If this doesn't become a rallying cry for halting illegal immigration, then we're doomed as a nation.
It's an unbelievable story that has an entire community in shock. If he'll face charges?
Several sources confirm a 10-year-old girl from St. Anthony gave birth to a little girl on Saturday at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg.
The girl was allegedly raped by 37-year-old Guadalupe Gutierrez-Juarez. Gutierrez-Juaraz is an illegal immigrant who is in the Fremont County Jail on rape charges.
Gutierrez-Juarez was arrested April 29th after medical personnel alerted police that a pregnant child had come in for treatment. That child is now one of the youngest mothers in Idaho.
Counselor Matt Christensen has worked with sexually abused kids for over 10 years. Although he has nothing to do with this specific case, he's seen pregnancies affect other teenagers.
Matt Christensen, Counselor: "Children go through development stages and when something seriously traumatic hits, they tend to stop the development phases at that point."
It's unclear who will take custody of the newborn, what will happen to the ten year old, and if Gutierrez-Juarez will face charges.
Maybe John McCain can address this at the La Raza Convention.
The community reacts.
We broke the unbelievable story last night of a 10-year old girl in St. Anthony who gave birth to a baby.Could deport him?
She's now one of the youngest kids in the country to become a mother.
Residents both on and off camera were shocked and in dismay over the situation, today this is what they had to say about our story.
Jim Ker, shocked resident: "I think there's a lot of sick people out there."
Holly Theisen, upset resident: "Somebody would end up getting hurt by me if that was my kid and I'd probably go to jail."
Kaity Dolezal, shocked 15-year old: "It's really sad a 10-year old gave birth after being rapped [sic]."
Theisen: "That's a ten year old. That's a baby and baby shouldn't be having babies anyway."
Shynne Angell, upset 19-year old: "She should be outside playing with other kid [sic]. For something like this to happen to her I feel bad for her."
Ker: "They're not old enough. Shouldn't have kids raising kids."
Dolezal: "I'm fifteen. Can't imagine getting close to doing something like that."
Theirsen: "Disgusting. It's sick. It's sad. It's kind of embarrassing to our town even.'
Lyle Rumsey: "I don't think anything is wrong with our town. I just think something's wrong with that person."
That person is this man, 37-year old Guadalupe Gutierrez-Juarez.
Juarez is actually an illegal immigrant, and is now behind bars in the Fremont County Jail on other rape charges.
Since we broke this story exclusively yesterday, we've been checking with sources throughout the North Valley for more information.
The criminal complaint against Gutierrez-Juarez says the rape of the 10-year old happened between November and January. As we told you last night the girl gave birth at Madison Memorial this weekend and both mother and child are doing well.
If convicted the illegal immigrant could face life in prison, a $50,000 fine, or both. Whether he ever serves anytime behind bars will be up to the judge who if he places him on probation, could deport him.
The animal should be executed.
H/T Daphne.
Update: Fox now has a story on this.
A suspected illegal immigrant has been charged with raping a 10-year-old girl who later gave birth in eastern Idaho.
The girl gave birth less than two weeks ago by caesarian section at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, Fremont County Sheriff Ralph C. Davis and other authorities said. Officials would not disclose the gender, date of birth or paternity of the baby.
"I wouldn't have believed a 10-year-old could conceive in the first place," Davis said.
A hospital spokeswoman would not discuss the condition of the girl or the baby and would not say whether either was still in the hospital Wednesday.
The story was first reported by KIDK Television in Idaho Falls.
St. Anthony police began investigating on April 28 after medical officials reported a pregnant child, and Guadalupe Gutierrez-Juarez, 37, of St. Anthony, was arrested the same day, Police Chief James Smith said.
"We had good information from witnesses," Smith said.
In documents that were filed April 29 in 7th District Court and obtained by The Associated Press, Gutierrez-Juarez is charged with one count of rape. He remained in jail with bail set at $250,000 pending a preliminary hearing May 13.
