This morning Jane Harman (D-CA) and member of the Homeland Security Committee appeared on Fox and Friends and was interviewed by Gretchen Carlson. Rep Harman has crossed paths with Nancy Pelosi on a couple of occasions, but never forget she a Democrat and liberal through and through.
While listening to this interview the first thing that jumped out at me was how she repeated the assertions that Gitmo was being used as a recruiting tool by Al-Queda. Yeah and before that it was Abu Grabass and after Gitmo is a distant memory it will be the prison at Bagram. What they fail to answer is what is it that Al-Queda used as a recruitment tool prior to any of those places being in existence.
When questioned about plans to have a prison opened in Illinois to transfer the Gitmo guests to and the fact that the people of IL weren't real thrilled with the idea, her response was to say that the move to IL was welcomed by the government officials.
Yup, thats right. People be damned, some government official has given his stamp of approval and gosh darn it that is the end of that.
She wraps it up by talking about 200 terrorists or wannabe terrorists are currently in our federal prison system while only 3 have had their cases finalized through the military tribunal system. That is because so many people from her side of the aisle were sympathetic to their cause that they managed to delay and block the prosecution of these prisoners, who were all captured on foreign soil, which is another big distinction to make.
None of the current terrorists in federal prison were captured in foreign lands, they were all caught here and only after they had either carried out an attack or had that attack fail allowing for their capture.
Oh yeah, she takes the obligatory swipe at former president Bush.
A president who responds quicker to a child being hurt while on his vacation then he does a failed terrorist attack on Christmas Day aboard an airliner, who gives shout outs to folks in the audience before addressing the terrorist attack at Ft Hood, the head of our terrorism unit who couldn't be pulled away from the ski slopes to respond to this most recent attack, the head of DHS who proclaimed that the system worked, and all of the Democrat sympathizers in Congress who only want to give these guys three hots and a cot while not hurting their feelings certainly forebodes some dark times ahead for Americans.
Jane is worried about "winning the argument against these terrorists". To people like her this whole thing is nothing more then some sort of high stakes debate. I suggest that if she wants to debate these guys, our guys in Afghanistan can arrange a meeting so that she can put forth her arguments. I am sure her reasoned and well thought out talking points will win them over in no time.
If they can understand her through the head to toe bag they put her in.

Your Three Minute Sarah Palin Fix
Since Jammie likes to post about scowling liberal women I thought I would bring you a few minutes of Sarah Palin. This is from an interview conducted by Gretchen Carlson, beauty queen from MN and co host of Fox and Friends, that was done down in Florida at her book signing.
This is Sarah being Sarah, but there are plenty of smiles and enough upbeat attitude to make you like the woman on a personal level. Will she ever be able to gain ground in the political arena again? Only time will tell, but this is where having Barry O as a president will hurt her. Americans have seen what happens when you elect an American Idol candidate. We all wind up living on Survivor Island, so I don't think having a gregarious and photogenic persona is going to be good enough in the future.
Anyway I enjoyed the part about her changing a diaper just before debating Joe Biden. Little did she know she should have brought her diaper bag on stage with her for Joe.

Why Garofalo's Comments Are Dangerous
So Janeane Garofalo once again went on the show "Real Time" with Bill Maher on HBO and continued her insane assertions that the people who have filled the street at venues all across this country this summer at events known as Tea Parties are nothing more then Klan members without the hoods.
Sure, nobody watches that show and most people could care less what Garofalo has to say, but there is a segment in this country that does listen, and that is what makes her comments, and those of others who spew the racism crap, dangerous.
The disaffected African-American youth in this country who are looking for any sort of reason to justify their anti-social behavior will latch onto such screeds as a defense. We have already allowed people in this country to blame their condition in life, that they find themselves in, on everything but themselves. It is always some sort of external force that is to blame for not achieving everything they hoped to achieve, or in what has become an overused word--fair.
If people were paying attention they would notice that the high achievers in our society almost never come out and say the reason they got to where they at is because somebody gave it to them. If success comes from hard work, a willingness to put in the extra hours, maybe taking a risk or two, and always working to improve their skills then what do people who don't rise to such lofty heights attribute their lack of success to? Listen to the people who feel they have been left behind and they will almost never cite any of those success factors as a reason of their lack of success. They blame mommy and daddy, the red haired girl in second grade or not getting the winning lottery ticket.
Most of us have indeed worked hard, suffered some setbacks or obstacles, but it is our response to the hardships that determine what we achieve.
When Garofalo gets on TV and starts spouting her racist crap it gives those who feel that their condition in life is not due to anything they have done, but to another group that is the formula for trouble.
My question for the African-American community is the one I have always had. Why is it that every other group of immigrants who come to this country, including those from Africa but not born in this country, manage to achieve the American dream and seem able to made life better for each succeeding generation but you can't?
Garofalo of course uses the new snarky word that the loony liberals have fallen in love with, to label the Tea Party attendees, one which most Tea Party attendees had no idea what it meant and needed the deviants on the left explain to the rest of the world. The fact that liberals knew what that word meant without looking it up says more about them then it does the people they are trying to smear.
Garofalo may be trying to shut up the people opposed to the massive government takeover that is being attempted in this country by shaming the people speaking out, but playing the race card has all but lost any sort of power it may have had from being overused. Instead, her comments will be used by those on the other side to justify any actions they take against the racists they see in their midst, and then will Garofalo step up and accept responsibility for stoking the flames? The left is very quick to blame every unsolved homicide in this country on right wing radio or Fox News, but what will happen if the actions start happening to the very people she is working so hard to demonize? She is after all giving them an excuse to attack citizens who attend a tea party, but I am not so sure the Garofalo defense will go too far in a court of law.
I wonder what her position is on raping 13-year-old girls or having threesomes with 15-year-olds is.
I am hoping some intrepid Internet maven will find a video clip of Garefalo's appearance and if I find one I will post it. I saw sections of her appearance on Fox and Friends this morning.
UPDATE: Found the video courtesy of Newsbusters. Hmmm, I wonder why she left out the 9/11 Troofers in her criticism?
Linked at Instapundit and Big Hollywood. Thanks!

Carrie Prejean Guest Hosts Fox & Friends
A Fox News natural, if you ask me. Needless to say, she looks phenomenal.
Poor Kilmeade. It looks like his head's going to explode when she touches his hair around the 2:00 mark.
Here's more video. Those Fox folks know how to work it: Get her up on the stool showing the legs.

Fox Deep Fries Obama's Budget
I saw this this weekend between the power outages we were experiencing down here during the snow storm and kept hoping Fox would put the video out on the web. Well apparently they chickened out. They have put out the video showing all of the other stuff they deep fried but didn't show the portion where Clayton Morris batter dips and fries the budget. Instant classic.
Here is a You Tube video captured from somebody's television.
Enjoy!

Clinton's answer to terrorists? FEMA
Hillary Clinton was on Fox and Friends this morning, which is either a miracle of the season or just another sign of how desperate her campaign has gotten and while they were gentle, least they scare her off, there was one particular exchange that got my attention.
The question was what would you do in the war to combat global terrorism?
She started her answer by making a couple of statements obviously designed to give her time to form an answer and when it came I was left incredulous. She would clean up FEMA. Yup that's right. The answer to global terrorism to revamp FEMA. This is wrong on so many counts.
First it indicates that rather then being to proactive to prevent an attack you wants to make sure she has the ability to respond to an attack. So sorry for those who are injured or killed in an attack but rest assured she will have a first rate group ready to respond and try to put back the pieces of your shattered lives.
She, just like all of the other Dems believe that these Islamic extremists are nothing more then imaginary boogey men hiding under a child's bed. That the proper approach is to reassure the child that nothing is there and hold there hand until they fall back to sleep. I never went to bed in fear of boogey men strapped with 25 pounds of explosives laying under my bed.
When asked about her number one priority the answer was the predictable healthcare. makes sense since she doesn't consider too much of the war on terrorists so she had better have a good healthcare plan and FEMA organization.
Well for those that survive it that is.
I will leave it up to the guys at Hot Air or somewhere else to pull the video since I don't have the ability, but I encourage folks to look for the footage or transcript of this exchange on Fox Friends this morning and not just take my word for it.
