Unlike his previous statements, the Cairo speech didn't include the threat of any action -- not even further sanctions -- against the Islamic Republic. The message was clear: America was distancing itself from United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Obama also abandoned President Bush's freedom agenda in support of Middle East democratic movements, saying: "No system of government can or should be imposed on one nation by another."

Of course, America didn't "impose" any system of government on Afghanistan or Iraq. All it did was to remove impediments to democracy in those countries. A majority of Afghans and Iraqis, and perhaps even "Muslims around the world," don't regret the demise of Mullah Omar, a fanatical cleric, or Saddam Hussein, a brutal secular despot.

Obama said he was seeking "a new beginning between the US and Muslims around the world" -- implying that "Muslims around the world" (including Muslim Americans) represent a monolithic bloc, as Osama bin Laden and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad claim.

Is the president unaware that there are 57 countries with Muslim majorities and a further 60 countries where Muslims represent substantial minorities? Trying to press almost a quarter of humanity into a single ghetto based on religious apartheid is the fruit of either woeful ignorance or dangerous provocation.

Obama's mea culpa vis-à-vis Islam extended beyond the short span of US history. He appropriated the guilt for the Crusades, Western colonialism and support for despotic regimes during the Cold War, and countered that with a flattering narrative about Islam's role in history, featuring outlandish claims that would astonish many Muslims.

The dude is so disingenuous it's difficult to know where to begin.

Islam is an important part of promoting peace? Then why are Islamists murdering people around the globe on a daily basis?

"Islam is not part of the problem in combatting violent extremism — it is an important part of promoting peace," he said.

The location of today's speech is noteworthy.

The university's alumni are among the Arab world's most famous — and notorious. They include the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and Nobel Prize-winning author Naguib Mahfuz. Saddam Hussein studied law in the '60s but did not graduate. And al-Qaida second-in-command Ayman al-Zawahri earned a medical degree.

Coming off his audacious pick of the favored Steelers in the Super Bowl and the groundbreaking selection of North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament, our fearless leader again taker a great leap forward by gambling his sports cred on the heavily favored Los Angeles Lakers to defeat the Orlando Magic in the NBA Finals.

Nothing like going out on a limb.

"The Lakers in six, I think," he said.

Of course if the Lakers do win in six we'll never hear the end of it. They're still babbling about his NCAA picks on ESPN, three months later.

White House Whines: OBL Distracting Our 'Historic' Pandering

Geez, what a bunch of babies.

The White House said Wednesday that Al-Qaeda was trying to distract the Muslim world from President Barack Obama's "historic" outreach effort, with the release of a new Osama bin Laden tape

Of all people, they should know what propaganda is all about.

They have a slavishly devoted press corps literally bowing before him, and they're worried people will be distracted?

And can their ego get any larger, proclaiming an as-yet undelivered speech as historic?

What would be historic is if Obama could give a speech without aid of a TelePrompter.

Obama Economy Loses Another 532,000 Jobs

I wonder how our president with Muslim roots is going to figure out how we saved jobs with this latest report?

The U.S. economy's recovery may have stalled after data on Wednesday showed half a million private sector jobs were lost in May and mortgage applications fell last week as rising interest rates frightened away buyers.

One ray of hope though came from another report showing planned layoffs at U.S. firms fell for a fourth consecutive month in May, reaching the lowest level in eight months.

The data adds to the policy dilemma facing the Federal Reserve, which has committed trillions of dollars of financial resources to keep interest rates low as it tries to end the worst recession in decades.

The Mortgage Bankers Association said its seasonally adjusted index of mortgage applications, which includes both purchase and refinance loans, for the week ended May 29 decreased 16.2 percent to 658.7.

Meanwhile, U.S. companies axed 532,000 jobs last month, more than economists had expected, according to a report by ADP Employer Services.

Worse yet, April's figures were revised to show more cuts than previously estimated, highlighting the ongoing deterioration in an economy that may have difficulty living up to expectations that it will resume growth in the second half of the year.

Shocka! Obama 'Picture Perfect' Marriage Wasn't Always So

Most would call it a marriage of convenience. Of course the media would like you to believe these two are passionately in love.

Sure.

Barack and Michelle Obama may look like the picture of wedded bliss, especially when they jet off to New York for a date night, but it wasn't always so for the First Couple.

In the new book "Renegade," about Obama's barrier-breaking run for the presidency, author Richard Wolffe recounts a stretch in 2000 when the Obama's marriage was a lot frostier than it appears today.

"There was little conversation and even less romance," Wolffe, who covered Obama's campaign for Newsweek magazine, wrote of that period. "She was angry at his selfishness and careerism; he thought she was cold and ungrateful."

At the time, Obama was a young state senator who had decided to run a Democratic primary against incumbent Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Chicago) - a contest Obama lost by a dismal 2-1 margin. Michelle was a new mom with two-year-old Malia at home and Sasha, born in June 2001, not far off.

"She hated the failed race for Congress in 2000, and their marriage was strained by the time their youngest daughter, Sasha, was born," Wolffe wrote. "Politics seemed like a waste of time to Michelle."

More Good News: Sensitive Nuke Info Mysteriously Posted on Web

Oh well, these screw-ups happen.

The federal government mistakenly made public a 266-page report, its pages marked “highly confidential,” that gives detailed information about hundreds of the nation’s civilian nuclear sites and programs, including maps showing the precise locations of stockpiles of fuel for nuclear weapons.

The publication of the document was revealed Monday in an online newsletter devoted to issues of federal secrecy. That set off a debate among nuclear experts about what dangers, if any, the disclosures posed. It also prompted a flurry of investigations in Washington into why the document had been made public.

On Tuesday evening, after inquiries from The New York Times, the document was withdrawn from a Government Printing Office Web site.

Several nuclear experts argued that any dangers from the disclosure were minimal, given that the general outlines of the most sensitive information were already known publicly.

“These screw-ups happen,” said John M. Deutch, a former director of central intelligence and deputy secretary of defense who is now a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. “It’s going further than I would have gone but doesn’t look like a serious breach.”

But David Albright, president of the Institute for Science and International Security, a private group in Washington that tracks nuclear proliferation, said information that shows where nuclear fuels are stored “can provide thieves or terrorists inside information that can help them seize the material, which is why that kind of data is not given out.”

The information, considered confidential but not classified, was assembled for transmission later this year to the International Atomic Energy Agency as part of a process by which the United States is opening itself up to stricter inspections in hopes that foreign countries, especially Iran and others believed to be clandestinely developing nuclear arms, will do likewise.

President Obama sent the document to Congress on May 5 for Congressional review and possible revision, and the Government Printing Office subsequently posted the draft declaration on its Web site.

As of Tuesday evening, the reasons for that action remained a mystery.

I blame Hussein Obama. So now Obama says there's nothing we can do to prevent Iran from getting nukes and our sensitive information is mysteriously out there for all the world to see.

Good News: President With 'Muslim Roots' Declares America a Muslim Country

Nothing like completely letting loose with where you're coming from. A day after "revealing" his Muslim roots, President Barack Hussein Obama now claims America can be seen as a Muslim country.

Hey, what about the separation of mosque and state?

In an interview with Laura Haim on Canal Plus, a French television station, Mr. Obama noted that the United States also could be considered as “one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.” He sought to downplay the expectations of the speech, but he said he hoped the address would raise awareness about Muslims.

“And one of the points I want to make is, is that if you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world,” Mr. Obama said. “And so there’s got to be a better dialogue and a better understanding between the two peoples.”

So he wants dialogue with Muslims, but as for Republicans, they can forget it.

Of course, Roger L. Simon points out an inconvenient truth for President Hussein.

I guess it depends on what your definition of “one of” is. According to Wikipedia, the US ranks thirty-eighth with a Muslim population of some 4.5 million (about one and half percent of our population). Indonesia is first at over two hundred and seven million.

Our leader goes on to remonstrate with our citizenry about educating ourselves about Islam, which is, in his words, a religion that has always “evolved along with progress.” I suppose that’s true if you disregard women’s rights, gay rights and the basic democratic need for the primacy of state law for all citizens, not to mention a host of other values we could group under the rubric of the Enlightenment. The problem with Obama’s implication that we are not educated about Islam is that he is dead wrong. Many of us now are - by necessity. We know the difference between Medina and Mecca Korans (and their views of jihad), between Sunni and Shiite and so forth. We also know what dhimmi law is… and taqqiya.

Now I suppose if the GOP uses Hussein's words against him it will be what, hate speech? Anti-Muslim bigotry? Let me also see if I get this straight. Although we're an 85% Christian nation, if someone has the temerity to call this a Christian nation they're roundly condemned and excoriated by the secular left. Hussein calls this a Muslim country and trust me, you won't hear a peep from the left. They'll just ridicule us for being paranoid.

Is it any wonder why President Hussein hasn't condemned the Muslim killer of the Army recruiter?

Cost-Conscious Obama Bringing Entourage of 500 With Him to Europe

Just imagine if George W. Bush did something like this during a recession. We'd never hear the end of it.

But he's King Obama, so nobody in the White House press corps will say a word. In fact, you have to get this news from Europe.

More than 500 officials and staff will accompany the president on his tour this week - along with a mass of high-tech security equipment, including the $300,000 presidential limousine, known as The Beast. Fitted with night-vision camera, reinforced steel plating, tear- gas cannon and oxygen tanks, the vehicle is the ultimate in heavy armoured transport.

In addition, a team from the White House kitchen will travel with the president to prepare his food. As one official put it: "When the president travels, the White House travels with him, right down to the car he drives, the water he drinks, the gasoline he uses, the food he eats. America is still the sole superpower and the president must have the ability to handle any crisis, anywhere, any time."

Lord knows what the tab will be for such extravagance.

Let's hope he at least doesn't humiliate us again by giving out DVD sets to his hosts that don't work.

'John McCain! Not Hussein!'

Don't these rubes know only Democrats are allowed to come up with rhymes for chants? Naturally, this horrifies the delicate sensibilities of the New York Times.

Senator Barack Obama’s middle name is Hussein, a fact that some of his opponents say proves that he is a Muslim. Mr. Obama is, in fact, a Christian.

After the rally in Florida ended, two of the people leading the chant explained why they did so.

“Because it rhymes,” said Shirley Mitten, 64, a volunteer at a pregnancy center and a resident of Brooksville, Fla.

She said she does not know if Mr. Obama is a Muslim. “He says he’s not, but we have no way of knowing,” Ms. Mitten said.

Her husband, John A. Mitten, 64, took credit for starting the chant. “I was trying to get it going!” he said. “I just do not want Obama to be elected.”

Mr. Mitten said he could not trust Mr. Obama because of his past association with William Ayers, the 1960’s radical, and because of his relationship with the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. He also pointed out that Mr. Obama’s father was a Muslim.

The middle name Hussein, he said, added to the suspicion. “I guess Obama was named after Saddam Hussein,” he said.

Obviously, the Times reporter is unable to grasp an attempt at humor.

The comments after the story are even dumber.

Naturally, this "reporter" didn't find anything newsworthy about Palin's speech, only what a couple of old folks had to say.
