'Change Style – Don't Follow Your Leader'

Anything with Hitler images pretty much offends me, but I've got to figure his legions of fans on the left will dig it. In fact, dressed up all pretty in pink will probably have the gay Nazis at Media Matters wetting themselves and goosestepping with glee.
The 18ft high posters of the Nazi leader advertise a line of clothing for young people and adorn street corners and bus stops in Palermo, Sicily's biggest city.

The ads show the Fuhrer in a lurid pink uniform, with his swastika armband replaced with one bearing a bright red heart, above the slogan "Change Style – Don't Follow Your Leader".

Many local people say the advertising campaign is offensive and have called for the posters to be taken down.

A city councillor with the centre-Left Democratic Party, Rosario Filoramo, has protested to the mayor of Palermo.

"The use of an image of a person responsible for the worst chapters of the last century is offensive to our country's constitutional principles and to the sensitivities of citizens," he said.

A council official, Fabrizio Ferrandelli, said: "Having Hitler's face on a poster... cannot be passed off as an innocent advertising message. Seeing these posters in front of schools is an embarrassment." But the advertising agency which came up with the idea said critics of the campaign were over-reacting.

The Hitler poster was a tongue-in-cheek way of encouraging young people not to follow the crowd in their fashion choices.

"We have ridiculed Hitler in a way that invites young people to create their own style and not to be influenced by their peers," said the agency's Daniele Manno.
Maybe all the idiots out there wearing Che and Obama shirts can also take notice.

Aw, How Cute: It's Baby Hitler

A couple of years ago we noted the story of some knuckle-dragging clown in New Jersey who named his kid Hitler. Now some woman in Denmark decided it would be "artistic" to dress her kid up as the psychotic mass murderer. How special.
While most mothers dress their baby daughters in frilly dresses, a Danish-Norwegian artist dressed hers up as Baby Hitler.

Nina Maria Kleivan created a photo essay on evil doers, dolling her daughter up as despicable despots ranging from Adolf Hitler to Benito Mussolini.

"We all have evil within us. Even small children are evil towards each other," Kleivan told the Haaretz newspaper in Israel.

"Even my daughter could end up ruling Denmark with an iron fist," said Kleivan, whose daughter, Faustina, is now 11 years old.

The controversial photo-series, titled "Potency," has been exhibited in Denmark, Sweden, Italy and Germany.
Hitler isn't the only one in the series.
In the photo series, baby Faustina also portrays Joseph Stalin, Saddam Hussein, Ayatollah Khomeini, Chairman Mao Zedong, Idi Amin, Augusto Pinochet and Slobodan Milosevic.
It can't be long until some libs suggest she dress the kid up as Bush or Cheney.

More at Haaretz, including other photos. Kleivan's father was a captive of the Germans during World War II and she has a resentment toward the Germans, for obvious reasons, but I think this is a bit over the top.
Kleivan's art brims with references to World War II, often incorporating power and powerlessness, victims and culprits, innocence and guilt. Even so, none of her works have caused as much stir as this, and it's all because of one particular image.

"Nobody reacts to any picture other than the one of 'mini-Hitler'. Even though my generation doesn't speak out about the war, silently our cultural circle sees Hitler as evil incarnate."

But the reactions have been far from silent in Denmark, Sweden, Italy and Germany, where the exhibition has been shown. Especially when Kleivan's Jewish aunt stumbled across the exhibit in an art gallery in Sweden.

"Most of her family disappeared in the German camps, I felt so bad telling her it was my work, because she didn't know, and was sickened by it. But this is not a deliberate provocation, it calls for reflection. Even though comical, you're not supposed to only laugh at these pictures. You need to contemplate them, ponder where this evil comes from."
The left will probably be really upset to see her goofing on their hero Uncle Joe Stalin. The rest of the photos are in a slideshow at the Haaretz link.

Instapundit links. Thanks!

'Abortion is a Crime and Drawing Such a Parallel is Absolutely Justified'

Could you magine the meltdown the pro-abortion forces would have if this billboard popped up somewhere in America?
Polish anti-abortion activists have caused shock with a giant billboard poster depicting aborted fetuses and Adolf Hitler in a campaign timed to remind Poles of Nazi rule during World War Two.

"Abortion was introduced for Polish women by Hitler on March 9, 1943," reads the poster, referring to a law passed by the Nazi regime during its brutal six-year occupation of Poland.

Images of blood-red aborted fetuses are juxtaposed with Hitler's brooding face on the poster.

The anti-abortion group Pro said it was entirely legitimate to make a link between abortion and Nazi crimes.

"It is our duty to fight for the rights of murdered children," Mariusz Dzierzawski, a campaign organizer, told Reuters. "Abortion is a crime and drawing such a parallel is absolutely justified."

Separately, he told the Gazeta Wyborcza daily: "Hitler gave the right of abortion to women, including Poles, who were considered representatives of inferior races."

The poster campaign also coincides with International Women's Day on March 8, when feminists in Poland traditionally stage demonstrations to call for greater equality, including the right to an abortion.

The poster has so far only appeared in Poznan, western Poland, but Dzierzawski said Pro aimed to put it up in at least 30 other towns and cities across the country.

Abortion in staunchly Roman Catholic Poland is illegal except in a few cases. A recent survey showed more than two thirds of Poles are opposed to abortion, up slightly from 1998.

However, initial reaction to the poster was negative.

"Words fail me... Let's leave this topic to parents. They can explain the issue to their children more delicately," said Aneta

Springtime for Hitler ... In Iran

As the old saying goes, in the future everyone will be Hitler for 15 minutes. In today's installment, Hitler is being invoked in the Iranian elections by, of all people, mini-Hitler himself.
In the final hours of Iran's election campaign, the top pro-reform challenger to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad got a sharp warning yesterday that authorities would crush any attempt at a popular "revolution" for freedom, while the Holocaust-denying incumbent likened his foe to Hitler.

The threat by an official of the powerful Revolutionary Guard reflected the increasingly tense atmosphere surrounding tomorrow's up-for-grabs election. It also marked a sharp escalation by the ruling clerics against the youth-driven campaign of and its hopes of an underdog victory.
Only in Little Mahmoud's world can a Holocaust-denying freak call someone else Hitler. Hey, maybe if he wants to score some points with Western elites he should call his opponent Rush Limbaugh. Heck, MSNBC would probably kvell with delight.
Even after the official end of campaigning at midnight, tens of thousands of Mousavi supporters remained in the streets, dancing on cars and waving green flags.

The lingering images from the campaign's final hours summed up the intensity of the past weeks. Ahmadinejad drew tens of thousands of flag-waving backers as he claimed he was the victim of Nazi-style propaganda. Mousavi's backers staged a huge march through central Tehran waving the campaign's trademark color, green.

"They applied the methods of [Josef] Goebbels, propaganda minister of Hitler," Ahmadinejad told supporters. "They used this method of psychological war against our nation."

Barack Announces Plans to Accept Nomination in a Stadium

Democrat delegates pledge allegiance to presidential nominee Barack Obama

Well now isn't this special. Barack Obama has announced he his going to move his acceptance speech outdoors to Invesco Field in Denver which can seat upwards of 75,000 people. Ain't that special. It appears to be another vain attempt to mimic the JFK legacy. For me it is far more foreboding. 70 years ago there was another charismatic speaker who could enthrall audiences with his speeches in large venues also. That one didn't turn out so good.
Hey, it feels good to draw a comparison between a progressive with socialist leanings with another progressive who has socialist leanings, even if they did speak a different language. You could probably go on and make a ton of other comparisons between the two, from the messages they preach in their speeches to the people they associate with, even to their similar childhoods.
The sad part is if I actually post this, the Obama bots will quickly spam Blogger and then the guy who actually owns this site will be pissed because he will be shut down. Such is the state of free speech in America, the government giveth and private organizations taketh away, and since we already know that Google has no trouble shutting down dissenting voices, and this is their playground I had best leave it here as a draft, but ready to be posted as an "I told you so" should the opportunity arise.

Well I guess that time has arrived. This post was originally written on July 7, 2008.

Hitler Decapitated

This no doubt will really upset all his liberal left admirers.
A man has torn the head from a controversial waxwork figure of Adolf Hitler on the opening day of Berlin's Madame Tussauds museum today.

A police spokesman said that the man, 41, had ripped off the head in protest at the exhibit.

The waxwork figure of a glum-looking Adolf Hitler in a mock bunker during the last days of his life had been criticised as being in bad taste.

A media preview of the new branch of Madame Tussauds on Thursday was overshadowed by a row over the exhibit.

Critics said it was inappropriate to display the Nazi dictator, who started World War Two and ordered the extermination of Europe's Jews, in a museum alongside celebrities, pop stars, world statesmen and sporting heroes.

Madame Tussauds had been forced to move the model after the row broke out over its inclusion in its German branch. The waxwork was isolated in a replica of the 'Fuhrer's' Berlin bunker, where he killed himself in 1945 at the end of the Second World War.

Dressed in a grey suit, the figure of Hitler gazed downwards with a despondent stare, his arm outstretched on a large wooden table with a map of Europe on the wall. The original plan was to have the dictator placed near his nemesis Winston Churchill.

Jewish and anti-fascist groups had criticised the decision to display the model saying that it was included 'merely to generate money'.

Under German law, the display of Nazi regalia is illegal.
Maybe they can make up for it and put a Che Guevara dummy in there instead.

Don't They Realize Only the Left Is Allowed to Use Hitler Imagery?

When it comes to disagreeing with leftwingers, it doesn't take much for them to invoke Hitler.

Even the mildest of policy arguments usually descend into Hitler analogies at the drop of a hat.

But, horrors, you dare run an ad linking some leftist stormtroopers to Hitler and look out.
Mexico's top electoral body ordered broadcasters to stop running a controversial TV ad on Monday that compares a firebrand leftist leading a siege of Congress to dictators Hitler and Pinochet.

The TV ad, funded by a Mexican businessman angry at a blockade of Congress by opposition lawmakers trying to derail an oil reform plan, says the antics of protest leader Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador are endangering democracy.

"The complaints committee decided unanimously to order the withdrawal of the spot from today," a spokesman for the Federal Electoral Institute told Reuters.

Leftists seized Congress podiums on April 10 to block a government proposal to lower barriers to private investment in the oil sector, controlled by the state since 1938. The action has left Congress paralyzed.

"Who shuts congresses? In 1933, Adolf Hitler in Germany. In 1939, Benito Mussolini in Italy. In 1973, Augusto Pinochet of Chile," the ad says, over grainy footage of the Nazi leader, his fascist ally in Italy and Chile's late military dictator.
Well, it may no longer be running on Mexican television, but it's running here.

Will Smith: 'Hitler Was a Good Person'

Born stupid

Oops.

Bad career move, dude.

Expect a clarification on this one, ASAP.
HOLLYWOOD - Will Smith has stunned the world by declaring that even Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler was essentially a "good" person.

The I Am Legend star, 39, is determined to see the best in people, and is convinced the former German leader did not fully understand the extent of the pain and suffering his actions would cause during his time in power in the 1930s and '40s.

He says, "Even Hitler didn't wake up going, 'Let me do the most evil thing I can do today.'

"I think he woke up in the morning and using a twisted, backwards logic, he set out to do what he thought was 'good.' Stuff like that just needs reprogramming."
What an idiot.

H/T: Hot Air.
