Merry Christmas From Abu Dhabi

In what can only serve as further proof of the war on Christmas the folks of the muslim country of Abu Dhabi have stuck a big finger in the eyes of anti Christmas forces in this country.

The $11 million symbol of the season has become the latest extravagance at the Emirates Palace hotel, which boasts its own marina, heliport and a vending machine that pops out small gold bars.

The hotel's general manager, Hans Olbertz, was quoted in local newspapers Thursday as saying the 43-foot (13-meter) faux fir has 131 ornaments that include gold and precious stones such as diamonds and sapphires.

So while we have uneducated school administrators in this country wanting Muslim symbols added to Christmas trees, apparently the Muslim world doesn't harbor such goofy notions.

How long will it be before we have to go to the Middle East to celebrate Christmas to escape all of the HannaKwnazaaFestiHoliday madness in this country?

A Christmas Miracle Story

"His life began in my hands," Hermanstorfer said. "That's a feeling like none other. Life actually began in the palm of my hands."

On Christmas Eve, a woman who was in labor and in the process of giving birth suddenly stopped breathing and her heart stopped. The doctors did an emergency C-section, but the child was born lifeless. The doctors and God however were not willing to give up just yet.

Inexplicably, after several minutes both the mother and child sprung to life.

"She literally stopped breathing and her heart stopped," her husband said. Pandemonium erupted as doctors and nurses tried to revive her with chest compressions and a breathing tube, but nothing worked.

"I was holding her hand when we realized she was gone," Hermanstorfer said. "My entire life just rolled out."

Doctors told him, "We're going to take your son out now. We have been unable to revive her and we're going to take your son out," he recalled.

After the Cesarean section, some of the team rushed his wife to the operating room while the others attended to Coltyn.

"They hand him to me, he's absolutely lifeless," Hermanstorfer said. The doctors went to work on Coltyn as Hermanstorfer held him, and soon he began to breath.

Both mother and son are doing fine.

Today, when good news seems to be as rare a commodity as gold on the moon, sometimes we need a little good news.

Michelle Obama Holiday Greetings

Christmas is a time to recommit ourselves to the causes we believe in. So saith Michelle Obama in her video highlighting the Christmas tree and the White House decorations.

Do they use the word Christmas to describe the trees? There is a nice close up of an ornament with the word peace, talk of how they recycled some old ornaments, and a lot of time spent talking about how many visitors they have.

One last question. Why is the British flag on the Obama Hawaii ornament?



BTW the Obama's plan on spending Christmas in Hawaii. Guess he doesn't want to be in town when the Democrat Senate passes that healthcare bill which is nothing more then a giant lump of coal in America's stocking.

City of White Plains Mayor Joseph M. Delfino invites everyone to celebrate the holiday season at and our “City Lights Bright Holiday Nights Community Tree Lighting”.

Good grief. A community tree?

Elsewhere in New York, there will be another holiday tree lighting.

Frank and Marie Riberdy of Waterford plan to be in the crowd on Sunday and will proudly watch when the holiday trees are lighted at the Empire State Plaza and East Capitol Park.

The story doesn't even contain the word Christmas. Heaven forbid.

Meanwhile, the kooks in Seattle are engaging in their usual holiday lunacy.

So nice of the left to bring us all together at holiday time.

NY Times Laments Rise in Christmas Sales

Leave it to the sourpusses at the New York Times to cast a negative spin on Christmas sales that rose 3.6%.

American consumers, uneasy about the economy and unimpressed by the merchandise in stores, delivered the bleak holiday shopping season retailers had expected, if not feared, according to one early but influential projection.

Spending between Thanksgiving and Christmas rose just 3.6 percent over last year, the weakest performance in at least four years, according to MasterCard Advisors, a division of the credit card company. By comparison, sales grew 6.6 percent in 2006, and 8 percent in 2005.

“There was not a recipe for a pick up in sales growth,” said Michael McNamara, vice president of research and analysis at MasterCard Advisors, citing higher gas prices, a slowing housing market and a tight credit market.

Granted, the numbers weren't as high as previous year, but how exactly is a 3.6% increase bleak?

Meanwhile, they note a huge increase in online sales.

MasterCard found that online spending rose 22.4 percent, a healthy, if not robust, showing, given fears that Web purchases would slow after a decade of impressive growth.

Clothing sales rose a meager 1.4 percent, but there was a stark split between genders. Sales for women’s apparel dropped 2.4 percent. Sales for men’s apparel rose 2.3 percent. Analysts said women complained of dreary fashions.

So perhaps since people were unimpressed by merchandise and women didn't like the current fashions, maybe that may explain why it was such a bleak showing?

Another factor could be the nonstop reportage from the New York Times on how bad the economy allegedly is.

Celebrating Christmas in Baghdad

Another little something to piss off the sniveling left for Christmas.

No thanks to them, Christians are flocking back to Baghdad.

IRAQI Christians who fled a district of Baghdad that declared itself an al-Qaeda caliphate have returned home to celebrate their first Christmas in two years.

Known as the "Vatican of Iraq", the small but long-established Christian enclave in the mainly Sunni district of Doura suffered constant terror at the hands of al-Qaeda gunmen who tried to impose a Taliban-style rule.

Churches were car-bombed, women were threatened for not wearing Islamic headscarves, and families had to pay off local mosques to keep them safe from kidnap gangs.

But now al-Qaeda has been rooted out of Doura and the hundreds of Christian families who left the area are returning.

On Christmas Day they will congregate in the battle-scarred St Mary's Church, where part of the crucifix on its tower is still missing after being shot at.

"We closed the church two years ago because of all the trouble," said the priest, Father Younadim Shamoon, 45, who has decorated its bullet-cratered walls with modest fairy lights.

"But many people are coming back after word got around that the local Muslim people were welcoming us again. We thank God and hope that we can live together again as brothers."

He is right. If you are looking for a manager vote for somebody else. Fred reminds me of the guy in the commercial standing in front of a bunch of coworkers, all involved in a project and as he goes around the table he asks each one things like "Can you continue to NOT live up to your resume? and Can you crumble under pressure? or Will you continue to waffle?
Leadership is what is needed. Not somebody who isn't a park of the pack, but somebody who can lead the pack. Too many politicians on both sides seem to want to stay in the pack but it takes courage and a certain amount of attitude to be the leader.

The best line from an Iowan.

"You can't trust what you get from the media," Scott said, as I furiously took notes. "So we researched it."

Maybe, just maybe there is still hope.

Sure, this will go over well. A nice poke in the eye from a Labour Scrooge to get things started:

Yes, maybe you ought to harken back to Churchill and figure out how to save a nation. Problem is, it may be too late.

Christmas should be downgraded in favour of festivals from other religions to improve race relations, says an explosive report.

Labour's favourite think-tank says that because it would be hard to 'expunge' Christmas from the national calendar, 'even-handedness' means public organisations must start giving other religions equal footing.

The leaked findings of its investigation into identity, citizenship and community cohesion also propose:

• 'Birth ceremonies', at which state and parents agree to 'work in partnership' to bring up children

• Action to 'ensure access' for ethnic minorities to 'largely white' countryside

• An overhaul of Britain's 'imperial' honours system

• Bishops being thrown out of the House of Lords

• An end to 'sectarian' religious education

• Flying flags other than the Union Jack.
