George Soros Part of Group Trying to Buy Rams?

I'm wondering whether anyone in this group knows any of the other prospective buyers? That and what the heck Dave Checketts is smoking. Let's put it this way: If Limbaugh's out then the NFL is going to have one heck of a job selling football fans on this anti-American creep George Soros.

Well, the Rush Limbaugh/St. Louis Rams saga may have finally reached the point of the absurd ... if it wasn't already.

Late yesterday, news broke that former Madison Square Garden chief executive Dave Checketts dropped the conservative talk-show host from a bid to purchase the Rams from current team owner Chip Rosenbloom, who hasn't yet officially put the team up for sale.

Now comes word, via Bloomberg, that ultra-liberal billionaire financier/philanthropist George Soros, who once compared some of Pres. Bush's tactics in the war on terror to the Nazi regime, may also be part of the bid.

Talk about NFL ownership making for strange bedfellows. That's about as bizarre as it can get.

Indeed, it was reported by Bloomberg on Monday that Soros was part of the group, but seemed to have escaped much notice.

If Soros is indeed a member of the ownership group, then Checketts must eliminate him from consideration, too. After all, if Limbaugh's polarizing views were anathema to a league that wants to avoid controversy, then Soros' extreme remarks should also raise a red flag to owners.

Soros was once reported to have said that removing Pres. Bush from office was the "central focus of my life" and "a matter of life and death."

Talk about polarizing comments.

Don't think the NFL will want to be addressing those remarks any time soon.

If it turns out that Soros is indeed a member of the Checketts group, then we can only surmise one of two things: that perhaps he thought Limbaugh and Soros would balance one another out on the political side, or that this will go down as one of the most pathetically misguided plans ever devised to purchase an NFL franchise.

At this point, we're leaning toward the latter.

Irony of the Day: 'Sources' Say Limbaugh Out of Checketts Group

After a week of relentless lies, slander and gutter tactics by the angry left and the race pimps, it appears the group led by Dave Checketts interested in buying the St. Louis Rams may be on the verge of caving and parting ways with Rush Limbaugh.

Chalk up another victory to the smear merchants. They must be so proud.

Rush Limbaugh is expected to be dropped from a group bidding to buy the St. Louis Rams, according to three NFL sources.

Dave Checketts, chairman of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and the point man in the Limbaugh group attempting to buy the Rams, realizes he must remove the controversial conservative radio host from his potential role as a minority member in the group in order to get approval from other NFL owners, the sources said.

Three-quarters of the league's 32 owners would have to approve any sale to Limbaugh and his group. Earlier this week, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay predicted that Limbaugh's potential bid would be met by significant opposition. Several players have also voiced their displeasure with Limbaugh's potential ownership position, and NFL Players Association head DeMaurice Smith, who is black, urged players to speak out against Limbaugh's bid.

Ultimately, the sources said, Checketts must reconfigure his group and find another investor to make his bid more viable.

Exactly when Limbaugh will be dropped is uncertain, though some familiar with the situation said it could be within the next week. It is unclear if the two sides even have spoken.

Ironic how we've come to this. It's been very dubious sources spreading misinformation in a deliberate smear campaign against Limbaugh. Many other unquestioning sources of news, such as the leftwing blogs, CNN, MSNBC, and ESPN have used these lies against Limbaugh without even bothering to ascertain their truthfulness.

And now we have ESPN using unnamed sources to say Limbaugh is on his way out.

Until I hear it from a reliable source such as Limbaugh, be very wary of the story's reliability. Rush was particularly fired up earlier today.

Earlier, on his syndicated radio show, Limbaugh was defiant, holding on to hope that he still could be part of the ownership group that buys the Rams.

"I'm not even thinking of exiting," Limbaugh said on his program, according to a transcript provided to ESPN. "I'm not even thinking of caving. I am not a caver. None of us are. We have been betrayed by too many who have caved. Pioneers take the arrows. We are pioneers. It's a sad thing but our country over 200 years old now needs pioneers all over again, but we do."

Indeed, too many cave easily.

Oh, and memo to Checketts: If you ever do get the Rams, be prepared to answer to your new bosses: Reverends Sharpton and Jackson.

Steelers -7.5 RAMS: Steelers coming off two bad losses to New England and Jacksonville, and are in a dogfight now for a playoff spot. Screw this up and they could be facing disaster. They should be able to physically handle the 3-11 Rams, and need to grind it out with plenty of Willie Parker. Rams may keep it interesting for a bit, but are just overmatched. Steelers 33-21
