Phillies Fan Tasered After Running on Field

Well, at least he didn't puke on anyone. But was tasering this kid necessary? It seemed his biggest concern was keeping his hat on before he gave himself up. So why on earth does the security guard feel the need to zap him?
For the first time in Phillies history, a fan running on the field at Citizens Bank Park was subdued by a Philadelphia police officer using his Taser gun.

With 44,817 fans watching in the stands Monday night, the teenage male, wearing a black baseball cap, red T-shirt, and khaki shorts, ran on to the field during the eighth inning against the St. Louis Cardinals.

"This is the first time that a Taser gun has been used by Philadelphia police to apprehend a field jumper," Phillies spokeswoman Bonnie Clark said in a statement. "The Police Department is investigating this matter and the Phillies are discussing with them whether in future situations this is an appropriate use of force under these circumstances. That decision will be made public."

The fan made several loops in center field with security personnel and the police officer in pursuit. The officer appeared to fire several times before hitting the man. The man fell to the ground. He was then helped off the field.

The police officer "utilized his Taser" when a fan ran onto the field, said police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore.

Running on the field during a game is a crime and has been for decades. Normally, such suspects are wrestled to the ground, escorted off the field, and arrested.

It was unclear Monday night if a Taser had ever been used on a Major League Baseball field to subdue such a suspect.

Vanore said the Police Department's internal affairs unit would open an investigation to determine if the firing "was proper use of the equipment.
There's a photo montage of the tasering in action at the link.

'Allah Told Me to Watch a Bruce Willis Movie and Walk the Dog'

I'm not that crazy for Allah and his religion, but really, blaming him for this seems to be a bit of a stretch. On the upside, at least he wasn't blowing things up.
A 40-year-old man walking his dog in the nude was Tasered by police when he refused to follow an officer's commands. David McCranie of the Tallahassee Police Department said an officer on patrol spotted the man shortly after 8 p.m. Friday.

The man was asked what he was doing and told the officer, "Allah told me to watch a Bruce Willis movie and walk the dog," McCranie said.

McCranie said using the Taser was the only way to subdue the man without having to hurt him.

'Imagine the Kids and Grandma Seeing the Bride and Groom Getting Tasered on the Floor'

Sounds like a fun time was had by all. Of course, people should expect a visit from police when guests start hurling lamps through plate glass windows.
The wedding was on a Michigan beach, the reception was in an art gallery -- but a former Chicago couple's wedding night was spent in separate jail cells after both bride and groom got shocked by a police Taser and arrested at their raucous reception.

Andy Somora and Anna Pastuszwska's July 19 wedding reception in tiny Lakeside, Mich., is still the talk of the town after officers from 14 police departments swarmed the art gallery to quell a melee. The groom's father, uncle, aunt and cousin -- several of whom hail from Villa Park and La Grange Park -- also got arrested.

"The short version of the story is they didn't want to quit their partying," said Mike Sepic, Berrien County, Mich., chief assistant prosecutor. "If you put this in the class of wedding receptions gone bad, I guess this would take the cake."

And the story didn't end after the reception. Two nights later, the bride and groom were again arrested in Michigan -- and again shocked by a stun gun -- after struggling with police investigating a noise complaint, Sepic said. The groom was charged with pushing his new wife down during that incident, but the charge was later dropped as part of a plea bargain, Sepic said.

It all played out across the Michigan border in Harbor Country, a sleepy summer vacation area known for its antiques, dune-filled beaches and sun-burned Chicagoans.

The wedding couple had moved to Colorado from Chicago in recent years, but they chose Lakeside for their wedding because of past times spent there, a friend said. It rained during their beachside ceremony, but the 100 or more guests huddled under umbrellas before heading to Burnison Galleries on the Red Arrow Highway for the reception.

Wedding photographer Kacper Skowron, a friend of the bride, said the party was "civilized" and "top-notch," with guests from around the country.

Gallery co-owner Tom Burnison, however, said that, fueled by alcohol, it got out of control and potentially dangerous, including when a guest heaved a metal lamp into a plate glass window. "Calling the police was a last resort," Burnison said.

Stunning News: Tasers Now a Fashion Staple

A couple of months ago we noted the burgeoning popularity of Taser parties being held out in Arizona.

Well, now comes news that Tasers have become a fashion accessory staple.
Will stylish women soon be literally as well as figuratively stunning? If the folks at Taser have their way, fashionistas will soon be stopping muggers in their tracks and watching the bandits collapse bonelessly at their well-shod feet - thanks to a 50,000 volt stun gun.

Last week the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas featured a new chick device from Taser that hopes to be the Lady Remington of the pain compliance industry. You may remember Taser from such scandals as the long-running Bernard Kerik Follies of 2004 to two-thousand-whenever (Bernie sold $6.2 million worth of stock options the company gave him while he was promoting their product) and from alarmed reports by groups such as Amnesty International (which has linked the Taser to 280 deaths, although in Amnesty's typically frustrating way, it did not tally up how many of the victims deserved it).

Taser rolled out its new weapon for femmes fatales, the C2, which puts high voltage into a holster containing a one gigabyte MP3 player with darling little white earbuds. “Fashion with a bite," says Taser. Wags instantly dubbed it the “iTase," though we'll have to wait to see if C2 adds texting capabilities to turn it into a BlastBerry. Can a promotional deal with Jolt Cola be far behind?

Taser boasts that the C2 has enough juice in its lithium battery to deliver up to 50 shocks, although you probably won't need it that many times unless you live in Detroit.

The C2, which is illegal for civilian use in New York and New Jersey, but legal in California, comes in not only “red-hot red" and “fashion pink" colors but also in a leopard-skin model, because drag queens need personal protection too. (Each time it fires, it also releases a burst of confetti with a serial number traceable to the weapon on each piece, to increase both accountability and fabulousness.) Will such cutesy-wootsyness be enough to convince trendy women? Will the next cliché of headline writers be “The Devil Wears Taser"?

Forget Tupperware: Women Flocking to Taser Parties!

Maybe I can talk Mrs. JWF into hosting one of these get togethers.

Although it'd probably be a good idea if I left the premises for the day.

Granted, liberal bedwetters and Amnesty International will probably condemn this.

Taser parties stunning success with female clients

Stunning success. Get it?
Pack up your Tupperware, and get ready for a new kind of party.

Dana Shafman, founder of Shieldher Inc., has recently started sponsoring Taser parties, giving women a chance to buy Tasers for $300, or $350 with a laser beam to help with aiming.

Shafman's parties allow women to get together to discuss concerns and learn about the Taser C2, the newest consumer Taser that is similar to the device police officers use. "I felt that we have Tupperware parties and candle parties to protect our food and house, so why not have a Taser party to learn how to protect our lives and bodies," Shafman said.

She has had parties in Phoenix and Scottsdale by invitation. Guests have the opportunity to shoot the Taser for the first time at a cardboard cutout during the parties. For safety reasons, no alcohol is served and no one is actually Tasered.

After her first Taser party in Scottsdale recently, Shafman said, "I think the party was spectacular. It opened up opportunities for people to ask questions and get informed about the Tasers."

Debi McMahon was excited to get her Taser activated.

"I feel like I'm 6 feet tall and 250 pounds. I'm going to buy one for my mom. It's going to be her 81st birthday present."
Don't worry ladies, you can accessorize with them. But be sure to keep them away from the kids.
The Tasers come in color choices of pink, blue, silver or black, which caused the women at the Scottsdale party to worry that their small children might see the colored Tasers as a toy.

Caily Scheur, a mother of two, said, "I want to protect my children from (the Taser) just as much as I want to protect myself by using it."

Scheur said that once the Taser enters her house, she will keep it in a locked box under her bed with the key high enough so her children cannot open the box.

But some of the other women planned on telling their children what the Taser does and why it should be handled only by Mommy and Daddy.

Shafman created Shieldher Inc. in February and became the only Taser party coordinator in the nation, she said.

In Other Taser News...

Now that the moonbat generation's version of Rodney King is basking in his new-found infamy, let's not overlook the fact that others are also being tasered on a regular basis.

Sadly, we do not have any video footage of the following incident.

Police taser man with chicken in car
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - A man faces a number of charges, including drug possession, after a traffic stop in which he was stunned several times with a Taser and police found a live chicken.

Richard D. Brown, 34, was charged with cocaine possession with intent to deliver, maintaining a drug trafficking place, resisting an officer, obstructing an officer, second-offense operating while intoxicated and operating after revocation.
Now this is what a taser is meant for, real miscreants, pretty much the regular fare for any episode of COPS.

It's not meant for whiny antiwar twits desperately seeking attention.
According to Sheboygan police, the incident started about 2 a.m. Friday when an officer spotted Brown involved in a potential drug deal and tried to stop him. The man threw a pack of cigarettes out of his car window and tried to run. The pack was found to have contained more than an ounce of cocaine, authorities said.

An officer pursued Brown, caught him, punched him in the head and knocked him to the ground, authorities said, but he tried to run again. A second officer zapped both men with a stun gun as they were struggling, and Brown again before he was handcuffed.

Brown told the officers he got the fowl from a local fast food restaurant, police have said.

He was taken to a hospital, where he received six stitches for two cuts on his face. The chicken was taken to the Sheboygan County Humane Society.
Both John Kerry and the chicken were unavailable for comment.
