Obama Humiliated: Key Kyrgyzstan Base To Be Shut Down

All that love the world was allegedly going to have for us has apparently disappeared after 17 days of glorious Hopenchange. While Barack Obama is busy releasing terrorists, our former allies are sticking a thumb in his eye by dealing us a key strategic blow in Asia.

Kyrgyzstan will not reverse its decision to close a U.S. air base on its territory that is key to American and NATO operations in Afghanistan, a top Kyrgyz security official said Friday.

The statement by Kyrgyzstan's National Security Council chief Adakhan Madumarov appeared to dash any U.S. hopes of securing a last-minute reprieve for the Manas air base, which is located just outside the capital of Bishkek.

"The fate of the air base has been sealed; there is no doubt the bill to revoke the basing agreement will be ratified," Madumarov told a news conference.

Parliament is due to consider a government-sponsored bill to close the base next week.

Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev stunned Washington when he announced the closure of the base earlier this week after securing more than $2 billion in financial aid and credit from Russia.

Losing Manas now would pose a serious challenge to President Barack Obama's plan to send up to 30,000 more U.S. forces to fight surging Taliban and Al Qaeda violence in Afghanistan.

Good to see that Obama charm offensive paying dividens.

Air Force Airmen help community reach milestone

Chaplain (Capt.) Arthur McCaffrey and Airmen from Manas Air Base Outreach Society visit the Children's Heart Ward to celebrate the 100th heart surgery and meet the staff and patients Saturday. Manas Air Base Airmen assist the heart ward by covering the cost for the Oxygenator, a piece of equipment needed for each surgery that costs $560. I know all of the attention is given to Iraq and to a must lesser degree Afghanistan, but it is important to remember that we have service members stationed all over the globe. Everywhere they are and everywhere they go they take with them their humanity. When liberals want to portray the military as some sort of brain washed killing machine there are at least 100 kids in Kyrgyzstan that might take exception. You see these airmen reached into their own pockets to help fund the cost of heart surgery that is performed at a local hospital.
Next time you see a member of your local Code Pink chapter ask them how many lives they saved today. I don't mean in some sort metaphysical way, I mean real lives. All these self absorbed hypocritical liberals who find money to donate to political campaigns ought to reevaluate their priorities and send their money and talent somewhere where it will do some real good in the lives of people.
Or not, our service men and women are always there to pick up their slack.
