Just Read The Speech, Sir. Don't Expect Anybody to Check It.

The teleprompter in chief had barely finished thanking the assembled crowd from the Disabled American Veterans when he issued his first lie.
Disabled American Veterans, I valued your advice and counsel when I was a senator, when I co-sponsored the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

Truth: The Post 9/11 GI Bill was a part of a larger piece of legislation for war appropriations, HR 2642. You see the HR stands for House Resolution, meaning that since this was an appropriations bill it started in the house not the Senate of which he was a member. The sponsor of the bill was Thomas Edwards (D-TX). So you see there is no way that Obama could have co-sponsored it. Obama did offer two amendments to the original legislation when it reached the Senate. One was to limit the awarding of contracts in excess of $5 million barring some requirements regarding taxes and the second one no information is available on. I wonder why?

When the final bill came up for a vote in the Senate it passed 92 to 1 with 7 Senators not voting. Care to guess who one of the seven not voting was?

Later on this little nugget.
That is why, after years in which the situation had deteriorated in Afghanistan, I announced a new strategy last December -- a military effort to break the Taliban's momentum and train Afghan forces so they can take the lead for security; a civilian effort to promote good governance and development that improves the lives of the Afghan people; and deeper cooperation with Pakistan to root out terrorists on both sides of the border.

Uh would that include the firing of the general in charge, Stanley McChrystal, when a published report containing comments made by his aides that were critical of the civilian leadership in Afghanistan became public? I am not sure what this announced new strategy was unless he means the stepped up use of drones rather then boots on the ground, which runs counter to the counter insurgency strategy developed by the new commander in Afghanistan Petreaus.

Anyway he went on and on trying to prove his bona-fides and nobody said he couldn't make a good speech. I think people realized that when he ascended the stage at the Democrat convention which nominated John Kerry. The problem is only about every tenth word out of his mouth rings true, and once the warm fuzzy feeling goes away you are left with an empty feeling, and in the case of this administration, probably a little lighter in the wallet to boot.
