The hills overlooking the capital boomed with cannon bursts heralding his arrival. Thousands of people gathered in the downtown square on a brilliantly sunny day to see Mr Bush and first lady Laura Bush.No kidding.
Huge banners proclaimed "Proud to be Partners", and billboards read "President Bush in Albania Making History". Red-white-and-blue paper top hats with stars on top were passed out to well-wishers in this Balkan nation. "Bush is the president of the world. He is like a king to me," said 18-year-old student Arian Geka.
"Support in some countries is higher than in others," remarked US national security spokesman Gordon Johndroe.
