Looks like Nancy Pelosi is beginning to have some regrets for the insane rhetoric of Florida Democrat Alan "Dick" Grayson. After Grayson's outrageous outbursts of the past several days (see here, here and here), it seems the Queen Bee of the House is feeling the heat.
Naturally, she brings up Joe Wilson.
Sorry, honey, that dog won't hunt.
Pelosi was asked on Thursday about Rep. Alan Grayson, a Florida Democrat who is refusing to apologize for accusing Republicans in a floor speech of believing sick Americans should "die quickly."Uh, Nancy, Wilson did apologize, several times, in fact, and was admonished by your party, in case you haven't forgotten.
The Democratic-dominated House recently voted to reprimand Republican Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina, who shouted "You lie!" at President Barack Obama during his speech. Pelosi said that if anybody is going to apologize, everybody should, and heated rhetoric shouldn't get in the way of the complex job of overhauling the health care system.
Now it's up to you and the Democrats to do the same to Grayson, otherwise your statement is meaningless.
One man rightly pointing out Obama was lying is a far cry from claiming Republicans want old people to die and then comparing some lacking health insurance to the Holocaust.
We'll be waiting for the House condemnation of Grayson. Seems it won't be coming.
"We have to have a debate that is not distracted from... Apparently Republicans are holding Democrats to a higher level than they are holding their own members," she said, referring to floor comments by some Republicans who have said Democratic health care reforms would lead to higher deaths among seniors.Republicans urged Wilson to apologize and he did. Yes, they do hold their own to a different standard.
"There's no more reason for Mr. Grayson to apologize... If anybody’s going to apologize everybody should apologize," Pelosi said at her weekly press conference.
The Democrats, it appears, have a much different standard. They're allowed to insult anyone with impunity and never face any consequences. Well, Grayson will be held accountable next November.
