A Mayfair man apologized to U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., and his family Tuesday after admitting he threatened him in a video posted to YouTube in March. How charming. He must be missed over at the Huffington Post.
Norman Leboon, 38, of Benner Street near Lardner, said he was "deeply apologetic" and the words in the video directed against Cantor were "horrible."
Cantor is likely to be the next House Majority Leader when Republicans take control of the House in January.
U.S. District Judge John R. Padova set sentencing for Feb. 3. Leboon, who has been in federal custody since his arrest on March 27, could face 18 to 24 months in a federal lockup under preliminary advisory guidelines.
The government's plea memo said FBI agents in San Francisco received a copy of the YouTube video on March 27 that featured Leboon making threats against Cantor.
During the video, Leboon said of Cantor and his family:
"Remember Eric ... our judgment time, the final Yom Kippur has been given. You are a liar, you're a Lucifer, you're a pig, a greedy f-----g pig, you're an abomination, you receive my bullets in your office, remember they will be placed in your heads."
Conveniently omitted from the story, of course, is the fact he's an Obama donor and self-proclaimed Muslim. Probably just an oversight during the many arduous layers of editorial fact-checking, vetting and oversight. Maybe he's just part of the really angry left.
