These Ivy League universities are all for gays in the military. Yet when it comes to welcoming ROTC on their campus, that's when "tolerance" goes out the window. This is a particularly ugly display at the same campus that welcomed Iranian psychopath Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with open arms a few years ago.

Columbia University students heckled a war hero during a town-hall meeting on whether ROTC should be allowed back on campus.

"Racist!" some students yelled at Anthony Maschek, a Columbia freshman and former Army staff sergeant awarded the Purple Heart after being shot 11 times in a firefight in northern Iraq in February 2008. Others hissed and booed the veteran.

Maschek, 28, had bravely stepped up to the mike Tuesday at the meeting to issue an impassioned challenge to fellow students on their perceptions of the military.

"It doesn't matter how you feel about the war. It doesn't matter how you feel about fighting," said Maschek. "There are bad men out there plotting to kill you."

Unfortunately Maschek doesn't seem to understand these so-called students are on the side of the bad guys, not the U.S. military.

Several students laughed and jeered the Idaho native, a 10th Mountain Division infantryman who spent two years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington recovering from grievous wounds.

Maschek, who is studying economics, miraculously survived the insurgent attack in Kirkuk. In the hail of gunfire, he broke both legs and suffered wounds to his abdomen, arm and chest.

He enrolled last August at the Ivy League school, where an increasingly ugly battle is unfolding over the 42-year military ban there.

This is where we are now in America: People laugh and sneer at wounded veterans. Yet go and make fun of a liberal and it's basically a hate crime.

José Robledo, 30, a Columbia student who commutes to Fordham University for ROTC coursework, said he found the treatment of Maschek abhorrent.

"The anti-ROTC side has been disrespectful and loud. They hiss and they jeer," he said. "It's been to the detriment of the argument."

Gee, ya think?

One would hope that some day the Forces of Tolerance actually become, you know, tolerant of others. I think that ship has sailed, however. There's just no reaching such sick, hate-filled, bigoted minds.

So much for the new age of civility. That only applies to one side of the political spectrum, apparently.

A Columbia dean apparently is in favor of allowing ROTC back, but according to this report that represents bias or something. Bias, of course, being speech you don't agree with.

Several students from Lucha, a Latino activist group, and Students for Justice in Palestine said that having the dean of the college open the event with a pro-ROTC speech inserted a bias into the debate.

“There is something wrong when the person with authority, the dean of Columbia College, the person who represents this institution, and spoke as the voice of the institution, begins a supposedly open debate with a biased narrative,” Aarti Sethi, GSAS ’15, said.

Yet it's all to clear who the bigots are.

Nico Barragan, CC ’13 and an ROTC air force cadet, said that it’s members of the military who are made to feel uncomfortable on campus.

“I try to avoid walking around campus in my uniform. I get dirty looks and people in class tell me I’m signing up to kill children to pay my tuition bills,” Barragan, who is also the secretary of Columbia Queer Alliance, said.

Learned Foote, CC ’11 and Columbia College Student Council president, said many of the people who speak publicly about ROTC have radical opinions.

“I do wonder what the median Columbia student thinks about this,” he said.

Barragan said he believes most Columbia students support ROTC but remain silent.

“The anti-military are always gonna be the radicals. They’re going to be the loudest but they’re not the majority,” he said.

Hillary Blasts 'Extremists' and 'Crazy Voices That Sometimes Get on the TV'

Over in the United Arab Emirates our Secretary of State chimes in on the Arizona shootings.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Monday called the alleged shooter of Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords an "extremist" and urged an Abu Dhabi audience not to let the incident define the United States.

Responding to a student in the United Arab Emirates, who asked her at a town hall meeting about American animosity toward the Arab world for the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Clinton said people should work to marginalize "extremists" in all societies.

"We have extremists in my country. A wonderful, incredibly brave young woman Congress member, Congresswoman Gifford[s], was just shot by an extremist in our country," she said, according to Reuters. "We have the same kinds of problems. So rather than standing off from each other, we should work to try to prevent the extremists anywhere from being able to commit violence."

I guess calling him a leftwing extremist won't be happening. Then she begins picking up on the current liberal mantra.

Clinton said extremists do not represent the U.S. or Arab nations.

"The extremists and their voices, the crazy voices that sometimes get on the TV, that's not who we are, that's not who you are, and what we have to do is get through that and make it clear that that doesn't represent either American or Arab ideas or opinions," she said.

I'll assume she's talking about far-left extremists Keith Olbermann and Ed Schultz.

Of course you know she's not and is just taking a thinly veiled swipe at Fox, which was already blame by New Jersey Democrat Bill Pascrell Saturday.

I guess they haven't gotten the memo about dialing down the rhetoric. But rest assured this is part of a coordinated effort and it's already well underway.

Obama Ushers in Era of Compromise and Cooperation by Resubmitting Extremist Judicial Nominations

Of course when the current occupant of the White House calls for compromise it means Republicans shut up and go along with him. This isn't a promising first step, to say the least.

President Barack Obama on Wednesday resubmitted a batch of federal judicial nominations that didn't clear the Senate last year, including four that provoked strong objections from some Republican lawmakers.

Obama sent 42 names to the Senate. They include 35 nominees for federal district courts and seven for the appellate courts.

The most controversial of the four is Goodwin Liu, a dean at the University of California, Berkeley, law school. Liu was renominated for a seat on the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. He also is seen as a potential Supreme Court pick by a Democratic president.

Republicans have criticized Liu for negative comments about then-Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito, now a justice on the Supreme Court.

The others contentious nominees are Edward Chen, Louis B. Butler Jr. and John J. McConnell Jr., all nominated to become U.S. District Court judges.

Republicans now control six more seats in the rearranged Senate, making it less likely that lawmakers will approve the most controversial of Obama's picks this time around.

In fact, Sen. Orrin Hatch, a former chairman and still a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, pledged immediately to vigorously oppose Obama's "most extreme judiciary nominees." Hatch, R-Utah, said their "activist approach would control rather than follow the Constitution."

Republicans criticized Liu's nomination from the start.

At the dean's Senate confirmation hearing, Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., noted Liu's criticism of Alito after President George W. Bush nominated him to the Supreme Court.

Liu said at the time that Alito's vision of America is one "where police may shoot and kill an unarmed boy.where federal agents may point guns at ordinary citizens during a raid, even after no sign of resistance, where the FBI may install a camera where you sleep.where a black man may be sentenced to death by an all-white jury for killing a white man absent. analysis showing discrimination."

Kyl called the comments vicious, and emotionally and racially charged."

Liu later said he used "unnecessarily colorful language" and that he had the highest regard for Alito's career. Liu said his remarks followed a 14-page analysis of Alito's rulings. Alito had been a federal appellate court judge before he was elevated to the high court.

'I See That As a Real Insensitivity Towards … Towards Catholics'

Once again the bigots at the New York Times reveal themselves.

He leads 2.5 million Catholics, and on Thursday night Timothy Dolan was using his position to take on a media giant.

The archbishop is angry at the New York Times, and he’s not being shy about showing it.

Dolan sat down with CBS 2’s Sean Hennessey for an exclusive one-on-one interview.

Once again, Dolan and the New York Times are at odds.

“I see that as a real insensitivity towards … towards Catholics,” Dolan said.

Archbishop Dolan is blasting the paper for what he calls a double standard when it comes to race, religion, and the treatment of Catholics. Specifically, an exhibit that includes a severely critical image of Cardinal O’Connor and a picture of a nun.

“In a gaudy, obnoxious, suggestive pose,” Dolan said.

With the paper’s positive review of the play about nuns in movies.

“Why give publicity to that? You would never give publicity to somebody who did that to an Islamic revered figure or to Jesse Jackson. They just would never think of doing that,” Dolan said.

Then there’s an exhibit by the group ACT-UP and an image of a beloved Cardinal. Even though the Times review never mentions the picture, Dolan is upset with the recommendation to go see an exhibit he calls offensive to Catholics.

“To have a poster there and say, oh look, in this enlightened exhibit that everybody ought to see, a picture of Cardinal O’Connor comparing him to a condom and calling him a scumbag. They wouldn’t get away with that with any other community,” Dolan said.

The Times said, “While Archbishop Dolan may not like the play or the art under consideration, The Times’ job is to report on and review such cultural events, even if some may disagree with the content of the art work.”

Back where the play got out, offensiveness, like beauty was in the eyes of the beholder.

“There was something there that was offensive to everybody, of any religion,” one person said.

“Nobody took it seriously,” another person added.

But Dolan is taking it seriously, saying he’s not above humor or criticism, he just wants an equal playing field from one of the most respected papers in the country.

“If they’re going to say, ‘Oh no, we do that all the time,’ I’m going to say, show me when you do it to the Islamic community, to the Jewish community, to the African-American community, to the gay community. Show me when you do it there. They don’t do it because they know that’s out of bounds,” Dolan said.

Of course they don't to it to anyone else. Because they're cowards.

As to to printing cartoons goofing on Mohammed, you can hardly even find a mention of that so-called controversy, never mind the actual cartoons themselves.

Other publishers, including The New York Times, chose not to print the cartoons or images of Muhammad when the controversy erupted worldwide in February 2006.

Since the Times says their "job is to report on and review such cultural events," I can't wait until they do a review of an exhibit showing critical images of Mohammed, though I won't hold my breath.

Tolerance: Fringe Leftwingers Take Aim at Target

Nothing like the Forces of Tolerance on the left abiding by the time-honored American tradition of free speech and association. Well, they agree with you if you donate to Democrats, of course. Dare to give money to a Republican and here comes the goon squad.

Mega-retailer Target has found itself in the bullseye of a customer uprising.

In the wake of the company's decision to donate $150,000 to a right-wing conservative's political campaign, former Target shoppers across the country are calling for a nation-wide boycott.

And the movement to protest the super-saver store is gaining buzz – and traction – on Facebook and Twitter, as a petition threatening a boycott of Target rebounds across the Internet.

“Target should stay out of politics, like I am gonna stay out of your store if you don't,” Facebook user Erlene Adair Harvey wrote on Target’s fan page.

Target Corp. made the significant donation to Minnesota political action committee MN Forward, which funds television ads for Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer.

The company’s support of Emmer has drawn a firestorm of controversy for the candidate’s hard-line conservative views – he opposes same-sex marriage and abortion, and supports Arizona's efforts to pass the controversial S.B. 1070 immigration bill.

Gee, he's so out of the mainstream, huh? Last I checked a majority of Americans were right in line with Emmer, with an overwhelming majority supporting SB 1070. And in case these drooling morons haven't realized it, the current occupant of the White House also claims he opposes gay marriage (take his word at face value). So if they donate money to him, using their own logic that makes them hatemongers.

But that's not OK with the thugs from MoveOn. Let them take their business elsewhere and spend more money while they're at it.

The protests have, so far, been confined to within Minnesota. But MoveOn is pushing for a much more deafening, national response -- targeting Target on Facebook in addition to an online ad campaign that was also launched on Tuesday.

Because Target is, itself, a trendsetter in the post-Citizens United world, the campaign against them could have a ripple effect throughout the political landscape. Either MoveOn succeeds in discouraging companies from, or giving them pause when, making forays into electoral politics (wary of angering potential customers) or it convinces these same companies that there is a small price to pay for putting money behind candidates.

Better yet. Conservatives and like-minded people who actually believe in free speech can now shop at Target to show their support. After all, we are in the majority. So bring it on, People of Stupid.

This Day in JournoList: CNN Stars Helped Coordinate Attack on Palin

For those who would like to dismiss the esteemed members of the infamous JournoList as just a bunch of fringe bloggers, be sure to note the presence of a couple of CNN employees in this discussion looking to destroy Sarah Palin when she was named as John McCain's running mate in 2008.

“What a joke,” added Jeffrey Toobin of the New Yorker. “I always thought that some part of McCain doesn’t want to be president, and this choice proves my point. Welcome back, Admiral Stockdale.”

In addition to the New York, Toobin is also CNN's legal analyst with plenty of personal peccadilloes of his own.

In 2008, when Greenfield became pregnant, and when she told Toobin the news, he offered her "money if she'd have an abortion," says a source. He also allegedly offered to pay for her to have another child later via a sperm donor.

"When Casey wouldn't have an abortion, Jeff told her she was going to regret it, that she shouldn't expect any help from him," claims another source.

I wonder if his co-conspirators discussed any of that? Toobin, by the way, was married at the time he was trying to force his girlfriend into an abortion, or in liberal parlance, enforced choice.

Meanwhile, Time and CNN's Joe Klein, last seen accusing Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck of being seditious, eagerly pushed an early line of attack against Palin, one the rest of this cabal eagerly ran with.

Joe Klein of Time stopped by with an update on the latest from his magazine: “We’re reporting that she actually supported the bridge to nowhere. First flub?”

If there's any doubt Klein isn't a leftwing apparatchik, it's now evaporated.

Time’s Joe Klein then linked to his own piece, parts of which he acknowledged came from strategy sessions on Journolist. “Here’s my attempt to incorporate the accumulated wisdom of this august list-serve community,” he wrote. And indeed Klein’s article contained arguments developed by his fellow Journolisters. Klein praised Palin personally, calling her “fresh” and “delightful,” but questioned her “militant” ideology. He noted Palin had endorsed parts of Obama’s energy proposal.

Other participants on the JournoList are desperately trying to downplay the daily damage coming out. Good luck with that, kiddies.

It's worth noting there'd be howls of outrage if it were discovered that Fox commentators were coordinating a behind the scenes attack on a Democrat candidate.

Census Worker Killed Himself and the Credibility of Leftwing Bloggers

You'll recall the mass hysteria a couple of months ago when virtually the entire leftwing blogosphere rushed to conclusions and blamed "teabaggers" and basically anyone who opposed the Obama administration for what they immediately declared a murder.

Ooops. Would you folks like to walk that one back now?

A Kentucky Census worker found hanging from a tree with the word "fed" written on his chest killed himself and staged his death to look like a murder, authorities said Tuesday.

Kentucky State Police said Bill Sparkman died at the same location where his body was found Sept. 12 near a cemetery in a heavily wooded area of southeastern Kentucky.

A man who found the body in the Daniel Boone National Forest said the 51-year-old was bound with duct tape, gagged and had an identification badge taped to his neck.

Investigators say Sparkman acted alone in manipulating the scene to conceal the suicide.

No, it wasn't tea party activists, it wasn't some Glenn Beck viewer, it was Sparkman himself.

Don't expect to hear any apologies from the angry left, their credibility now shattered.

Actually, it wasn't just the deranged left bloggers, but the lamestream media also got in on the act.

It was a bizarre and gruesome discovery in a remote section of eastern Kentucky: Bill Sparkman, a 51-year-old teacher and part-time worker for the United States Census, was found two weeks ago hanging from a tree with the word "Fed" scrawled on his chest in felt tip pen.

A man who said he was among those who found the body told tells the Associated Press that Sparkman was naked, bound at the hands and feet with duct tape and gagged - details that have not yet been confirmed by authorities.

Jerry Weaver of Ohio told the Associated Press he was visiting a cemetery in rural Kentucky with family members on Sept. 12 when he, his wife and daughter saw the body.

"The only thing he had on was a pair of socks," Weaver said. "And they had duct-taped his hands, his wrists. He had duct tape over his eyes, and they gagged him with a red rag or something.

"He was murdered," Weaver said. "There's no doubt."

One porcine pundit called it another Glenn Beck killing. He might want to consider a retraction before calling his lawyer.

The Daily Kos blamed Michelle Bachmann (R-MN). Another kook blamed all of the above.

Michelle Malkin wonders when the smears will be retracted. Well, it won't. The left will just MoveOn to another hoax.

Our prayers are with Sparkman's family. I'd say a prayer for the left but they're beyond redemption.

Seething Gay Activists Urge Boycott of Black People

Oh, sorry, I meant against the state of Utah. Conveniently omitted from this story is the fact 70% of the black voters in California rejected gay marriage at the ballot Tuesday, but going after the base of the party wouldn't help the cause, so it's time for a diversion. Since these bigots hate Mormons, they make a convenient target.

Utah's growing tourism industry and the star-studded Sundance Film Festival are being targeted for a boycott by bloggers, gay rights activists and others seeking to punish the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its aggressive promotion of California's ban on gay marriage.

It could be a heavy price to pay. Tourism brings in $6 billion a year to Utah, with world-class skiing, spectacular red-rock country and the film festival founded by Robert Redford among popular tourist draws.

Gay rights activist John Aravosis, whose well-trafficked AmericaBlog.com is urging the boycott, is unapologetic about targeting Utah rather than California, where voters defined marriage in the state Constitution as a heterosexual act.

Utah, Aravosis said, "is a hate state," and on this issue, "at a fundamental level, the Utah Mormons crossed the line. . . . They just took marriage away from 20,000 couples and made their children bastards. You don't do that and get away with it."

Typical leftist intimidation tactics. When the little babies don't get their way, they flip out, make threats and blackmail an entire state.

Meanwhile, one of the dumbest people on the planet said California voters were too stupid to understand what they were doing. She has a point. They did vote for her.
