A golfer's errant shot sparked a 12-acre forest fire in Southern California. No charges have been filed against the unidentified golfer.
The golfer was playing at the Shady Canyon Golf Course in Irvine when he hit a shot that landed in the rough.
On his next swing, the club struck a rock, causing a spark that set fire to the rough and spread into nearby woodland and over two dry, brush-covered hillsides.
The scale of the blaze saw 150 firefighters attending the scene to prevent it from spreading near homes.

Setting the Course on Fire
Usually that means you're in the groove and playing well, not actually setting the golf course ablaze. For as much hacking and duffing I've done on some of those challenging Southern California courses, I've never managed to do this.
