Obama Not Treating Terrorism as a Legal Matter, Either

The Justice Department, in a vain attempt to rebut the criticism leveled at them by Republicans--most notably the Cheneys--have published a chart showing 403 cases being prosecuted or that have been prosecuted involving terrorism-related charges.

Just one thing, though. While perusing the database, because that's what I do, I noticed something strange. There are either far fewer folks trying to kill us or else the Justice Department has really slacked off pursuing the bad guys. This became apparent when looking at the arrest date and noticing that they dropped off precipitously starting in 2008. In fact, since the election of Barry O, who we know is sympathetic to bombers, there have been only seven arrests.

I guess the Dems are right to be outraged by the criticism that they are treating terrorism as a law enforcement matter, since according to the Justice Department's own figures it is obvious they don't. I don't think it is because the followers of the Religion of Peace™ are any less fervent in their desire to destroy western civilization.

Another interesting tidbit is that while Lynne Stewart, the terrorist enabling leftist lawyer, is on the list, the Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hassan is not.

'Let's Continue The Success of the Previous Adminstration'

Did I hear that correctly? Right at the end of this part of an interview of Joe Biden by Larry King did Biden say the current administration wishes to continue to have the success that the previous administration had on their efforts against terrorists?

Joe, Joe, Joe. Didn't you get the memo? All these problems are inherited and nothing done during the previous eight years is worthy of note or praise. They are going to send you to that undisclosed location again.

He does assert that another 9/11-style attack is unlikely, but I hope they don't think for one minute that some radicalized nutjob isn't out there plotting and planning it. There are plenty of Islamic jihadists who fancy themselves the next UBL, and while it is the suicide bombers who do the damage, it is the men behind them who warp their thinking and convince people to commit these acts of barbarism that are the threat.

People like the moderate imam who has figured in so many recent events like the Ft. Hood jihad attack and the attempted bombing of an airplane on Christmas day.

The guys with the bombs we have had pretty good success against. It is the guys who foster their actions that scare me and, quite frankly, I don't want to talk about prosecuting them or reading them their Miranda rights. I would rather they endure about 30 days of good old Medieval Inquisition-style torture and then be taken out back and shot.

But that's just me, and I tend to be a softy sometimes.

Terrorist Bomber Turned College Instructor Arrested

No, not Bill Ayers. He's busy reveling in his celebrity and hitting the interview circuit.

This terrorist was nabbed in Canada for a synagouge bombing in France back in 1980.

How is it these radicals seems to wind up in academia?
An Ottawa university instructor has been arrested for the infamous terrorist bombing of a Paris synagogue in 1980 that killed four people, injured scores of others and put synagogues around the world on a tough new security footing.

Hassan Diab, 54, was arrested by the RCMP at Gatineau residence Thursday morning as he was getting dressed, and placed in custody at the RCMP's A division on McArthur Road, said his lawyer, René Duval. He is to appear in an Ottawa court on Friday.

The RCMP would not confirm the identity of the person they arrested, but a justice department official confirmed it to be Mr. Diab.

Two French judges reportedly issued an international arrest warrant against Mr. Diab earlier this month, believed to be the first such international warrant for terrorism ever executed in Canada.

The Oct. 3, 1980, bombing of central Paris' Copernic Road synagogue was triggered by high explosives planted in the saddlebags of a parked motorcycle outside the building. The blast killed three Frenchmen and a young Israeli woman. Hundreds of worshippers gathered inside the synagogue for a Sabbath service were to emerge minutes later. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-Special Operations was blamed.

As one of the first contemporary terrorist strikes on a synagogue outside the Middle East, the blast trigged the fortification of Jewish community sites across Europe and North America.

France's Le Figaro newspaper, quoting unnamed sources, reported last fall that French authorities suspect Mr. Diab was the leader of the small commando team responsible for the attack and had asked Canada for assistance with their investigation.

University of Nebraska Claims a Blogger Threatened William Ayers

We noted last week the University of Nebraska had come to their senses and canceled an appearance by Barack Obama's terrorist pal William Ayers, and now they're claiming Ayers was threatened by an unidentified blogger.
A threat assessment expert says some people furious over the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's invitation to former radical William Ayers threatened protests and made veiled threats to kill him.

Professor Mario Scalora says in a memo released by the university Wednesday that there would be "hell to pay" if Ayers' scheduled appearance on Nov. 15 wasn't canceled.

One blogger said: "I wonder what kind of flag (Ayers) wants on his coffin."

Ayers helped found the Vietnam-era radical group the Weathermen, and he's now an education professor at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Ayers' ties to Barack Obama have been featured in Republican attacks.
Nowhere can I find this mystery blogger identified. This AP story is being disseminated around the globe and they fail to note who allegedly made this threat. Wouldn't that be of some relevance to the story?

If anyone can find a link to this "blogger" please let me know. A search for variations on that quote turn up nothing but that AP item. For all we know it was a comment left on a blog somewhere.

In Memory of 9/11, NY Times Reveals More National Security Secrets

Way to observe a somber anniversary, folks. Thanks for tipping off the bad guys.
President Bush secretly approved orders in July that for the first time allow American Special Operations forces to carry out ground assaults inside Pakistan without the prior approval of the Pakistani government, according to senior American officials.

The classified orders signal a watershed for the Bush administration after nearly seven years of trying to work with Pakistan to combat the Taliban and Al Qaeda, and after months of high-level stalemate about how to challenge the militants’ increasingly secure base in Pakistan’s tribal areas.

American officials say that they will notify Pakistan when they conduct limited ground attacks like the Special Operations raid last Wednesday in a Pakistani village near the Afghanistan border, but that they will not ask for its permission.

“The situation in the tribal areas is not tolerable,” said a senior American official who, like others interviewed for this article, spoke on condition of anonymity because of the delicate nature of the missions. “We have to be more assertive. Orders have been issued.”

The new orders reflect concern about safe havens for Al Qaeda and the Taliban inside Pakistan, as well as an American view that Pakistan lacks the will and ability to combat militants. They also illustrate lingering distrust of the Pakistani military and intelligence agencies and a belief that some American operations had been compromised once Pakistanis were advised of the details.
May as well just cancel it all now since our good friends at the old grey hag have divulged the secrets.

Question: How long until Barack Obama takes credit for this? I give it a day.

Probing the 'Roots' of Terror: Start With Islam and Go From There

Here we go, searching for the root causes of terrorism.

To think, people will take this clown seriously.
Underlining that terrorism has no religion, a Muslim leader Wednesday argued for a more in-depth investigation into the reasons that turn an ordinary man into a terrorist.

'Security agencies declare so and so individual as terrorist but we never come to know their basic reasons that make them resort to violence, if its true,' Sirajuddin Qureshi, president of the India Islamic Cultural Centre (IIIC) here, told reporters.

He said a person usually turned to terrorism due to a certain sense of injustice and deprivation. 'Either he has seen his mother or sister being raped; brother or father being killed, or he has been kept out of society,' Qureshi said.

Such a person has revenge on top of his mind and looks at everyone as an enemy, he said, stressing: 'We need to know why they become terrorists.
Uh, maybe a twisted interpretation of the Koran?
We read in media that innocent Muslims are being picked up after a terrorist attack. This body should inquire into these cases,' Qureshi said, deploring that most people caught up in the security net usually turn out to be innocent.

Obnoxious Nanny-Stater: Global Warming = Terrorism

Yes, he's ready for the presidential stage.

Good grief, he's sounding more like Algore by the day.
While he acknowledged that scientists are unable to predict its consequences, Mayor Bloomberg yesterday compared the scourge of global warming to the threat of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Although it is a "long-term" fight, he said, reducing gas emissions may save the life of "everybody" on the planet, the same way that fighting terrorism and its proliferation saves lives in shorter terms.

Addressing a U.N. climate change conference, the mayor also announced a new plan to reduce the use of tropical hardwoods by New York City and told delegates that the city plans to host a meeting in June of leaders from 20 major world cities to discuss ways for the largest municipalities to reduce global warming. Other participants in the conference called for a "war" against climate change, in which the United Nations would serve as a front-line combatant.
Why, I find that term war offensive and aggressive. Couldn't we call it something else? Maybe slapfight?
Mr. Bloomberg renewed his call, made first late last year, for taxing countries such as America that emit large amounts of carbons, which are believed to cause changes in the planet's climate. "So long as there's no penalty or cost involved in producing greenhouse gases, there will be no incentive" to meet targets set by international institutions, the mayor told the General Assembly. "For that reason, I believe the U.S. should enact a tax on carbon emissions.

"Terrorists kill people. Weapons of mass destruction have the potential to kill an enormous amount of people," Mr. Bloomberg told reporters after addressing the U.N. General Assembly, but "global warming in the long term has the potential to kill everybody."
There you have it folks, from the ultimate in nanny-state politicians. Forget the fact Islamic extremists want to wipe us all out.

It's junk science that we have to fear.

We've evolved from we have nothing to fear but fear itself to we have nothing to offer but fear itself.
Like smoking, Mr. Bloomberg said, these are preventable killers. "We should go after terrorists every place in this world, find them and kill them, plain and simple," he said. If weapons of mass destruction "get out of the hands of the countries that have them and get into the hands of terrorists, the potential is just mind-boggling," he added. And while global warming "is a much longer-term thing," he said, it "has all of the same potentials of destroying the planet that we live on. No scientist knows for sure what's going to happen, but you don't want to wait to find out."
Hot Air links. Thanks!

Another Debate Question for Mrs. Clinton

To my knowledge, Her Thighness has never been asked a single question in a presidential debate about this dubious stain on her husband's record.

Any hard-hitting journalist out there willing to bring up the FALN pardons?
On Aug. 7, 1999, the one-year anniversary of the U.S. African embassy bombings that killed 257 people and injured 5,000, President Bill Clinton reaffirmed his commitment to the victims of terrorism, vowing that he "will not rest until justice is done." Four days later, while Congress was on summer recess, the White House quietly issued a press release announcing that the president was granting clemency to 16 imprisoned members of FALN. What began as a simple paragraph on the AP wire exploded into a major controversy.

Mr. Clinton justified the clemencies by asserting that the sentences were disproportionate to the crimes. None of the petitioners, he stated, had been directly involved in crimes that caused bodily harm to anyone. "For me," the president concluded, "the question, therefore, was whether their continuing incarceration served any meaningful purpose."

His comments, including the astonishing claim that the FALN prisoners were being unfairly punished because of "guilt by association," were widely condemned as a concession to terrorists. Further, they were seen as an outrageous slap in the face of the victims and a bitter betrayal of the cops and federal law enforcement officers who had put their lives on the line to protect the public and who had invested years of their careers to put these people behind bars. The U.S. Sentencing Commission affirmed a pre-existing Justice Department assessment that the sentences, ranging from 30 to 90 years, were "in line with sentences imposed in other cases for similar terrorist activity."

The prisoners were convicted on a variety of charges that included conspiracy, sedition, violation of the Hobbes Act (extortion by force, violence or fear), armed robbery and illegal possession of weapons and explosives -- including large quantities of C-4 plastic explosive, dynamite and huge caches of ammunition. Mr. Clinton's action was opposed by the FBI, the Bureau of Prisons, the U.S. attorney offices that prosecuted the cases and the victims whose lives had been shattered. In contravention of standard procedures, none of these agencies, victims or families of victims were consulted or notified prior to the president's announcement.

"I know the chilling evidence that convicted the petitioners," wrote Deborah Devaney, one of the federal prosecutors who spent years on the cases. "The conspirators made every effort to murder and maim. . . . A few dedicated federal agents are the only people who stood in their way."
Yes, but these murderers were freed in order to help Mrs. Clinton win a Senate seat in New York.

Clinton's answer to terrorists? FEMA

Hillary Clinton was on Fox and Friends this morning, which is either a miracle of the season or just another sign of how desperate her campaign has gotten and while they were gentle, least they scare her off, there was one particular exchange that got my attention.

The question was what would you do in the war to combat global terrorism?

She started her answer by making a couple of statements obviously designed to give her time to form an answer and when it came I was left incredulous. She would clean up FEMA. Yup that's right. The answer to global terrorism to revamp FEMA. This is wrong on so many counts.

First it indicates that rather then being to proactive to prevent an attack you wants to make sure she has the ability to respond to an attack. So sorry for those who are injured or killed in an attack but rest assured she will have a first rate group ready to respond and try to put back the pieces of your shattered lives.
She, just like all of the other Dems believe that these Islamic extremists are nothing more then imaginary boogey men hiding under a child's bed. That the proper approach is to reassure the child that nothing is there and hold there hand until they fall back to sleep. I never went to bed in fear of boogey men strapped with 25 pounds of explosives laying under my bed.

When asked about her number one priority the answer was the predictable healthcare. makes sense since she doesn't consider too much of the war on terrorists so she had better have a good healthcare plan and FEMA organization.

Well for those that survive it that is.

I will leave it up to the guys at Hot Air or somewhere else to pull the video since I don't have the ability, but I encourage folks to look for the footage or transcript of this exchange on Fox Friends this morning and not just take my word for it.
