Shocking Controversy in Boston

Seriously, this is enough to warrant controversy in Boston?
Hardcore fans of the Green are seeing red after Patriots quarterback Tom Brady committed the ultimate Boston sports betrayal - consorting with the enemy - yucking it up with hated Laker Kobe Bryant on the Garden floor after the Celtics’ gut-wrenching Game 3 loss.

In a WBZ-TV video creating a buzz in cyberspace, Brady is seen approaching Bryant on the hallowed parquet and congratulating the L.A. superstar moments after the crushing Celtics loss.

Hold on, it gets worse.

Bryant laughs and smacks Brady’s backside before the bromantic encounter breaks up.

Hold on, it gets worse.

Turns out Brady took in the game from courtside seats next to Bryant’s father, former NBA player Joe Bryant.

The Brady-Bryant moment set off an Internet furor, with online fans throwing darts at the West Coast transplant.

“How dare Tom Brady have a ‘special’ moment with Kobe!” one Hub sports fan fumed on Twitter.

A posting on Barstool Sports compared it to a “slap in the face.”

It’s not the first time the laid-back California dude has committed a Hub sports faux-pas. Brady has been spotted sporting a New York Yankees cap, most recently in the Big Apple in 2007.

Brady’s West Coast agent didn’t return a call.

Comcast SportsNet host Gary Tanguay acknowledged the perception among locals that Brady has gone Hollywood because he’s building a home in L.A. and isn’t on the East Coast as much in the off season.

“Throw all of that into the mix, and I can see why a Boston sports fan may not like that,” he said.
Hey, the guy has only helped New England win three Super Bowls. Who the heck does he think he is talking with a player from LA?
