Chuck Devore Welcomes Carly Fiorina To The Senate Race

Ms Fiorina announced her entry into the race for the senate seat currently held by Barbara Boxer yesterday and in the spirit of the moment Mr Devore, another Republican candidate, already has a video out welcoming her to the contest.

Shut up Mr Gingrich and Steele.

Why The November Elections Scare Me

Georgia had their primary elections yesterday and the outcome of a couple of the races is very telling. It involves the candidates running under the Democrat banner. It is very apparent to the Democrats in this country that candidates with a history of corruption and even criminal offenses is not enough reason for them to be denied election to office. Here are 2 cases in point.
The first is the race to determine the Democrat challenger to Saxby Chambliss for Senator from Georgia. There were five candidates on the ballot and no winner has been decided. They will have to go to a runoff to determine who the candidate will be. What is shocking is who the 2 candidates are that will be facing off in this runoff. They are Jim Martin and Vernon Jones.
Vernon Jones won the most votes, but why is that so shocking? Vernon Jones was the former CEO of Dekalb county Georgia, the same area that is home to Cynthia McKinney. Vernon Jones has been involved in one after another case involving abuse of his position while CEO, charges of corruption and even criminal charges of rape. If you Google "Vernon Jones Rape" you will receive 50,300 articles talking about the topic.
For Vernon Jones corruption you will get 48,900 articles.
Sometimes he was accused of doing both at the same time. What is also interesting in that article is that one of the reporters who contributed to that report, Dale Cardwell, was also on the Democrat ballot to challenge for this seat.
The rape charges were later dropped under mysterious circumstances and rumors of the victim being paid off.

The Democratic candidate himself is likely to be subject to questions about his personal life. As DeKalb CEO, Jones was the center of several controversies — including a 2005 rape allegation, in which a woman alleged Jones, who is not married, had assaulted her after a night of consentual sex with her and a second woman.

After a nine-month investigation, the woman withdrew the charges, but never recanted.

Jim Martin the other guy in this run off is a career politician and highly touted by the "Progressive Democrats". Progressives is code word for the folks who frequent web sites like the Daily Kos. Click on that link only if you are prepared to be subjected to some very vile, crude, and profanity laced reading. So the Dems have to choose between a candidate who ought to be in jail and one who has the endorsement of Kos crowd.

The second case is the one for my congressional district (GA-13). The Republicans have their candidate Deborah Honeycutt. The Democrat, who is the incumbent, is David Scott. This time he had some challengers, mainly because when you appear on the list of 25 most corrupt politicians in DC you would think there was some weakness. By the way that group is a liberal group. Well you would be wrong. He beat his competition 64% to 36%.
The reason to be scared is because come November it is expected that the Dems will be turning out in large numbers so that they can cast a vote for the Obama Messiah. They will go into the polling booth and ask for a Democrat ballot and vote for these guys right along with Changemeister. The voter either doesn't bother to get informed or else they are just apathetic to the personal flaws and politics of the candidates. Obviously they must be if they can follow blindly the rhetoric of Barack, who if he presented his resume to a Fortune 500 company, might have trouble getting hired based on how thin it is.

Senate Looks to Restore Rights for Terrorists

It's bad enough these morons want to give criminal aliens citizenship, but now the Senate also wants to bestow rights on the scum at Gitmo. Never in my memory has a country gone out of its way to commit suicide.

Guantanamo prisoners and other foreigners got a step closer to regaining the right to challenge their detention in the U.S. courts in a bill approved in a U.S. Senate committee on Thursday.

The Judiciary Committee voted 11-8 to send the proposal to the full Senate for debate, with Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania the lone Republican joining the Democratic majority.

Congress last year revoked the rights of foreign terrorism suspects labeled "enemy combatants" to challenge their detention by the United States. The Bush administration said it was necessary to prevent them from attacking Americans if freed.

The move affected about 380 suspected al Qaeda and Taliban captives held at the Guantanamo Bay naval base in Cuba. It could also affect 12 million legal residents of the United States who are not U.S. citizens, said the committee chairman, Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy (news, bio, voting record) of Vermont.

"I hope the Senate will reconsider the historic error in judgment," Leahy said.

Tough Talk From Dingy Harry

If he wants to drive off the cliff, he's more than welcome, so long as he takes the rest of his cut-and-run bunch with him.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Monday he will try to cut off funding for the Iraq war if President Bush rejects Congress' proposal to set a deadline for ending combat.

The move is likely to intensify the Democrats' rift with the administration, which already contends Democrats are putting troops at risk by setting deadlines.

"It's time the self-appointed strategists on Capitol Hill understood a very simple concept: You cannot win a war if you tell the enemy you're going to quit," Vice President Dick Cheney said Monday at fundraising luncheon for Sen. Jeff Sessions.

In recent weeks, the House and Senate voted separately to finance the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan but set an end date for combat in Iraq. The House proposal orders all combat troops as of Aug. 31, 2008, whereas the Senate orders some troops to leave right away with the nonbinding goal of ending combat by March 31, 2008.
The House and Senate are working on a final proposal that can be sent to the president by the end of the month.

Mindful that they hold a shaky majority in Congress and that neither chamber has enough votes to override a presidential veto, Democrats are already thinking about the next step after Bush rejects their legislation.

Being from Nevada, you'd think he'd know when he's playing a weak hand, but his bitterness is getting the best of him.

Meanwhile, although I'm always a bit dubious of Dick Morris, he makes some good points today, and he may be right as to where things are headed.

But Bush will, inevitably, win the game of chicken. Pelosi and Reid have too much sense to be caught denying funding to troops in combat. Bush will make the price of obstinacy too great for the Democrats to bear.

Nobody will want to be in the position of cutting off funding and appearing to undermine the troops during a war.

But the consequences for Pelosi of a retreat will be serious: She'll leave behind her the party's left - who will never vote for funding without also mandating withdrawal. Pelosi will have to scramble and craft a majority with a combination of Republican votes and support from the center of her own party.

The speaker will probably wind up having to vote against the majority of her Democratic members. That spectacle won't be healthy for her future authority or control.

If the Republicans are smart, they will let Pelosi hang by her own rope and will force her to break her party apart by twisting arms for every last vote to pass a funding bill.

Inadvertently forced into triangulation, Pelosi and Reid will be the unwilling instruments of a schism in their party from which it may not recover until after the 2008 election.

It way well be Reid is just bluffing, knowing cutting off funding will have disastrous political consequences. But time is running short and the Democrats will soon be forced to choose: the troops or the far-left fringe of their party.
