House To Consider Impeachment of Clinton Appointed Judge

From the glorious state of Louisiana no less. Judge Porteous is a member of the federal court in New Orleans. This is just another chapter in the ongoing judicial problems for this guy. The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals back in December of 2007 recommended his impeachment.
He was appointed to the bench in 1994 by Bill Clinton.
The order lists several alleged misdeeds, citing substantial evidence from the special investigation. Among the allegations: Judge Porteous allegedly filed numerous false statements under oath during his and his wife’s personal bankruptcy proceeding; he engaged in fraudulent and deceptive conduct concerning the debt he owed to Regions Bank prior to bankruptcy; and received gifts and things of value from attorneys who had cases pending before him.

Now the fact that the Dems control Congress, and therefore all of the committees makes this even more amazing. I wouldn't expect action too fast on this however. No sense in impeaching him yet since it looks like New Orleans will send William Jefferson back to congress so there is no real place on the ballot for this guy, but look out in 2010. He could join his impeached brother in arms Alcee Hastings in Congress when all is said and done.
