Naturally they apologize in case anyone is offended. That's what they always say.
A Canadian lawmaker is apologizing for using an image of the burning Twin Towers on a pamphlet to promote a pig roast.Well, I hope you feel horrible.
The Saskatchewan Party sent out the flyer to advertize it's annual pig roast fund-raiser, which will feature a firefigher who was pulled from the rubble as the guest speaker.
"The FDNY hopes that no one ever forgets what happened on September 11th," said FDNY spokesman Frank Dwyer. "However, we do think that the use of images of the attacks for political or monetary gain, like the image on this poster, is in bad taste."
Canada's New Democrat Party member Sandra Morin agreed it's wrong to profit politically from the Sept. 11 attacks.
"To use a graphic image of the burning twin towers - in which thousands of people tragically died - to raise political dollars, is both shocking for its lack of respect and disturbing for its lack of judgment," Morin said in a statement.
Saskatchewan Party member Nancy Heppner said she approved the flyer - and didn't think it would be considered offensive.
"We feel badly if anybody has been offended by this," Heppner, who is also the province's environmental minister, told reporters. "It was never our intention. It was one of the most tragic days in our collective history, not just for the U.S. but for Canada, and it would make me feel horrible if people were offended by this."
In case anyone's wondering, it says here they're a center-right party.
