If you've been living in a cave (wait, is that a poor choice of words?) or vote Democrat, you might almost believe it.
Saudi Arabia condemns deviant ideology and will fight terrorism, said Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz while inaugurating the 41st conference of the Federation of Arab Universities at Nayef Arab University for Security Sciences.Deviant ideology? So, is he saying the Koran promotes deviancy?
King Abdullah said deviant ideology promotes terrorism and stressed that Saudis would stand firm against terrorists.
“The great Saudi people... will stand as a strong barrier in the face of these defeated deviants and Satan's followers," the Saudi Press Agency quoted the King as saying on Sunday.
Hmm. Probably not.
“Crimes begin from sick and deviant minds, especially terrorism. While confronting terrorists, we should also deal with this murderous ideology that transforms deceived youth into tools of killing and destruction,” the King said. He emphasised the moderate teachings of Islam and said extremists would fade away like they did in the past and the moderate majority would remain.Oh, OK, moderate teachings. Like beating your wives and otherwise treating women as chattel is still acceptable, I guess.
It may be recalled that in his very first address to the Shoura Council, King Abdullah pledged to continue moderate and balanced reform in Saudi Arabia in line with the Islamic Shariah.
The King announced his commitment to fight terrorism, vowing to crush the misguided group of terrorists and murderers.
