A Democratic source says House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey will not seek re-election.

The Wisconsin Democrat was first elected to his Wisconsin seat in 1969 and easily won his 20th full term in 2008 with 61 percent of the vote.

Obey's decision came as a surprise. He faced a potentially difficult re-election bid this fall. He scheduled an official announcement for Wednesday afternoon.

C'mon Dave, man up. Don't you have the guts to face a tough battle?

Dimwit Democrat: Terrorists "Running out of People to Kill"

Democrats are becoming increasingly bizarre in trying to rationalize why we're having so much recent success in Iraq.

Wisconsin's David Obey has completely crossed over from willful denial of reality to sheer insanity.

If violence is decreasing in Iraq, it may be because insurgents “are running out of people to kill,” House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey (D-Wis.) said Monday.

“There are fewer targets of opportunity,” Obey said in a speech to the National Press Club.

Obey was responding to a question about reports touted by Republicans that security is improving in Iraq and that President Bush’s “surge” strategy is working. He stressed that military success has not led to political reconciliation.

I guess it hasn't occured to this idiot we're taking out the bad guys wherever they may be.

In his speech Monday, he stuck by his pledge not to approve any more money for the war until President Bush changes course on Iraq. He also offered a spirited defense of a new surtax to pay for the Iraq war, admitting that he knew it wouldn’t pass when he offered his support for the plan.

Is he even aware what's going on in Iraq and that we changed course already this year?

Reid Looking to Hasten Surrender

The gutless puke Harry Reid will not retreat from widespread condemnation over his declaration of defeat last week, and is compounding the error by seeking to accelerate the terms of surrender.

Defying a fresh veto threat, the Democratic-controlled Congress will pass legislation within days requiring the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq beginning Oct. 1, with a goal of completing the pullout six months later, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Monday.

Reid said the legislation "immediately transitions the U.S. military away from policing a civil war." He said that troops that remain in Iraq after next April 1 could only train Iraqi security units, protect U.S forces and conduct "targeted counter-terror operations."

The Nevada Democrat outlined the elements of the legislation in a speech a few hours after Bush said he will reject any legislation along the lines of what Democrats intend to pass. "I will strongly reject an artificial timetable (for) withdrawal and/or Washington politicians trying to tell those who wear the uniform how to do their job," the president said.

Bush made his comments to reporters in the Oval Office as he met with senior military leaders, including his top commander in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus.

Of course, the Democrats have no idea what's going on, since they're skipping briefings.

Meanwhile, the Democrats are trying to limit coverage of their surrender announcement. I wonder why?
