Tax Cheat Rangel Finally Gets Around to Hiring 'Experts' To Sort Through His Mess

He promised to do this months ago, but now looks forward to a rapid resolution of his criminal behavior. Any more rapid and he'd be moving backwards.
Embattled Rep. Charles Rangel yesterday announced he had made good on a promise to hire experts to comb through two decades of tax returns to see how much he failed to pay Uncle Sam.

The powerful Harlem Democrat said he had hired the accounting firm of Watkins, Meegan, Drury and Co. to investigate his financial records and report its findings to the House ethics panel probing him.

Rangel "is providing all information needed by the committee to reach its conclusions, and looks forward to a rapid resolution of this matter," he said in a press release.

The chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, which crafts tax laws, Rangel is being probed for failing to pay taxes and disclose income for a vacation home in the Dominican Republic.
If he were a Republican, he'd long ago have been drummed out of office. And if he weren't a high ranking Democrat he's be in prison.

Nothing like being above the law.
