Anti-War Flick Bombs at Box Office

Anti-war propaganda film Lions for Lambs tanked badly in theaters over the weekend, pulling in a pathetic $6.7 million in 2,215 theaters nationwide, an average of $3,029 per theater.
"Lions for Lambs," the first feature released by United Artists since it's been under Cruise control, also debuted this weekend with $6.7 million.

Tom Cruise stars in the war-on-terror drama along with Meryl Streep and Robert Redford.

"The war is officially over at the box office," said Bock. "The [war] genre is really tired right now."

This is the first time in 15 years that a movie starring Cruise has not opened at No. 1.
It's true: We're officially tired of Hollywood blowhards lecturing us on foreign policy.

UPDATE: Tim Graham at NewBusters notes Streep and fellow useful idiot George C. Looney compare rightwingers to Nazis and Salem with burners in a Rolling Stone interview.

How original.
