Oh No! Constitutional Scholars From Cypress Hill Cancel Arizona Concert

Seems kind of self-defeating if you ask me. Wouldn't it make more sense to show up, get the payday for your show and imbue the crowd with your, ahem, knowledge of the law? After all, it stands to reason some of the folks working the venue just might be those illegals you're supposedly trying to help, no?
Cypress Hill and Pitbull have canceled their respective gigs in Arizona in protest of SB 1070.

On Monday, the band posted this message on their website:

“In a show of resistance to the criminalization of immigrant communities and in opposition to SB1070, recently signed into Arizona legislation, Cypress Hill has elected to cancel a performance scheduled in Tucson for May 21, 2010. This decision was made in an effort to show support and solidarity with those, undocumented and otherwise, being directly affected by this unconstitutional "law." Cypress Hill recognizes those living in the struggle for their basic civil rights. Rise Up!”
Of course the law was written to withstand any constitutional challenges, but why listen to legal experts when we can have some washed-up stoners tell us otherwise? Heck, if the U.S. Attorney General hasn't bothered to spend 10 minutes reading the law, why should we expect some washed-up non-entities to do the same?

Not only is Cypress Hill canceling, something called Pitbull is also weighing in with his, um, expertise.
Pitbull is also taking a stand. In a tweet from Taipei, the artist said he's canceling his concert in Phoenix on May 31. "How is the country we enjoy and love bcuz of its human rights, freedom, opportunity and that has been built by immigrants, now start 2 deny them," he added. "It is contradicting 2 everything the USA stands 4.”
Thanx 4 clearing that up, Pitbull.

In case you have no idea who Cypress Hill is, here's their most popular hit from about 17 years ago, mostly made popular by Beavis & Butthead reruns. I'd say the average IQ of Arizonans will increase in their absence. And it's one less possible pot bust for Sheriff Joe.

Some folks might be getting weak in the knees, but I'm of the mind since an overwhelming majority of Americans support the law, any supposed backlash will disappear quickly, especially if the law-abiding of you out there make it a point to visit Arizona if you can.
