obama is much weaker in New New England than he was in 2008. Earlier this month we found him ahead of Romney by just 13 points in Massachusetts where he won by 26 last time. In August he had a 20 point lead in Vermont over Romney, after taking the state by 37 points over John McCain. When we polled New Hampshire in July Obama had a 2 point deficit to Romney after winning the state by 9 last time.

Dopey Ron Paul on Al-Awlaki Vaporizing: We're 'Assassinating American Citizens Without Charges'

Why does anyone take this crank seriously?
Paul, a Texas congressman known for libertarian views, says the killing of Anwar al-Awlaki on Yemeni soil amounts to an "assassination." Paul warned the American people not to casually accept such violence against U.S. citizens, even those with strong ties to terrorism.

Anwar al-Awlaki was considered one of the most influential al-Qaida operatives wanted by the United States. U.S. and Yemen officials say he was killed in a U.S. air strike targeting his convoy Friday morning.

Paul made the comments to reporters after a campaign stop Friday at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire. He said America's leaders must think hard about "assassinating American citizens without charges."
I guess the fact this piece of shit was born on American soil makes him immune from drone strikes.

Obama: America's Gotten Soft or Something

Just taking cues from our Dear Leader. This dude is softer than a marshmallow, and he's got the nerve to call us soft.

Pelosi: It's Just a Weird Coincidence My Brother-in-Law is a VP for Solar Company That Received $737 Million From Obama

She insists her brother-in-law has nothing to do with any of this, it's all just some odd coincidence. That damn Matt Drudge and those evil conservative bloggers are just riling people up or something.
Department of Energy officials and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi have slammed as absurd reports from conservative blogs that inflated the connection between Pelosi's brother-in-law and a Nevada solar power project that received a $737 million federal government loan guarantee this week.

SolarReserve, based in Santa Monica, received the loan guarantee to build a 110-megawatt solar-thermal plant in Tonopah, Nev., that will use the sun's heat to create steam to drive a turbine.

Among SolarReserve's investors is Pacific Corporate Group, a private-equity firm headquartered in La Jolla (San Diego County). Ronald Pelosi, the brother-in-law of the House Democratic leader and a former president of San Francisco's Board of Supervisors, is an executive with the firm.

That connection was enough for a blog at the conservative Weekly Standard to erroneously trumpet the headline, "Crony Capitalism: $737 million loan given to Pelosi's brother-in-law."

Drudge Report, the widely read conservative online aggregator, picked up the story and soon conservative media circles were ablaze with what they thought was the next Solyndra - the failed Fremont solar firm that received a $528 million federal loan.

The story disappeared from the Drudge site by Thursday afternoon.
It "disappeared" because he rotates headlines. That doesn't make the story any less true. Supposedly, this is a "fake" scandal or something.

Crony Capitalism: Beverly Perdue Donors Set to Cash In On Lucrative Land Deal

It pays to have friends in high places, especially when you're a bunch of greedy Democrat donors.
A state lawmaker and a group of Democratic political donors with ties to Gov. Beverly Perdue are poised to sell land at a handsome profit for a tire plant that's being lured with $100 million in state and local incentives, according to public records reviewed by The Associated Press.

As North Carolina's chief executive, the governor is a key decision maker in large incentives deals involving state money. She also helps appoint the board members of a foundation that's been asked to provide part of the tire plant's package. Perdue's campaign has received more than $52,000 from five men with an ownership stake in the Brunswick County industrial park proposed for the new facility.

The governor's son, Garrett Perdue, is also a lawyer and site-selection consultant for an influential law firm that a county official said was advising the tire company. The firm, Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, does not disclose which projects the younger Perdue works on, citing attorney-client privilege.
How convenient her son is also involved in this deal.

Move along, nothing to see here. Just play dumb.
Bradshaw also said he had no idea the owners of the proposed Project Soccer site have been frequent contributors to the Democratic Party or Gov. Perdue.

Campaign finance records show Stephenson and members of his family have donated more than $85,000 to Democratic candidates over the last 20 years, including $14,000 to Perdue since 2004. Records show $8,000 in contributions to former Senate President Pro Tempore Marc Basnight, the Manteo Democrat who appointed Stephenson to the Golden LEAF board.

Walters and his wife have donated more than $34,000 to elected Democrats other than himself, including $14,000 to Perdue.

William E. Musselwhite, a Lumberton lawyer who owns a share of the land, has given more than $22,000 to state Democrats, including $14,500 to Perdue.

Dennis T. Worley, a Tabor City attorney and another of the owners, has given more than $28,000 to Democrats, including $7,700 to Perdue.

Kyle A. Cox, another Tabor City lawyer and part property owner, gave more than $11,000 to Democrats, including $2,000 to Perdue.

Bradshaw, the economic developer, said he doesn't care who owns the land.

"I don't know who these people are," Bradshaw said. "I don't know who contributes to who. I just want to bring these jobs to Brunswick County."

Liberal Icon Calls Obama Stupid

As that deep thinker Janeane Garofalo would say, this is pure racism, straight up. Granted, he's just saying what all the lefties think but are too afraid to say in public.
Former Cuban president Fidel Castro denounced President Obama's suggestion that U.S.-Cuba relations could improve if the communist nation were willing to become more democratic, calling Obama's suggestions "stupid."

"Many things will change in Cuba, but they will change by our own effort and in spite of the United States. Maybe before that empire falls," Castro wrote in a state newspaper.

Obama had said on Wednesday that America would consider lifting economic sanctions on the island nation if Cuba adopted democratic elections and a freer society.

"If we see positive movement then we will respond in a positive way," Obama said.

Castro sarcastically derided the gesture.

"How nice! How intelligent!," Castro said. "So much kindness has not permitted him still to understand that 50 years of blockade and of crimes against our homeland have not been able to break our people."
Damn, that dude is snarky. Really, Fidel, is this how you treat your comrades?
Castro also blasted Obama for the treatment of five Cuban agents convicted of spying in the United States. Cuba has maintained they have been held unjustly, and strongly objected to the United States' insistence that one of the men, scheduled for release from prison within a year, be forced to serve his probation period of three additional years in the country. Castro said the ruling was unjust but expected.

"Otherwise, the empire would cease to be the empire and Obama would cease to be stupid," Castro wrote.

Another Liberal Success Story: Little Improvement in Reading Scores for Chicago Public Schools

Clearly this means they just need to dump more billions into the failed Chicago public schools. And to think one of the architects for this miserable showing is now the Secretary of the so-called Department of Education.
So after waves and waves of reform, you thought Chicago public elementary schools had made tremendous progress in the last 20 years?

Think again.

Despite millions of dollars in fixes and programs, Chicago’s elementary grade reading scores have barely budged over the last two decades, a new report by the University of Chicago’s Consortium on Chicago School Research has found.

Math scores improved only “incrementally” in those grades, and racial gaps in both subjects increased, with African American students falling the most behind other groups, especially in reading — an area pushed heavily under former Mayor Richard M. Daley.
A shame they don't have some qualified community organizers to help the kids out.

They're functionally illiterate, but no doubt they're just brimming with self-esteem.

Good News: Union Thugs to Join Silly Wall Street Protest

Let's all pretend the Democratic Party isn't behind this so-called protest. Especially while their base joins the movement.
Despite the common cause, the city's established left did not initially embrace the protest, which began Sept. 17 and has been made up mostly of young people angry about the widening income chasm in the country, the growing influence of money on politics and police brutality, among other issues.

But as the action nears the start of its third week, unions and community groups are eager to jump on board. They are motivated perhaps by a sense of solidarity and a desire to tap into its growing success, but undoubtedly by something else too—embarrassment that a group of young people using Twitter and Facebook have been able to draw attention to progressive causes in a way they haven't been able to in years.

The protestors have transformed the park into a village of sorts, complete with a community kitchen, a library, a concert stage, an arts and crafts center and a media hub. All of that has enabled them not just to sustain the action but to build momentum. And as celebrities like Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon, Russell Simmons and Cornel West have joined in, the city's traditional activists have been forced to jump into the fray.

“It's become too big to ignore,” said one political consultant.

Some of the biggest players in organized labor are actively involved in planning for Wednesday's demonstration, either directly or through coalitions that they are a part of. The United Federation of Teachers, 32BJ SEIU, 1199 SEIU, Workers United and Transport Workers Union Local 100 are all expected to participate. The Working Families Party is helping to organize the protest and MoveOn.org is expected to mobilize its extensive online regional networks to drum up support for the effort.
Oh good, just what they've been missing: A bunch of Communist thugs.

None of these people even have an idea what they're protesting. But as good little Obama drones, they'll all just chant mindless slogans and look really angry.

Anwar Al-Awlaki Won't Be Down for Breakfast

Death by a mysterious airborne virus. That or a drone strike. Whatever the case, this piece of shit has assumed room temperature. The best news I've read today, by far.
Anwar al-Aulaqi, the radical Yemeni-American cleric and one of the most influential al-Qaeda operatives wanted by the United States, has been killed in northern Yemen, Yemen’s Defense Ministry said Friday morning.

The ministry, in a text message sent to journalists, said “the terrorist Anwar al-Aulaqi has been killed along with some of his companions,” but did not provide further details. The report could not be independently verified; Aulaqi has been falsely reported killed before.

In a separate e-mailed statement, the Yemeni government said that Aulaqi was “targeted and killed” five miles from the town of Kashef in Yemen’s northern Jawf province, 87 miles east of the capital Sanaa. The attack, the statement said, was launched at 9.55 am, local time.

While the Defense Ministry said Aulaqi was killed in Marib province, other government sources said he was killed in neighboring Jawf province.

A Yemeni security source, speaking on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said Aulaqi was killed in an air strike, possibly by an unmanned American drone. The Obama administration in recent months have escalated the use of drones to target al-Qaeda-linked militants in Yemen and Somalia. U.S. officials could not be reached for comment.

If true, Aulaqi’s death would be considered a significant victory in the U.S. war against global terrorism. Believed to be 39 or 40 years old, the New Mexico-born cleric has been implicated in several attacks on U.S. soil, including the 2009 shootings at Fort Hood, Texas; an attempt later that year to bomb a Detroit-bound airliner; and an attempt in 2010 to send parcel bombs on cargo plans bound for the United States.
For some odd reason they're now spelling his name as Aulaqi. Whatever. He's got bigger things to worry about now.

Aw: Moochelle Goes to Target

In the immortal words of John McEnroe, you cannot be serious! Are we to expect this imperious, arrogant woman just decided on a whim she had to make a run to Target? Is there anyone with a pulse buying this nonsense? The photo here is linked to this pablum-puking puff-piece on how wonderful she is and how toned her arms are, yet makes zero mention of any midday forays to Target.

ABC News has some actual details.

First Lady Michelle Obama was spotted this afternoon on a recession-friendly shopping trip at the Target in Alexandria, Va. A casually dressed Mrs. Obama was snapped by Associated Press photographers wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses pushing her cart and carrying shopping bags.

While the White House does not provide details about the First Lady’s personal activities, “It is not uncommon for the First Lady to slip out to run an errand, eat at a local restaurant or otherwise enjoy the city outside the White House gates,” her Communications Director Kristina Schake said.

Accompanied, naturally, by an army of Secret Service. But don't forget, she's just one of us, making the sacrifices. Let's all just suffer amnesia and forget her global jetsetting and separate planes to Martha's Vineyard. She's saving us money by shopping at Target!

'This Is By Far the Worst Web Video I've Ever Seen'

You've been warned. Perhaps the most mind-numbingly idiotic political video ever.

According to these geniuses, it's the Republicans who are hapless. Oh, really?

Obama's 'Visibly Amused' Illegal Alien Uncle Yuks It Up in Court

This really should help him win over some sympathy from those wild-eyed wingnuts who think this drunken bum should be deported. After all, driving drunk is so hilarious, isn't it?
A giggling Onyango Obama — the president’s illegal alien half uncle — made a brief appearance in Framingham District Court today on charges he was drunk when he nearly struck an unmarked police cruiser last month.

Obama, 67, was visibly amused at the media spectacle, stifling laughter several times before his 30-second court appearance where a judge set a Nov. 17 pre-trial conference.

Obama did not acknowledge a Herald reporter’s question upon arrival at Framingham District Court and neither he nor his lawyer made any comment on his way out where they were followed to the parking lot by a horde of media.
Apparently ignoring reporter's questions runs in the family.

Perdue Flailing: 'My Point Was One of Sarcasm'

First it was a joke. Then it was hyperbole. Now it's sarcasm.

Actually, she was dead serious, but facing the end of her political career she'll say just about anything now.
Democratic Gov. Bev Perdue has long had a reputation for shoot-from-the-hip remarks that leave her audiences shaking their heads, part of her folksy, I'm-just-a -coal-miner's-daughter persona.

But none of her previous comments hit a political nerve like her startling suggestion this week that Congress suspend its elections next year to concentrate on fixing the economy.

In the connected digital age, her remarks - made in response to an audience question at the Cary Rotary Club and reported online by The News & Observer - leaped across the Internet and were soon the subject of a provocative headline on the Drudge Report, scathing commentary by Rush Limbaugh, and dark warnings in the blogosphere by the conspiratorial minded of the coming of a "Banana Republic."

On Wednesday, Perdue continued to try to walk back her comments, which her staff initially described on Tuesday as hyperbole.

"My point was one of sarcasm," Perdue told reporters in Thomasville. "We really just need to encourage our leaders who are elected to work together and solve America's problems."

She added: "It was taken out of context from my perspective. But honest to goodness, who would think something like that would be said seriously. It's ridiculous to have this kind of discussion about it."

But Republicans and other critics were not going to let her off the hook so easily.

"In light of Gov. Perdue's support for suspending Congressional elections, I want to state clearly, on the record, that I do NOT support suspending our next gubernatorial election," said Republican Senate leader Phil Berger.

"The next time they tell you how stupid Sarah Palin is or Michele Bachmann, just think back to this day and North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue," said Limbaugh, the conservative talk show host.
Don't you just love when these Democrats claim their own words were taken out of context. Surely Republicans would be given the benefit of the doubt if they said something so insane, right?

'It Disrespects the Nation'

Sorry, but this clown has done more to disrespect the nation than anyone I can think of.
There are several political signs attracting all kinds of attention in one Uptown neighborhood.

On Wednesday, crowds gathered at the corner of Calhoun and Coralie streets, looking at several signs depicting President Barack Obama as either a dunce, a puppet or a crying baby in a diaper.

"It disrespects the nation -- and President Barack Obama represents our nation," said Skip Alexander, as he looked at one of the signs. "He represents everybody, not some people."

Dozens of protesters came by the house in the 1500 block of Calhoun throughout the day, demanding the sign come down.

"He wouldn't do that to [President] Bush, I'm sure. It's just insulting. It's insulting," said C.C. Campbell-Rock. "He's going to have to take them down."

"This is nothing put pure racism," said Raymond Rock. "This is a disgrace."

The home is owned by Timothy Reily, who declined to be interviewed about the signs. Former Mayor Ray Nagin showed up at the house and went inside to speak with Reily. He emerged later and would not comment on what they discussed.

Some neighbors tell Eyewitness News that Reily has been putting the signs up for months. Some of the protesters learned about the signs through a local radio station on Wednesday morning.

"He can put up a sign if he wants to. It doesn't bother me," said Harold Gagnet, a neighbor.

"I think it's fine. It's on his property," said Katherine deMontluzin. "He can say whatever he wants."

Good News: Hugo Chavez Has Kidney Failure

He won't be missed.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who has been fighting cancer, was rushed to a Caracas military hospital after suffering kidney failure, according to a report late Wednesday -- which sparked an angry response from the government.

The leftist, staunchly anti-US stalwart Chavez went into the Military Hospital in Caracas on Tuesday morning, the El Nuevo Herald newspaper reported on its website, citing anonymous sources with knowledge of the case.

"He was in fairly serious overall condition," one of the sources told the Miami-based Spanish-language daily. "When he arrived, he was in quite serious shape and that is why he was brought in for emergency care."

Venezuela's Information Minister Andres Izarra appeared to deny the report in a posting on Twitter.

"Those who should be admitted are the journalists of the Nuevo Herald, except into a madhouse [instead of a hospital]," Izarra tweeted.

On Sunday, Chavez sought to assure Venezuelans he was healthy, telling them that cancer-fighting chemotherapy treatment has not left him with any debilitating side effects.

Chavez returned to Venezuela late last Thursday following what he described as a fourth and hopefully final round of chemotherapy in Cuba.
More here.
In a sign his condition might be deteriorating, Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez has been sent again to the Carlos Arvelo Military Hospital in Caracas. Wednesday, his doctors were considering transferring him to the private Caracas Clinics Hospital, where he could be better treated for his renal-insufficiency problems, said sources close to the situation.
Let's just hope he can hold on until his good buddy Sean Penn arrives at his bedside.

Breaking: 112th Congress 'at Risk of Spike in Incivility'

No idea what planet these people reside on, but it sure isn't Earth.
Want civil discourse? Look no further than the House of Representatives.

The House this year has been a relative bastion of politeness, according to a new study by the Annenberg Public Policy Center. But the center said the 112th Congress looks ripe for incivility to spike with the upcoming 2012 election and the heater campaign rhetoric that comes with it.
Thus far — historically, at least — the House has been surprisingly civil.

Despite some blips — Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama referred to “socialist members of this body” in April, and North Carolina Rep. Mel Watt said in June that Republicans “just make stuff up,” members’ language has been mild compared with attacks in past decades, the study shows.
Really, are those the only examples to cite?

How did they miss this?
“This is the effort that we are seeing of Jim Crow. Some of these folks in Congress right now would love to see us as second class citizens. Some of them in Congress right now with this Tea Party movement would love to see you and me… hanging on a tree,” Carson said at a Aug. 22 Congressional Black Caucus Job Tour even in Miami.

“Some of them right now in Congress right now are comfortable with where we were fifty or sixty years ago,” Carson added. “But it’s a new day with a black president and a Congressional Black Caucus.”
Must have been on vacation or something. Somehow this civil discourse flew under the radar.
California Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters, who had some tough words for the leaders of her own party last week, took aim at the other side on Saturday, saying that the tea party could "go straight to hell."

"I'm not afraid of anybody," Waters said at a weekend community meeting in Inglewood, California. "This is a tough game. You can't be intimidated. You can't be frightened. And as far as I'm concerned, the tea party can go straight to hell."
Can you handle any more civility?
Republicans' budget plan would put seniors' lives at risk, the incoming chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) said Thursday.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the Florida congresswoman tapped by President Obama to lead the DNC, said she stood by her characterization of Republicans' 2012 budget as a "death trap" for seniors.
Those are just a few of dozens of example we could use of this "surprisingly civil" discourse we've witnessed.

There's also an endless supply of clips calling Republicans "hostage takers" from throughout the year. But according to Annenberg we're merely "at risk" of a spike in incivility. So you Republicans are on notice. Don't be mean-spirited or it will be your fault that things become uncivil.

'The Buck Has to Stop Someplace'

Having now been caught handing out a $737 million loan to a company linked to the Pelosi mob on top of the Solyndra scandal, at some point someone in the Obama administration might be held accountable, no? How about we start with Energy Secretary Steven Chu?
The controversy over a $535 million loan guarantee to the now-bankrupt California solar firm Solyndra is threatening to dim the star of Energy Secretary Steven Chu, a physicist and Nobel Prize winner who has rarely been thrust into the political spotlight.

Republican lawmakers have set their sites on Chu, who for three years has managed to avoid being dragged into a litany of political battles waged by Republicans and the White House on energy and environmental issues.

The GOP has for weeks lobbed a slew of allegations at the administration, arguing officials rushed a final decision on the loan guarantee and missed a series of red flags that hinted at the company’s financial troubles. Solyndra declared bankruptcy two years after receiving the Energy Department loan, resulting in layoffs for 1,100 workers.

Now, Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee are increasingly turning their attention to the role that Chu played in overseeing the loan guarantee program.

The ongoing fight over Solyndra could put Chu, who is not known as a political brawler, in uncharted waters.

Republicans are pointing to a recent Los Angeles Times story that says Chu disagreed with Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and others when they raised concerns about the loan guarantee program during a meeting last October.

“We need to hear from Secretary Chu and [White House Office of Management and Budget Director Jack] Lew to fill in some of the blanks,” Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Texas), who sits on the Energy panel’s investigative subcommittee, told The Hill in a phone interview Wednesday. “The buck has to stop someplace and presumably it stops with the heads of those agencies.”
But Chu is an esteemed Nobel Prize winner, so expect him to have complete memory loss if he even bothers to show up to testify. Don't expect his boss to fire him since that would reflect poorly on his judgment.

Just keep handing away billions to to solar scams and move along, Barack. The people love you or something.

Resist We Much: MSNBC 'Star' Al Sharpton to Lead March for Obama Jobs Bill

I'm pretty sure there's some kind of journalistic conflict of at play here, but who said MSNBC represented journalism? I recall the MSNBC suits had a problem with that lunatic Olbermann contributing to a specific candidate. But what would they say about this? They can't say anything, of course, because that would be raaaaacist.
The Rev. Al Sharpton said he will lead a march in Washington next month in support of President Barack Obama's jobs plan - and he dismissed blacks who criticize Obama over high black unemployment as having backed Hillary Rodham Clinton in 2008.

As Sharpton announced plans Wednesday for the Oct. 15 March for Jobs and Justice, he was asked whether there is a double standard in failing to hold Obama accountable for joblessness among blacks. The leader of the Congressional Black Caucus, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., has said there is and that had President Bill Clinton failed to do the same, black leaders would have marched on the White House.

The double standard, Sharpton said, is that most black politicians who publicly criticize Obama did not initially back his 2008 presidential bid - they supported Hillary Clinton, who is now secretary of state.

"We did march when (Bill) Clinton was president. I led the march on racial profiling. They weren't in the march, so maybe the reason they didn't think nobody marched on Clinton was because they missed it," Sharpton said.
The AP story makes zero mention that he now works for MSNBC.

Just imagine how many jobs could be created or saved if Obama's buddy just paid the millions in taxes he owes.

Deep Thinker Eva Longoria on Obama: 'He's Been Governing In, Like, a State of Emergency'

It's nice to see, like, that Obama like has the support of some Hollywood bubblehead. He's so dreamy!
Longoria, who told Kimmel she knows Obama well from her advocacy work on Latino issues, said she took advantage of her time with the President to tell him that he has her support.

"He's been governing in, like, a state of emergency since the time he went into office," said Longoria, who added that "we haven't really seen him do what he can do."

She also took the opportunity to slam what she called "an extremist movement happening” that threatens to derail the commander-in-chief.

Longoria called the movement "very dangerous because it's not the character of America."

The actress didn’t mention the Tea Party by name but when Kimmel asked her specifically about the conservative group she said she can see how it might be "a source for good comedy."

Longoria's comments follow less than a week after actor Morgan Freeman came under fire for calling the Tea Party "a racist thing."
Just keep talking, folks, and keep throwing more money at Obama. Your bitter tears next November will be all the more delicious.

Does the Winner Get Apple Slices?

If I didn't know better I'd think this is a parody. Awhile ago they were raffling off dinner with Obama for a $5 donation. Like his political stock, the price is now discounted to $3.

Pathetic.

Wonderful: Obama OK's Two Solar Loans Worth $1 Billion

I guess that pesky Solyndra scandal won't be deterring the corrupt president from doling out more of your money. Why should Solyndra stop him? It's not as if many in the media are even reporting it.
Facing a Friday deadline, the Energy Department has approved two loan guarantees worth more than $1billion for solar energy projects in Nevada and Arizona.

Energy Secretary Steven Chu said the department has completed a $737 million loan guarantee to Tonopah Solar Energy for a 110 megawatt solar tower in Nevada, and a $337 million guarantee for Mesquite Solar 1 to develop a 150 megawatt solar plant in Arizona.

The loans were approved under the same program that paid for a $535 million loan to Solyndra Inc., a now-bankrupt solar panel maker that has become a rallying cry for Republican critics of the Obama administration's green energy program.
They actually have $5 billion more ready to give away by Friday.

Great.

Update: More on those other loans forthcoming.
The Department of Energy is set this week to announce whether nine federal loan guarantees amounting to $6.5 billion for green energy projects will get final approval.

The number of full-time, permanent jobs they would create? According to the DOE's own figures, a grand total of 283. That is nearly $23 million per job.

It's also a drop in the bucket toward the five million green jobs President Obama promised as a candidate in 2008.

MA Democrats Revolt Against Obama: 'Scott Brown’s Last Opponent Was the Hand-Picked Person, Too'

Selected, not elected

Looks like some Democrats in Massachusetts aren't to thrilled to see the White House anointing shrieking Marxist Elizabeth Warren as the Senate candidate to face Scott Brown next year. Judging from recent experience they know they've probably got a loser on their hands, especially since Obama's people are trying to portray this out-of-touch Harvard elitist as some sort of middle-class warrior.
Consummate Beltway insider and Obama mastermind David Axelrod yesterday all but crowned Elizabeth Warren the U.S. Senate Democratic nominee nearly a year before Massachusetts voters get to decide for themselves — prompting howls of protest from fellow Senate contenders who told the White House to butt out of Bay State politics.

“This is what’s wrong with Washington,” said City Year co-founder Alan Khazei’s spokesman Scott Ferson. “For hundreds of years, Massachusetts has been publicly electing its state senators and doing a pretty good job.”

Senate hopeful and Somerville activist Bob Massie called Axelrod’s plug of Warren — a Harvard Law professor and former Obama administration official — part of what he characterized as a brazen White House move to bypass local voters.

“We have seen a carefully orchestrated and extremely powerful campaign to draw attention to Warren,” Massie said. “It’s very disappointing when national Democratic leaders choose to foreshorten a democratic process in any state.”
Don't you just love Democrat civil wars? What's most amusing is the Democrats have to defend 23 Senate seats next year and the GOP will probably win a dozen of them. The GOP has very few vulnerable seats, including Brown's, but they'll probably piss it away trying to select, not elect, this nutjob Warren.
Political observers said the Beltway boost could backfire on Elizabeth Warren and alienate Bay State voters, who rocked the political establishment last year when they brushed aside Attorney General Martha Coakley in favor of GOP longshot Scott Brown, embracing his slogan that the seat long-held by the Kennedy clan is actually “the people’s seat.”

“Scott Brown’s last opponent was the hand-picked person, too. She seemed to be the anointed one, and she didn’t win,” said Richard Benedetto, a political communications professor at American University. “It’s classic White House strong-arming, and it doesn’t sit well with voters when someone from Washington comes in and says, ‘This is the woman we want.’ ”

Axelrod’s glowing endorsement also plays into GOP attempts to portray Warren as a candidate who feels entitled to the nomination, said George Serra, a Bridgewater State University political professor.

“That feeling of aloofness and elitism is very much a part of the persona that people perceive in Elizabeth Warren,” Serra said. “She may want to sell herself as a middle class person, but that’s a tough sell.”
Brown is the most popular politician in the state and has widespread middle-class appeal. Facing off against this screeching banshee he may win in a landslide. That's what has the local Democrats justifiably in fear. Warren can't even name a member of the Red Sox, for crying out loud. How can she possibly expect blue-collar types to relate?

Obama non Grata: 'As of Right Now, the Commander-in-Chief is Not Welcome at This Airport'

It's come to this. Even some folks in Massachusetts are tired of the deadbeat Obama.
The president of the United States is persona non grata at Marlboro Airport until he ponies up $676,000 for the damage the airport’s owners claim his armored limo-led convoy caused when his Marine One helicopter touched down on April Fool’s Day 2010.

“As of right now, the commander-in-chief is not welcome at this airport unless we have a written agreement before the fact,” said airport manager and owner Robert Stetson.

Stetson and his wife are principle owners of Marlborough Airport Properties Inc., which filed a federal Unfair and Deceptive Trade lawsuit yesterday against the Secret Service.

The suit claims vehicles with the president’s entourage entered the airfield without permission and caused more than $676,000 in damage to the 1,682-foot runway and grass apron.

Obama was landing in Marlboro to visit the Massachusetts Emergency Management bunker in Framingham after record flooding. The suit acknowledges the helicopter itself did no damage. “It’s pending litigation so we won’t talk about it,” said Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan.

Stetson said he is careful to avoid damage, particularly in early spring when only light aircraft are allowed on the airfield.

“It’s for airplanes, not vehicles,” Stetson said. “I don’t put ground vehicles out there when the frost is coming out of the ground. That runway pavement was floating on a giant mud puddle.”
Good luck collecting.

Obama Subsidizing Hugely Profitable Wind Farm Company

Let's see. We've got a company that turned billions in profits and has billions in net assets. So why on earth are they receiving taxpayer subsidies?

Paging Darrell Issa.
In the name of “green energy,” the Obama administration is using taxpayer money to subsidize a New Hampshire wind farm that is a subsidiary of a hugely profitable company.

New Hampshire’s largest wind farm, the Granite Reliable Power project under construction in Coos County, is jointly owned by BAIF Granite Holdings, LLC and Freshnet Wind Energy, LLC. BAIF owns 75 percent of Granite Reliable. BAIF Granite Holdings was created earlier this year by Brookfield Renewable Power, which is a subsidiary of Brookfield Asset Management of New York.

That company, which runs clean energy operations around the world, has deep pockets. It reported net income of $454 million in 2009 and $3.2 billion in 2010. Brookfield Renewable Power financed the creation of BAIF Granite Holdings from its Brookfield Americas Infrastructure fund, which was reported in February to have $2.7 billion in assets. With that kind of backing, it is curious that the U.S. Department of Energy announced it would guarantee up to 80 percent of a $168.9 million loan for the Granite Reliable wind farm project last week.

Why would a company created by a $3.2 billion company and backed by a $2.7 billion private fund need federal loan guarantees? That would be an important question at any time, but it is more pertinent after the bankruptcy of Solyndra, a solar-panel maker that got a $535 million federal loan guarantee from the Obama administration last year.

Granite Reliable’s wind farm is not proven, and Granite Reliable is a limited liability company, which provides broad investor protection if the company goes down. If the wind farm flops, and investors cut their losses, the taxpayers stand to lose $135 million. What is the justification for risking $135 million in public money, especially on a company with access to so much private cash? Apparently, the justification is that Obama likes “green power” and wants to associate himself with it.

Criminal Charges Expected in Investigation of NC Governor's Campaign Expenses

Maybe North Carolina's Democrat Governor Beverly Perdue should suspend her re-election efforts while her campaign is under criminal investigation.
Last week, Wake County District Attorney Colon Willoughby let it be known that more criminal charges are expected in the investigation of Gov. Beverly Perdue’s campaign finances.

Willoughby’s comments to WRAL-TV confirmed that the investigation into unreported airplane flights by the Perdue campaign is continuing.

But the prosecutor added that he has seen nothing that implicates Perdue.

Willoughby has been reviewing information collected by the State Bureau of Investigation into Perdue campaign finances after an initial investigation by the State Board of Elections found dozens of unreported campaign flights.

The elections board review led to a $30,000 fine against the Perdue campaign. The governor admitted mistakes, but said none were intentional.

Still, a Perdue contributor, Robert Lee Caldwell of Morganton, was indicted in February on obstruction of justice charges. The indictment alleges that Caldwell paid for a plane to fly Perdue to a campaign stop, had someone else report paying for it, and then reimbursed the man with cash.

Again, no evidence shows that Perdue knew anything about it, and Caldwell is one donor out of thousands.

Willoughby’s words, though, mean that the investigation will likely be creeping closer to Perdue. He isn’t providing any hints about who might be charged, but political insiders believe that someone on the inside of the campaign could be the target.

If so, the political damage to Perdue won’t be inconsequential, even if she had no knowledge of events.

No politician can hope to control eager, sycophantic donors, especially when courts increasingly give a green light to all kinds of questionable political giving; controlling your campaign staff is another matter.

The obvious question that arises: What do these events portend for the 2012 election?

Perdue, who has certainly been aware that the campaign flight investigation wasn’t over, has given no indication that she won’t run for a second term.

She’s raising money. She’s been a visible, hands-on, active governor. Even if her poll numbers and public persona aren’t sparkling, she thrives in small gatherings with average folks and jetsetters.
Yes, she thrives by saying really stupid things, even though her media enablers want to pretend she was just joking.

'The President's Scolding is a Pathetic Attempt to Distract Attention From His Own Failures. How Embarrassing'

Remember when candidate Obama thrilled the masses in Germany with some inane drivel back in 2008? Good times, good times. Well, much like the majority of Americans, they now view him as a colossal failure, a bumbling, pathetic arrogant clown.

Some rather harsh words for the petulant man-child:
The mass-circulation Bild writes:

"Obama's lecture on the euro crisis … is overbearing, arrogant and absurd. … In a nutshell, he is claiming that Europe is to blame for the current financial crisis, which is 'scaring the world.' Excuse me?"

"The American president seems to have forgotten a few details. The most important trigger of the financial and economic crisis was US banks and their insane real-estate dealings. The US is still piling up debt … The American congress is crippled by a battle between the right and the left. The banks are gambling just as recklessly as they did before the crisis. The president's scolding is a pathetic attempt to distract attention from his own failures. How embarrassing."
Tell us how you really feel.
The center-left Süddeutsche Zeitung writes:

"One needs to remember the context within which Obama's scolding of the Europeans took place. It was an event where the president was raising money for the Democrats and where he wanted to explain to voters why the US economy is much worse off than he and his economic experts had believed until recently. Hence his criticism of the EU was simple electioneering."
Gee, ya think?

But wait, there's more.
The center-right Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung writes:

"Dark clouds have gathered over the American president. The gloomy state of the economy is putting a dampener on Obama's future prospects. The optimism of the past is gone, replaced by a cheap search for a scapegoat."
Wait, did they say dark clouds? Why, that's raaaaacist!

Another beatdown:
The financial daily Handelsblatt writes:

"The fact that Barack Obama, who is a brilliant thinker, knows full well that things are much more complicated in reality does not help. Indeed, it does the opposite. In the desperate battle for his re-election he'd rather construct myths, such as claiming that the Europeans alone are responsible for the American mess. Not only is this fundamentally wrong, but -- coming as it does from a friend -- it's downright pitiful and sad."
I have to quibble with one point: Who on earth still believes this guy if a brilliant thinker?

'There Is Not a Person on Wall Street, With the Exception of the Genetic Democrats, Who Would Get Anywhere Near Supporting Obama'

Let's see. He's losing blacks, Jews, Latinos and now his fat-cat buddies on Wall Street.

Is there anyone left support this miserable failure in the White House?
JP Morgan honcho Jamie Dimon, once a “fat cat” ally of President Obama, seems to have strayed to Republican contender Mitt Romney.

Dimon, a lifelong Democrat who was rumored to be on Obama’s short list for treasury secretary before he settled on Tim Geithner, met privately with Romney on Tuesday morning before a fund-raiser at Brasserie 8¹/2 hosted by Highbridge Capital, a JPMorgan-owned hedge fund.

Dimon, who was spotted “in a discreet one-on-one” discussion with Romney, cannot publicly endorse a candidate because he sits on the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. But he donated to Democratic candidates in 2008 and privately supported Obama.

While Dimon’s spokesperson declined to comment, a JP Morgan insider tells us that Dimon has not attended an Obama fund-raiser and has not made any contributions to his campaign during this election cycle. And Dimon has met privately with many of the Republican presidential candidates.

Political insiders are buzzing that a defection would signal further Wall Street hostility toward Obama, who famously called them “fat cat” bankers in 2009. Dimon responded, “I don’t think the president of the United States should paint everyone with the same brush.”

One insider said, “There is not a person on Wall Street, with the exception of the genetic Democrats, who would get anywhere near supporting Obama. The hostility to the administration is huge. Dimon will continue to look bipartisan, then work behind the scenes to get a Republican elected.”
This could be a reason why those smelly moonbats have been out on the streets of New York whining about Wall Street and taking their marching orders from Obama's union bosses.

They could be all Obama has left: Filthy, ignorant know-nothings who mindlessly chant slogans and spent most of their time stoned out of their minds.

Speaking of which, some of them are so out of it they don't even recognize a limousine liberal when they see one.
The Wall Street demonstrators might want to brush up on their history: Some didn't recognize protest veteran Susan Sarandon when she showed up to support them Tuesday.

"Who is she?" some of the young agitators asked each other as the Oscar-winning actress gave their cause a little star power.

"I'm just here to be educated," the "Bull Durham" star told reporters and protesters in Zuccotti Park.

Sarandon, 64, stopped by the Occupy Wall Street encampment on her way to catch a flight to Italy and was peppered with questions about climate change and the economy.
How dumb can these people be? What on earth would Sarandon know about the economy of so-called climate change? The parents of these idiots must be so proud.

'There Will Never Be a Close Relationship Between Obama and the Left'

The Hill's White House stenographer Sam Youngman treats us to another delusional piece of Obamaganda today by pretending he's not the most far left occupant ever of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. They want us to believe Obama not an ultra-leftist so they can possibly win back independents, I suppose. What other reason can there be for such a ridiculous assertion?
A note to the professional left, minority groups and other liberal supporters of President Obama: Quit waiting for an apology. It’s not going to happen.

And, Mr. President, they’re not going to apologize to you, either.

Despite the intense outreach Obama is now conducting, there will never be a close relationship between Obama and the left. He will have to continue to look upon George W. Bush’s loyal conservative following with envy.
Uh, Sammy, if you recall how low Bush's approval was toward the end of his term, it wasn't simply because the left hated him. He wasn't exactly popular on the right, either.
And the tour he’s undertaking with liberal and minority groups now — the tough love, the chiding, the bullying — that’s as good as it’s going to get.

Because while the left feels as if it has legitimate grievances with Obama — he’s not a fighter, he caves, the public option, Elizabeth Warren — the president feels like he has legitimate grievances with the left.
There may be legitimate grievances from the left, but that's merely because Obama hasn't completely embraced their Stalinist ideology, at least out in the open, especially since he's be in nonstop campaign mode since he assumed office. If he actually said what he wanted to do his approval would be far lower than the miserable 40% or so it currently is.
Obama wants to be seen as the president of the whole United States. He is not, at least publicly, going to give any one group special attention.
He wants to be seen as president of the whole United States? Really? He sure has a strange way of showing it.

Just ask the folks at Gibson Guitars and Ford, for starters.

Idiot NC Governor: Hey, Forget About That Suspending Elections Thing, It Was Just Hyperbole

Yeah, I guess suggesting suspending elections in a serious tone of voice is just some subtle joke, mere hyperbole. What, you crazy wingsnutz took her seriously?

Let's examine the timeline.
Speaking to a Cary Rotary Club today, N.C. Gov. Bev Perdue suggested suspending Congressional elections for two years so that Congress can focus on economic recovery and not the next election.

"I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won't hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that," Perdue said. "You want people who don't worry about the next election."

The comment -- which came during a discussion of the economy -- perked more than a few ears. It's unclear whether Perdue, a Democrat, is serious -- but her tone was level and she asked others to support her on the idea.
It doesn't appear a anyone did considering we live in America. After the feces hit the rotary oscillator, she backpedaled. Too late, the damage may be irreversible.
Later Tuesday afternoon, Perdue's office clarified the remarks: "Come on," said spokeswoman Chris Mackey in a statement. "Gov. Perdue was obviously using hyperbole to highlight what we can all agree is a serious problem: Washington politicians who focus on their own election instead of what’s best for the people they serve."
What we can all agree....I always notice that mealy-mouthed statement these Democrats make, as if all the people should simply agree with them because they're so wonderful or something.

No, we don't all agree, we never will all agree, although tonight I'm sure many, many of us agree this woman isn't served to fit.
The Republicans sure are taking it seriously as they look to score political points. Here's a statement from GOP spokesman Rob Lockwood:

“Now is a time when politicians need to be held accountable more than ever. To suspend an election would be removing the surest mechanism that people have to hold politicians accountable: the right to vote. Does the Governor not believe that people of North Carolina have the ability to think for themselves about whether or not the actions of elected officials are working?"

Incomes, Spending Fell for Second Straight Year in 2010

The Obama Depression by the numbers.
Consumers earned less and spent less for a second straight year in 2010. The government report released Tuesday offered a deeper look at how Americans have adjusted their spending after the worst recession since the Great Depression.

People spent less last year on food, cut back on entertainment and eating out at restaurants and gave less to charity. At the same time, they paid more for gas and health care -- trends that have continued this year.

Total spending by consumers fell 2 percent last year, according to the Labor Department's annual survey of consumer behavior. It's only the second decrease since the government began the survey in 1984. The first came in 2009.

Incomes declined 0.6 percent in 2010, after a 1.1 percent drop in 2009.

This year, consumer spending and income have increased only modestly. High unemployment, meager pay increases and a spike in gas prices have slowed both.
Of course the numbers of vacations and golf outings for the Obamas surged, so at least not everyone is suffering.

Ford Knuckles Under, Pulls Bailout Ads

Ah, remember the good old old days in America when capitalism was king and freedom of speech reigned?

Good times, good times.

Well, those days are over, at least for now.
As part of a campaign featuring "real people" explaining their decision to buy the Blue Oval, a guy named "Chris" says he "wasn't going to buy another car that was bailed out by our government," according the text of the ad, launched in early September.

"I was going to buy from a manufacturer that's standing on their own: win, lose, or draw. That's what America is about is taking the chance to succeed and understanding when you fail that you gotta' pick yourself up and go back to work."

That's what some of America is about, evidently. Because Ford pulled the ad after individuals inside the White House questioned whether the copy was publicly denigrating the controversial bailout policy CEO Alan Mulally repeatedly supported in the dark days of late 2008, in early '09 and again when the ad flap arose. And more.

With President Barack Obama tuning his re-election campaign amid dismal economic conditions and simmering antipathy toward his stimulus spending and associated bailouts, the Ford ad carried the makings of a political liability when Team Obama can least afford yet another one. Can't have that.
Nope, can't have that, we've got to prop up this miserable failure and make believe he's competent. We've sunk to the level now where planted multimillionaire donors get to ask questions of him at staged townhall events. Communist dictators of days gone by never got such favorable, slobbering treatment in the media.

We've got a thug in the White House stonewalling two massive scandals between Fast and Furious and Solyndra, yet those stories are barely a blip on the mainstream media radar. Bad news is no news according to them. As such, expect them to conveniently ignore this outrageous behavior.

It's One of Those 57 States

The best and brightest at work here. Amazingly, the super genius in the White House never noticed this gaffe.
Looks like someone in the White House press office needs to brush up on their U.S. geography.

The press office issued credentials to those reporters and photojournalists who are covering the president’s trip this week to Washington state, California, and Colorado. The credential even provides a handy graphic highlighting (in white) which states the president will visit.

The only problem?

Wyoming is highlighted, not Colorado.
Oops.

CNN isn't much better. They claim Wyoming and Colorado are "stacked next to each other" for some reason.

Speaking of geography, why did Obama skip Oregon?

Heartache: Obama Rejected by MTV

Can it get any lower for the failed president? Even the lefty moonbats at MTV are tuning him out.
President Obama’s re-election campaign wants to connect with young Americans and reached out recently to MTV for help -- but the cable network turned them down, sources tell The Post.

The president’s Get Out the Vote campaign, run by Buffy Wicks, concerned the high unemployment rate of the so-called millennial generation would turn them off to their candidate, asked the network of “Jersey Shore” about helping to supply them with ideas on how to deal with their, er, situation.

The campaign called MTV’s internal ad agency, MTV Scratch, for assistance in mid-August, sources familiar with the conversations said.

MTV Scratch, run by Ross Martin, former MTVU boss, and Anne Hubert, who was a policy adviser to Jon Corzine when he was a US senator from New Jersey, works across all the MTV Networks and helps marketers such as General Motors and Dr. Pepper understand the mind-set of young people.

The re-election effort wants to reconnect with youth, which were among its most fervent supporters in 2008.

“The youth initiative is having trouble with big donors and youth votes,” said a person familiar with the discussions. “They asked, ‘Can you tell us how we should be talking to them?’ ” one source noted.

Christie Approval Surges, Up 10 Points Since May

With all the speculation of late whether New Jersey Governor Chris Christie may be running for president, his approval here in the state has risen sharply.
Gov. Chris Christie's approval rating has increased dramatically since he signed the pension and health benefit overhaul for public workers and publicly led the state through Hurricane Irene.

A Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind poll released this morning shows 54 percent of New Jersey voters approve of Christie's performance, while 36 percent disapprove. That's up from a 44 percent even split in May.

The number is the highest approval rating Christie has gotten in a Fairleigh Dickinson poll, although his disapproval ratings were lower early in his term, when many many voters had not formed an opinion.

"The spring budget battles at every level - municipal, county, and state - hurt the governor," said poll director Peter Woolley. "But he got a big win on pension and benefits reform in June, and weathered Hurricane Irene in August.

Eighteen percent of voters rated Christie's job performance excellent, 28 percent good, 29 percent "only fair" and 24 percent poor.

The favorable poll numbers come just as speculation that Christie will run for president reaches a fever pitch, despite his repeated denials that he's interested. The governor has a speech scheduled tonight at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.
I'm of the mind running in 2012 would not be worth it. He still has yet to even serve two years as governor and I do recall one of the negatives on Obama back in 2008 was he had little experience. Let us enjoy him for a full term and perhaps a second one. I don't see anyone on the horizon on the Democrat side who could beat him right now, although two years is a lifetime in politics.

His nemesis from the Star Ledger, Tom Moran, thinks he should run, although he seems to be a bit tongue-in-cheek. Moran, after all, was the guy Christie hammered in that famous viral video from last year.

'Like the Tea Party, the Origins of Occupy Wall Street Are a Bit Murky'

Is this what passes for reporting from NBC News? For over a week now a screeching group of human debris has been bellowing and whining in lower Manhattan. Nobody's quite sure what they're protesting other than their own miserable existence. But to read this story you'd be led to believe they're some legitimate political movement.
It’s messy. It’s disorganized. At times, the message is all but incoherent.

All of which makes Occupy Wall Street, the loosely organized protest in lower Manhattan now in its second week, a lot like the rest of the current American political discourse.

"It's democracy - real democracy," said Micah Chamberlain, 23, from Columbus, Ohio, who sat behind a makeshift table where organizers maintain a schedule of daily events. “It’s slow and it's tedious and it's complicated, but everyone has a voice. No one’s voice gets marginalized.”

The organizing theme, such as it is, centers on the influence of large corporations in shaping government policy. Many here blame the paralysis in Washington on a campaign finance system run amok. In that sense, the Occupy Wall Street movement seeks to “take back the country” no less than its Tea Party counterparts on the other end of the political spectrum. The two movements (if that's what this is) also share a common sense of despair and disgust with the two-party system now gearing up for another election cycle.

Like the Tea Party, the origins of Occupy Wall Street are a bit murky. The idea for the protest apparently originated with a Vancouver-based magazine called Adbusters, which in a July 13 blog post called on a handful of unaffiliated groups to “flood into lower Manhattan, set up tents, kitchens, peaceful barricades and occupy Wall Street for a few months.” The purpose of the protest, according to the post, is to end “the influence money has over our representatives in Washington.”
What's murky about the origins of the Tea Party. It stands for "Taxed Enough Already" and if the media did their jobs they would clearly know the movement stemmed from resistance to the outrageous levels of government spending, especially the original stimulus in February 2009.

Comparing these lawless and sometimes violent anarchists to the peaceful, well-organized tea partiers around the country is a disgrace. When have we seen tea partiers blocking traffic, getting into fights with police and sleeping on the streets?
By Monday morning, the protester's weekend reinforcements were back at work and the ranks of hard core park occupiers had thinned. As the stock market opened, a parade of protesters, corralled by cops on motorcycles, wound through the barricade maze up Wall Street, waving signs, shouting slogans, blowing horns, banging drums and tambourines while tourists snapped pictures of loved-ones posing in front of the throng.
How often do we see tea partiers banging drums and blowing horns? Answer: We never do. So why on earth is this motley band of far-left kooks being compared with them?

The rest of the story is a total puff piece. Funny, but I don't recall seeing the nascent Tea Party movement receiving such favorable coverage back when it started. Nope, from day one they were portrayed as a bunch of raucous and angry racists, and it persists to this day. Yet now we see a sometimes violent angry mob being portrayed as peaceful.

You can't make this stuff up.

Huntsman Campaign Receives Official Kiss of Death

About the only thing worse would be for Obama to endorse him.

Decrepit Hippies Protest Rumsfeld in Boston

What a pathetic collection of human beings.
Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld got a rude welcome in Boston Monday night as he promoted his new book.

Several protesters tried to disrupt a forum with Rumsfeld at the Old South Meeting House, shouting and holding up signs as most of the audience shouted and booed them down.

"I went down in front and looked Donald Rumsfeld in the eye and said, 'I'm making a citizen's arrest,' said protester Nate Goldschlag, a member of the group Veterans for Peace, who had to buy Rumsfeld's book to get into the event.

"He lied us into Iraq. He lied about weapons of mass destruction. He lied about Saddam Hussein being involved in 9/11," Goldschlag said.

Four demonstrators were dragged out of the hall by police and one person was arrested outside the building for assaulting an officer with a bullhorn, police said.
Why are these liberals so violent?

Video at the link. The protesters looks exactly like what you'd expect.

LA Times Pretends Obama's Still Popular in California

So Obama was in California the past couple of days fielding questions from planted audience members (one call himself a "patriotic millionaire") and the reporter for the Los Angeles Times apparently feels he's part of Obama's re-election campaign.
Looking out at the crowd Monday, Obama called on a retired Google employee, Doug Edwards, who said, "My question is, would you please raise my taxes?"

The audience applauded.

The question was the ultimate softball for Obama, a chance to lay out his case for raising taxes on affluent Americans. His aim is to cut the deficit but preserve funding for college scholarships, research, public works and other projects.
Indeed, staged questions can be considered softballs. And so is "reporting" like this:
The president, who remains popular in California despite his national slump, urged the crowd to press members of Congress to approve not only higher taxes on the wealthy but also new spending on roads and bridges and the rest of his economic agenda. The nation, he said, cannot "just cut our way out of this problem."

"We're laying off teachers in droves right here in California," he said. "It doesn't make any sense. It's unfair to our kids."
Um, so we have a state run entirely by Democrats and he points out how "unfair" it is to lay off teachers. So we ask, how is this the fault of anyone other than Obama and the Democrats?

Curious to note how according to the reporter "remains popular in California". Well, that's interesting considering the most recent poll showed his approval rating plummeting in the state.
For the first time since Obama became president in January 2009, fewer than half (46 percent) of California voters approve of his performance as president - a figure that's dropped eight percentage points in three months, according to a Field Poll survey of attitudes toward Obama released today.

Geithner: You Know, Pissing Away $200K Per Job Is a Great Idea

I've got an idea. Let's just cut a check to the millions out of work thanks to Obama and this idiot's masterful stewardship of the economy and call it a day.

Believe it or not, that wasn't the dumbest video clip you'll see today. This is.

In an amazing coincidence, that tool just so happens to be a very wealthy Obama donor.

Carville: Tea Party a 'Dangerous Political Force That Threatens the Very Future of Our Country'

Yesterday the Fundraiser-in-Chief claimed the GOP would cripple the country while he was busy raising money from millionaires and billionaires. Today we get our daily does of Democrat hysteria in an email via the absurd James Carville.
There’s something in their tea.

That’s the only explanation I can think of to explain the bizarre babblings of Tea Party Republicans.

And the rants of these global-warming-denying, Social-Security-cutting, clean-air-hating, job-cutting, Wall-Street-protecting tea party types would be funny if it weren’t for one thing:

Money. Lots of it.

Backed by millions of dollars raised by Karl Rove and the Koch brothers, what would pass for a cheap side show at a flea-bitten circus has become a dangerous political force that threatens the very future of our country.

That’s why I’m asking you to drop whatever you’re doing right now and support Democrats’ $1 Million Rapid Response Action Fund before the big FEC deadline hits.

Contribute $3 or more before Friday's critical FEC fundraising deadline hits and help Democrats stand up to the Tea Party Republicans and take back the House Majority in 2012. House Democrats will triple match your gift!

This FEC deadline is a huge milestone in the House Democrats' 2012 campaign plan. Hitting this $1 million goal is absolutely critical to their plans to take the fight to Tea Party Republicans and counter the massive funding provided by Rove and his billionaire buddies.

The amount of money Democrats raise will also be interpreted by the Washington media as an indication of the strength of grassroots Democrats and whether we can mount a serious campaign against Tea Party Republicans. We’ve got to have a strong showing.

Contribute $3 or more before Friday's critical FEC fundraising deadline and help Democrats stand up to the Tea Party Republicans and take back the House Majority in 2012.

Don’t leave this email without joining House Democrats in this fight.

Every dollar you give goes right back out the door to help take the fight right to Tea Party Republicans on their home turf with targeted advertising, grassroots organizing, and rapid response research.
These were the same hysterical emails we saw repeatedly leading up to the humiliating defeat in NY-9 a couple of weeks ago.

Funny, but I thought the Tea Party was dead as a political movement? The media tells us that all the time. So why are hysterical emails coming out from the DCCC every day still demonizing them in an effort to raise money?

Solyndra and Democrats: Perfect Together

Um, so how did this scheme come to be?
Out of the hundreds of out-of-work employees, vendors, investors and other creditors in the bankruptcy of government-backed solar-panel maker Solyndra LLC, one name stands out: the California Democratic Party.

Why California Democrats would be creditor to a company that received more than a half-billion dollars in federal loans to build a solar-panel plant isn’t clear. Even party officials say they’re not sure.

The California Democratic Party’s communications director, Tenoch Flores, said the organization was not owed “any funds in any form” by the California-based company. He said he was unclear why the party would be listed as a creditor in Solyndra’s bankruptcy filing.

According to campaign-finance records, Solyndra donated $7,500 to the California Democratic Party in October 2010. It’s legal in California for corporations to make donations. But that doesn’t explain why the company would identify the Democratic Party as a creditor in its bankruptcy filing a year later.
I'm surprised Obama isn't personally listed as a creditor.
The Washington Times reported last week that law firms that took credit for helping to push through the federal loan package were paid millions of dollars reported through the federal Recovery Act.

The same month Solyndra donated to the California Democrats, the company also contributed $1,000 each to three California state Assembly candidates, according to data from the National Institute on Money in State Politics. But none of these Democratic candidates appears as a creditor in the bankruptcy filing.

The state Democratic organization was identified in a document called a “creditor matrix.” It’s a standard filing in bankruptcy cases, where the debtor provides an alphabetical list of the names and addresses of all creditors. In the Solyndra case, the list runs more than 100 pages.

In an affidavit along with the court filing, the company’s chief executive, W.G. Stover Jr., swore under penalty of perjury that that creditor list was true and accurate to the best of his knowledge and that the information came from a review of the company’s books and records.

Beyond being listed as a creditor, the state Democratic Party’s ties to Solyndra aren’t clear, but a fuller picture could emerge as the bankruptcy case unfolds. What is clear, based on public records, is that despite its well-known business failings, Solyndra was no novice when it came to politics.
Must be Bush's fault.

'I Don’t Know Who He Was Talking To, Because We’re Certainly Not Complaining'

Does anyone play dumb better than Maxine Waters? It's a role that comes quite naturally.
“I don’t know who he was talking to, because we’re certainly not complaining,” said Waters, who has been critical of Obama in the past. “We are working. We support him and we are protecting that base because we want people to be enthusiastic about him when that election rolls around.”

Obama told the audience at the annual gala to “take off your bedroom slippers, put on your marching shoes. Shake it off. Stop complaining, stop grumbling, stop crying. We are going to press on. We’ve got work to do, CBC.”

Waters said she found some of the language Obama used “not appropriate” and said it “surprised me a little bit.”
But remember, she never complains.

Raaaaacist! Castro Calls Obama's UN Speech 'Gibberish'

How bad are things going for this failed president? He's being openly ridiculed by Communist psychopath Fidel Castro. Michael Moore must be very confused today.
Former Cuban leader Fidel Castro accused President Barack Obama of speaking "gibberish" in his recent address to the United Nations and called NATO's actions in Libya a "monstrous crime" on Monday in his first opinion column since early July.

Castro, 85, has been mostly out of sight the past few months, which combined with the absence of his usual steady flow of columns, had prompted rumors his health was worsening.

He wrote he was involved in work that occupied all his time and therefore he had not been writing what he calls his "reflections." But he said he wanted to comment on the U.N. General Assembly in New York and in particular Obama's speech last week.

The reflection was published on Cuban government website www.cubadebate.cu.

Castro was his vintage self in his latest piece, blasting Obama and the United States, his ideological foes and favorite rhetorical targets, for what he views as bellicose and hypocritical behavior. He called Obama the "yankee president."

Castro, who led Cuba for 49 years before health and age forced him to cede power to younger brother Raul Castro in 2008, quoted extensively from Obama's General Assembly speech, inserting paragraphs of his opinions of the U.S. leader's words.

"In spite of the shameful monopoly of the mass information media and the fascist methods of the United States and its allies to confuse and deceive world opinion, the resistance of the people grows, and that can be appreciated in the debates being produced in the United Nations," he wrote.

Castro called into question many points in Obama's speech, accusing him of misrepresenting the situations in Iraq and Afghanistan, U.S. policy on Israel and Palestine and the uprisings this year in several Arab nations.

"Who understands this gibberish of the President of the United States in front of the General Assembly?" he asked.
If he thinks that speech was gibberish, he should see the gaffe-tastic idiocy of Obama on display at his lavish fundraisers.

'What Happened? Republicans Used to Like Roads'

What happened, he asks? Why don't we like road? Because potholes are cool, man!

Seriously, this is how insipid Barack Obama has become. Because Republicans won't give him a blank check, they supposedly don't like roads now? Is he really that stupid?
"Back then (2008) we started this campaign not because we thought it would be a cakewalk. After all you supported a candidate named Barack Hussein Obama . . . I need you guys to shake off any doldrums. I need you to decide right here and right now, talk to your friends and neighbors and coworkers and tell them, 'You know what? We're not finished yet."

What doldrums? Unemployment nationally is at 9.1 percent, up from when Obama took office; underemployment is perhaps 17 percent. The jobless rate among African Americans has climbed from 11.5 percent to 15.6 percent. Unemployment in Washington and Oregon, states that went ga-ga for Obama in 2008, is up -- especially in Oregon.

A majority, more than 60 percent of Americans, feel their nation is on the "wrong track." Of course, Congress' approval rate stands at 13 percent -- but polls show blame for the doldrums is shifting from George W. Bush to Barack Obama.

Obama is right to blame Republican resistance for America's dysfunctional government. The "loyal opposition" has made clear it is willing to prolong the doldrums, if not wreck the entire economy, to make him a one-term president.

Ideological pushback, manufactured confrontations, are the order of the day. Congress is currently at an impasse over disaster relief, threating a government shutdown. House Republicans want to cut job-creating clean energy programs in order to fund the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Obama introduced an American Jobs Bill that would pour resources into fixing schools and repairing the country's crumbling infrastructure. The GOP is vowing to block key provisions.

"What happened? Republicans used to like roads," Obama said at the Paramount. (He's sure right about that.) "Some think they don't like roads because Democrats are proposing it."

Some of the doldrums, however, can be laid at Obama's doorstep.
Gee, ya think?

Speaking of doldrums, five foot jocksniffer Mikey Lupica embarrasses himself again.
Now, on a morning nearly three years later, it is quiet on Hyde Park Blvd., a Secret Service van parked in front of the house and Secret Service signs posted around the neighborhood, and metal barriers making sidewalks disappear. This happens to be around the corner from the home of Bill Ayers, the guy that idiots on the right tried to make into some kind of terrorist, and maybe two blocks from where Louis Farrakhan lives.
Um, Mikey: Ayers made himself into a terrorist, and he's proud of his past. Look it up.

Meanwhile, Obama took some time out of his grueling fundraising schedule to mock the wildfires in Texas. Yes, really.
At an event in Woodside, Calif., Obama took a direct shot at one of his potential GOP opponents, Texas Gov. Rick Perry. Without mentioning him by name Obama mocked Perry as "a governor whose state is on fire, denying climate change."

Perry spokesman Ray Sullivan responded, "It's outrageous President Obama would use the burning of 1,500 homes, the worst fires in state history, as a political attack."
