Memorial service for SGT Matt Maupin

The memorial service for the soldier who was kidnapped in Iraq back in 2004, SGT Matt Maupin was held today in his hometown of Peoria, IL.

The AP certainly needs to hire some fact checkers or at least somebody with military experience so they can get even the simplest of press releases right. I no longer expect them to report on anything good concerning our actions in Iraq.
PEORIA, Ill. — Hundreds gathered in a Peoria, Ill., cemetery to remember an Ohio soldier whose remains were found in northwest Baghdad last month, nearly four years after he was missing and reportedly captured.

Staff Sergeant Keith Maupin was part of the Bartonville, Illinois-based 724th Transportation Company.

He is a SGT not a SSG, Staff Sergeant.
