Crazy Uncle Excluded From Debate, Meltdown Ensues

The Paul nuts aren't happy and see conspiracies around every corner.

Jesse Benton, Paul's spokesman, said it was a "big mistake" not to include Paul, especially given Paul's recent success in fundraising. He said the campaign has been trying to reach Fox News to get an explanation for the decision, but its calls had not been returned.

"There very well might be some bias," Benton said. "Ron brings up some topics that aren't very popular with Fox News, as in fiscal responsibility and withdrawing from the war in Iraq ... that does leave us scratching our heads a little bit about whether it was deliberate. Based on metrics, I don't see how you can possibly exclude Dr. Paul."

Some livid Paul supporters are distributing e-mails calling for a boycott of Fox advertisers.

A Fox representative did not immediately return calls for comment about the complaints.

Paul has been invited to a GOP forum that Fox News is sponsoring in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on January 10, Benton said.

The Paulians even have sample letters for the illiterates to send out.

The supporters of Ron Paul are peaceful, non-violent, and law abiding. They desire to live peacefully with their fellow man and respect the rights of others. Funny, but I don't see Duncan Hunter supporters acting like children over him being excluded.

Not that too many in the Mass Market Media have actually noticed. It really is starting to be a presidential campaign more about who the media elite want to be president then it is who is actually running. I think the media, so enamored with celebrities, wants to have a president who is more celebrity then substance, after all it works out so well for the Hollywood crowd. Still doesn't explain why they give short shift to Fred. I thought he was one of them, well except for that conservative thing I mean.

Is Duncan Hunter the MSM biggest nightmare?

Duncan Hunter, a candidate for president on the Republican ticket, is probably the one person who best embodies the conservative values championed by Ronald Reagan, but why haven't you heard of him? My theory is just like how the Mass Market Media covers scandals involving Dems by burying the party affiliation, they are also running a campaign of silence in regards to Mr Hunter and instead promoting the candidate they feel whoever the Dems nominate can beat. If the liberals and media did not feel so threatened by this man why don't they at least give him as much attention as they do the other so called second tier candidates? Alan Keyes got more coverage from the recent debate in Iowa then Hunter did.
In my mind the only two true candidates worthy of consideration in the Republican race are Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson. Neither have the money, and while one manages to get an Honorable Mention every once in awhile in the news, the other is more stealthy then our military in Iraq who have also disappeared.
So Duncan has made an appeal to the blogosphere and I am glad to assist.

Duncan Hunter: The Other Guy Running For President

Because the mass market media can't seem to trouble themselves with all of the candidates I felt it necessary to highlight some of things Mr Hunter has been up to in the last couple of days. Maybe it is just that the supposed national media just can't keep up with Mr Hunter, but I think he is someone who now deserves attention.

Full disclosure: I do lean more towards Fred Thompson more then anybody but I believe this guy deserves some attention and may best embody the conservvative standards that people say are missing from the other candidates.

Article talking about Duncan Hunter while he was head of the House Armed Service Committee. Nice story about him getting a phone call from his son who fighting in Fallujah wanting to know where the orders to stop were coming from.

“I don’t care about leaving a legacy,” the California Republican said in an interview. “‘You do the best you can for the country every day’ — that’s my motto.”

And he makes a campaign stop in WY to speak about the loss of manufacturing jobs in America. This I believe is an issue that deserves more prominence then it is given. We need to bring back our manufacturing base.

He said in 2005, 155,000 non-Mexicans were caught illegally entering the United States from Mexico.

In fact, Hunter said he got a fence erected separating Tijuana, Mexico, from California. He said the fence reduced crime 53 percent in San Diego.

And at a stop in SC where he discusses healthcare/insurance issues.

“The first thing we should do is really simple,” he said. “We should allow you to buy insurance across state lines if you want to. The same policy that costs $70 a month in California costs $300 a month in New Jersey. If you could buy over state lines, you could get much better deals. We live in a time where you can go online and buy almost anything -- except insurance. If you could open that up, it would bring down the cost of health care.”
Hunter also said some families should only need “catastrophic” health insurance with the return of the “family doctor.”

“Why should you have to have an insurance company for a $50 doctor visit any more than for $70 worth of groceries?” Hunter asked. “A doctor wants a simple practice with patients, not paperwork. I don’t think everyone needs insurance. This country has been intimidated by those people who are pressing to socialize our country. How many people do you know who have had their homes taken by the hospital?”

Is Duncan Hunter the Republicans' last Hope

So Huckabee, former governor of AR running on the Republican ticket for president, doesn't like being considered the front runner in the polls in Iowa. Why is that? Is it because people start taking a close look at you now? This election cycle has not been so much about candidates rising in the polls as it has been candidates falling in the polls. This has been a season, for both parties, where the majority of the voters are simply not happy with their choices. So as someone moves to the fore front somebody finally gets off their duff and checks them out, and in todays age of 24 hour news channels, and the internet news spreads fast. One thing I have realised is that far more people read articles on the internet then comment on them, so even items on obscure web sites or blogs have the potential to leap to prominence.
For instance buried in this Washington Post article cited here is this nugget.

Doesn't sound like he will very tough on the terrorists now does it? At one time I thought Huck might be my man but in the last couple of weeks he has really shown his weaknesses. I am still holding onto Fred Thompson and I would like to learn more about Duncan Hunter. They may be the last chance of finding a conservative in this field of what appears to be RINO's (Republican In Name Only)

Hunter Wins Texas Straw Poll, Paul Kooks Defiant in Defeat

It seems the silly behavior by the Ron Paul nuts didn't quite pay off as they'd expected.

They're now free to enter a mental health facility of their choice.

Hunter wins Texas' first-ever GOP Straw Poll

Republican presidential hopeful Duncan Hunter, a California congressman known for being tough on illegal immigrants, landed a surprise win in the state’s first-ever straw poll Saturday.

Hunter, a chief proponent in Congress of building a security fence across the length of the U.S.-Mexico border, had 41.1 percent of the votes cast. Finishing second with 20.5 percent was candidate-in-waiting Fred Thompson, who is expected to formally launch his campaign next week, and third with 16.7 percent was the only Texan in the race, Rep. Ron Paul, R-Surfside.

Over the past two days, Hunter worked aggressively to win the poll, pursuing delegates, shaking hands, signing autographs, talking issues – even serving meat to delegates during a Friday night GOP banquet.

Paul supporters had big hopes for a victory on Saturday after they brought in delegates by bus, threw parties and held a rally and a parade. But they were thwarted by many delegates’ clear displeasure with Paul’s vehement opposition to the Iraq war.

Shocking isn't it, that taking a position anathema to most Republicans would cost the fringe candidate votes.

Hundreds of Paul supporters – who made themselves a visible presence around downtown throughout the two-day event – loudly cheered during Paul’s stump speech Saturday morning. They held up “Ron Paul” signs and passed out campaign literature and stickers to delegates throughout the day.

Paul, who arrived in Fort Worth Friday night in time to give a speech at his rally, left the straw poll before the results were announced.

Paul supporters said they were let down by the results.

“We knew it would be a hard run with Duncan Hunter on the ground (in Texas) for two weeks,” said Jeremy Blosser, of Arlington, a Paul grassroots supporter. “He was making a hard push because he doesn’t have much left in him.”

Several noted that Paul had more supporters at the poll but most were not eligible to vote because the Republican Party of Texas only allowed those who had been delegates in recent years to a state or national convention to actually cast ballots.

So Hunter beats their brains in on their own turf, and the Paul nuts are still talking smack.

The Ron Paul Traveling Sideshow surfaced in Fort Worth, full of bluster and bravado, and in desperate search for more pyrrhic victories.

Paul backers make their presence known

FORT WORTH -- Rep. Ron Paul wasn't there for most of the first day of the Republican straw poll Friday, but his presence was felt everywhere.

In the "Ron Paul" placards people carried throughout downtown.

In the T-shirt likeness of him that supporters wore around the Fort Worth Convention Center.

In the signs posted in front of the convention center, on vehicles parked there and on some downtown businesses such as Four Star Coffee Bar.

Paul, of Surfside, didn't make it into Fort Worth until his night rally downtown. Nonetheless, he was a candidate who was impossible to ignore.

"We're going to surround the area as more people come," said Paul supporter Christopher Laskoski of Fort Worth. "You will see more ground support for Ron Paul than any other candidate."

Once they surround the area, will they allow sane people to leave?

"While we may not win the actual straw poll vote, we want to outnumber any of the other candidates' support to show that he has a strong chance in the actual primary, where all of the people in attendance will be able to vote," volunteer Clayton Slade of Richardson said.

Brimming with optimism, I see.

The lunatics aren't satisfied with just promoting their own guy, they're also endearing themselves to the other candidates.

In the afternoon, about 30 supporters crashed a rally that Rep. Duncan Hunter, a presidential hopeful from California, held outside the Water Gardens. As Hunter spoke to 50 Republicans about supporting the troops, Paul supporters stood just feet away, holding up Ron Paul signs.

"We're not necessarily against Duncan Hunter. We're just here to support Ron Paul," said Robert Brushaber of Austin.

Obama More Liberal Than Kucinich

This probably makes him the leading moderate with the base of the party.

WASHINGTON - The most liberal member of Congress running for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination isn't Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio.

It's Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois.

And the Republican candidate who's grown less conservative over his years in Congress? Sen. John McCain of Arizona.

Those are among the interesting findings in a recent analysis of votes by all the members of Congress who are running for president. They cut to the heart of debates going on among activists in both major parties: Can a liberal Democrat win a general election? Which Republican is ideologically pure enough to win support from conservatives?

What about the GOP?

The most conservative member of Congress seeking the Republican nomination - based on lifetime voting records - is Rep. Duncan Hunter of California, with a score of 82.5. The most conservative score possible was 99.

Hunter isn't registering much support again the more well-known names, but I certainly could live with him as President. Obama? I don't think so.

The bad news on the Doubtetalk Express today?

McCain got a 46 for social issues - left of center - and more conservative grades for economic and foreign policy issues.
