Another Washed-Up RINO for Obama

Former Massachusetts Governor William Weld, who nobody has heard from since the Clinton administration, came out and read a press release written for him by his new boss, Barack Obama. Or whoever it is who ghostwrites Obama rhetorical pablum.

Former Governor William Weld of Massachusetts is the latest Republican to cross over and support Democrat Barack Obama for president.

Weld held a press conference in Salem, N.H. to announce his endorsement. While Massachusetts is a slam dunk for Obama, neighboring New Hampshire is a competitive state.

"Senator Obama is a once-in-a-lifetime candidate who will transform our politics and restore America's standing in the world," Weld said in a statement. "We need a president who will lead based on our common values and Senator Obama demonstrates an ability to unite and inspire. Throughout this campaign I've watched his steady leadership through trying times and I'm confident he is the best candidate to move our country forward."

Way to support the party, Bill. I guess this example of tremendous courage allows you to still attend all those DC cocktail parties you're so fond of.

By the way, can anyone cite an example of Obama's steady leadership? What has he led other than a credit card fraud enterprise? And how exactly is he going to restore our standing in the world when every despot on the planet is waiting to pounce according to Joe Biden? Is that restoring our standing bit code for reducing us to paper tiger status again? Sure, everyone will just love us when we have fecklessness at the top.

And this is the man that is polling better then Fred Thompson and Rudy in New Hampshire. The Republican party is in a complete meltdown.

I wish to apologize ahead of time to the all the men and women and their families of our Armed Forces in the event Obamamania completely sweeps away all common sense and adult responsibility in this country and he winds up being president.

You have accomplished great things in the Middle East but the onslaught of the Mass Market Media along with apathy and complete ignorance of too many Americans of what you have accomplished will be swept from the history books in fell swoop. If he does win I will cry.

I am not giving up the fight no more then you have and I will continue to fight for who I believe is the best man to make sure that all you have gained is not wiped out.

For all of you so called Republicans you need to go look at what you consider to be Republican values, which I thought were fiscal responsibility, small federal government and personal responsibility, and if those are not the attributes you are looking for in a Republican candidate then you need to go ahead and publicly declare your support of the Democrat candidates.

Quit your Republican association like some sort of Halloween mask like so many of those running for the nomination are.

Wow, I just don't know if the party can soldier on after such a crucial defection.

Chafee quietly quits the GOP

Lincoln D. Chafee, who lost his Senate seat in the wave of anti-Republican sentiment in last November’s election, said yesterday that he has left the party.

Chafee said he disaffiliated with the party he had helped lead, and his father had led before him, because the national Republican Party has gone too far away from his stance on too many critical issues, from war to economics to the environment.

“It’s not my party any more,” he said.

Chafee’s departure is another step in the waning of the strain of moderate Republicanism that was once a winning political philosophy from Rhode Island and Connecticut to the Canadian border. For the first time since the Civil War, the six New England states combined now have only one Republican U.S. House member, Connecticut’s Christopher Shays.

Chafee said he disaffiliated from the party “in June or July,” making him an unaffiliated voter. He did so quietly, and until yesterday, he said, “No one’s asked me about it.” He said he made the move because “I want my affiliation to accurately reflect my status.”

Nobody asked, frankly, because nobody cares. The notion he helped lead the party is absurd He was a RINO, plain and simple, and was not a reliable GOP vote.
